My doctor wanted me to lose some and wanted me at 340. I am at 355 right now and when I signed consent for surgery he just said to me lose a little more. Not to worry so much because your 2 week pre opt diet, you will lose a lot. I figured my 2 week diet will put me right at 340.

My only took a couple of days, I'm sure you will hear from them next week. :-) I am so anxious and nervous and looking forward in moving ahead. Keep my fingers cross for next week. Good luck with your surgery:)

April/May sleevers!
lyndabuon replied to SassyRNMom's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi, my name is Lynda from Staten Island, New York. Will be sleeved in April, waiting for insurance approval, which went out on Wednesday. I am 46 years old and have struggled with my weight the last 5 years. I have every illness associated with obesity and doctor only gave 5 years to live. This past summer I decided WLS was the best option to become healthy. Surgeon: Dr. Cornelius Vulpe, Staten Island, NY Hospital: Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY Height: 5'3" SW: 371 WN: 355 GW: 170 -
I am also type 2 diabetic with liver disease and my surgeon wouldn't do bypass because of the malabsorption and liver will not handle it. So he is doing the sleeve. Waiting for approval from insurance company which went out on Wednesday.

Gastric Sleever's how long did it take UHC to approve your surgery?
lyndabuon replied to raquel_c's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was submitted last week to UHC and I haven't heard anything yet. Good luck! -
Hi, waiting for surgery date which I will probably hear something this week. I am getting nervous and scared because I don't take pain very well. Been reading so many post in how people are having difficulty in drinking and eating, plus getting in their water. I am so ready for the journey but not sure if I'm ready for the pain that is associated with the surgery.

You are so right about dealing with uncomfortable then being obese. I have been in and out of hospitals for the last 5 years and I am so ready for a new life. I'm down 29 lbs before surgery and just looking forward in being healthy. My heaviest weight was 400 lbs. I will never want to be up there again. When I started this journey in August I was 384 and Right now I am 355.

Good luck to you too.

Blender Recommendations
lyndabuon replied to twinhappy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the ninja and I love it. I bought it from Macy's when it was on sale for $89. It was a 2 for 1, blender and food processor. I use it all the time. -
Feeling Frustrated!
lyndabuon replied to Scarlett72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you pre op? If pre op, I am following a 1500 calorie diet by nutritionist and I went up and down with my weight for 6 months too. I just sign the consent for surgery this week and should get my surgery date next week. I lost a total of 13 lbs since I started the process in September. I think you will be fine with insurance, they want to see that you are trying. Good luck. -
Can you lose more then 100 lbs with the sleeve?
lyndabuon posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was leaning towards the bypass but the doctor advised right now not to because of my liver disease. He said the sleeve will be the safest right now and down the road if I hit a stAll with losing he will do the bypass. He thinks I will do great with the sleeve and is confident I won't need the bypass. He is worried about the malabsorption. My question can you lose more then 100 lbs? My goal is to lose 150 to 170 lbs. I'm trying to do all the research on sleeve because surgery will be in 4 weeks, I signed the consent for surgery tonight. Please advise. Any information will be great... Thank you. -
I'm in long island, having it at northshore manhasset. Its where I work, lol You? Mine starts tomorrow!! how was first day? I'm in Staten Island, having surgery at Lutheran Medical center in Brooklyn but my surgeon is in Staten Island.

Emotional Rollercoaster Before Surgery
lyndabuon replied to jordantaylor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This has been an emotional roller coaster for me too. It was especially emotional with all the doctors appointment, change in eating habits and everything else going on in my life. This change is good and on the road to be healthy. As of today my ac1 is down to 7.3, liver is stable (have liver cirrhosis), and everything else is good. I sign the consent for surgery on Tuesday, March 10th and then to wait for insurance approval to have surgery. All I have been doing is crying with happiness, just being scared and all other things that come my way. -
Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet
lyndabuon replied to BeautifullyCreated1982's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told by my surgeon if the pre opt diet was not followed they know if it wasn't. If the liver is still enlarged they will not proceed forward with the surgery. He said he will stop and not finish. Is it worth it to cheat on pre op?
