"Time of the month" cravings
Weighting2BeFree replied to aclinton16's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Prior to surgery i didn't have periods so this had been new to me but yes... I'm craving carbs, any carbs, in a big way. It really sucks. And I'm nauseous. Not fun. But i haven't given in to bad. I still count my calories. The dang water gain and bloating is about to drive me crazy! -
Almost a Month Post Op and this happened :(
Weighting2BeFree replied to dohickey01's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@iamjamilyn mine lasted about 10 days. I actually gained two pounds during mine which i assume was water weight because my clothes were fitting better and better. Then boom over the last two weeks another 10 lbs. It'll come off. Just hold on, drink lots, move, and make great food choices! -

Women Only!
Weighting2BeFree replied to Weighting2BeFree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So just to keep ppl in the loop... I'm 6 weeks out and just started my 2nd period. I'm 11 days "late" but since its all natural I'm pretty happy. Lets just hope iys not as bad as the last one! -
I'm txting you.

I know how you feel. I was freaking out because i could put down so much liquid. I also ate before i should have with no side effects. You can't feel how much you eat. I'm 6 weeks out today. I can definitely tell when i eat to much now. .. it comes back up. I'm now working in that 1/2 a cup everyone is talking about. The stricture will come. Follow that post op diet. You'll give yourself no reason to flip out that way. This is also a good time to realize the surgery is a tool. You still have to decide what to eat.

Scale obsession
Weighting2BeFree replied to Fireflea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh every morning. But i don't freak out if i go up. I've noticed the day after a heavy weight training day i gain. So i really only look at long term.... maybe only count every other day or so -
Where they remove the stomach hurts so bad. My doc gave me a great soft ice pack. I lived with that thing for almost 3 weeks. I also popped an internal stitch in my abdominal wall. Just take it slow. I'm 6 weeks out and still have slight bruising.

My mother had weight loss surgery - Our relationnship?
Weighting2BeFree replied to Daughter2015's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My mom and I have had some talks like this... i was honest and told her the things that i wish had been different as a kid, such as healthier eating and family exercise. But i also told her that i was an adult and could no longer blame them for my stuffing my face with oreos. Its always easier to blame someone else than take responsibility for your own actions. You need to think about your own relationship with food any why its there. For me i always sabotaged my diets. Why? Because if i was bigger i felt i knew who my friends were and i thought pe op le would expect less of me. Not healthy. I'm still working through that. And yeah coming to a bariatric forum and calling a size 16 "gross" was very insensitive. Many of us dream of the day we can shop in a regular size store. -
Stalled need help!
Weighting2BeFree replied to Biloxigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I stalled for 9 days only 3 1/2 weeks post surgery. I was so mad...but looking back I was NOT getting enough calories- so two days ago I bumped up my calories to 1200 or so...and I have lost 2 pounds in two days. I am happy! I am almost 5 weeks out now and eating full food so its fairly easy for me. And my dietician said for me to be eating about that, especially since I am starting weight training soon! -
I would tell him why its a non issue. I have a friend who was banded when she was 18 ans she lost a lot of weight. Now she is 28 and practically engaged and has never told him and doesn't know how to bring it up. I would think it becomes harder the longer you wait. And if it does impact the relationship then he wasnt worth it anyway.

Pain at stomach's "exit" incision
Weighting2BeFree replied to ZoeyBear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh i remember. Mine hurt for about two weeks. I called my docs office. I was told that that site is also where they cut thru the abdominal wall and takes longer to heal. I liked ice instead of heat. And i kept a pillow against it when rising. You'll find one day it hurts less then boom one morning it won't hurt at all. But still be careful. -
March 2015 Sleevers
Weighting2BeFree replied to giggleblue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on March 18. I have had an easy recovery i think. But I will admit i advanced my diet and so far can tolerate everything except white bread. I'm feeling the stricture of full food. However I'm going back to liquids for a few days to reset myself mentally to slow down and follow docs orders. Any advice from anyone? Since things like deli meat and cheese isn't bothering me is there any point in going back to mush and liquid? -
Houston or Dallas Area Surgeon Reccomendations
Weighting2BeFree replied to iwant2becurvynotlumpy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used dr smith in fort Worth. I looked up Dr's records and he has no complaints. I've had no nausea and recovery was a breeze. Research your doc. I know of one very famous surgeon in the dfw area that has a not so good record and has had malpractice suits filed against him. Just be careful -

i would love info on his diet plan. the clinic promotes more plant based food right? -
Ok everyone. I am 18 days post op. I am in the mushy food stage. I am getting concerned because i read on here about ppl only being able to eat 3 tablespoons. That has never been my case. I was eating 1/4 cup jello day after surgery. Today for lunch i had a cup of chili and a side of mashed potatoes. No problem. For dinner 1 cup of Greek yogurt and some mixed fruit. Now I'm not hungry. Ever. And i do feel pain if i eat anything too dense. But during this stage is of normal? If it's s creamy smooth soup i can put down 1-2 cups. My friend who did this 2 months before me said the stricture won't kick in until I'm on full good. Is that correct?

I am 10 days post op. I have been doing really well on soft foods. Today at lunch i had some shrimp. It hurt for about 7 minutes. Then i got the hiccups. It's been about 7 hours. I ate some warn soup and it's a little sore. Should i be worried? And no i won't be doing that again!

Too much food?
Weighting2BeFree replied to Weighting2BeFree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Called my nut. She said no problem eating those amounts right now as its all slider foods and i need to be about 800-1000 cals and up to 1200 when solid food starts. She did say stay away from the starch and be careful of chunky chili but veggie chili is fine. Restriction will start when I'm on solids. Come on solids! Cannot wait. -
Too much food?
Weighting2BeFree replied to Weighting2BeFree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know white carbs are bad and i normally avoid them. We were at a restaurant with a very limited menu. I'm still losing weight ( about .75 lbs a day) so no complaints. I'm supposedly in the three week stall but still losing. My diet mostly consists of a protein shake, cottage cheese, and tuna packs with a side of soup occasionally. I will email my nut and see what she says -
I am 18 days out and seem to be able to average 800-1000 a day and i lose more on the days i eat more and walk. I can't get 70 grams of protein in in 500 calories. My doc wants me to move away from shakes but truthfully i think 1 a day for breakfast may be permanent.

Suggestions for scar reduction
Weighting2BeFree replied to fox99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc has a compounding pharmacy send us both a scar pain cream that dries and protects the incisions and then a reduction cream. So far one of my incisions is completely healed with no scar and two more well on their way. Then i have two more that are still scabby. I am 18 days post surgery. See if your doc has anything like that. Mine were covered under insurance -

Crawfish - Friend or foe?
Weighting2BeFree replied to Lion0312's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on 3-18 and am in the mushy food stage. A few days ago i tried shrimp and found that it was very dense and painful. I know that's not crawfish but i would wait until you are allowed a full diet. For me that is week 8. -
Ate too soon..
