I love this idea. At 50 lbs I wanted to get a tat but still haven't... Instead I redid my make up. I think I'll have to consider my own list.

How often do you weigh yourself?
Weighting2BeFree replied to ohjul's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't understand this. Our bodies are complex systems, not simple machines. You can see effects long-term, but not in the short term (daily). There is no way you can draw a direct cause and effect conclusion based on limited inputs and outputs yet I see people do this all the time and it drives them crazy. (ie, I ate a donut last night and I gained a pound this morning so eating a donut is the end of my life OR, I ate a donut last night and lost a pound this morning, therefore it's ok if I eat a donut every night). My solution, do what I am supposed to do and only weigh at the Doctors office for now. I know it doesn't show immediate results or outcomes. However, for me, weighing daily shows me a few things: 1) if my weight drops a ridiculous amount, say more than a pound a day, I go back and look to see if I trained harder or drank less over the preceding days and adjust my liquids. 2) if I go up I also look at possible hormone levels ( where I am in my cycle) or how my diet or exercise was different or how my calories varied in the preceding days. It helps me narrow the window of how far back to research. I can do this because I log everything... Liquids, food, and exercise -
I also used Dr Smith. He and his staff are great!

How often do you weigh yourself?
Weighting2BeFree replied to ohjul's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh daily so I can see how calories or certain foods affect my weight. However I do not freak out if it goes up or stalls simply because of water weight or hormones. I just like to know where I am -

she never mentioned the gender of her partner... And boobs may not do it for her partner... I like the topless corset... I never had to think covering up because... Well like lipsticklady said... Boobs ( did anyone else's seem to get Bigger after surgery or is it just me?) -
My haital hernia is what paid for my bariactric surgery. My insurance company paid for the repair and I just had to pay $900 extra for the sleeve. Both were done at the same time

I was just curious if anyone has tried liquid vitamins, and if their blood work has come back normal. I found Eco Drink at Costco and I love the taste. Its a multivitamin powder you mix with water - helps me get my liquid and my vitamin all at once. Has anyone else tried this? Or are there any others you recommend?

Pain in large incision area worsening
Weighting2BeFree replied to FlabbyNat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my large incision hurt badly for about 3 weeks - it didn't help that I think I popped an internal stitch one night flipping over in my sleep. that was a very intense pain that almost sent me to the hospital. I used a pillow for 3 weeks when I got up or down from sitting or laying. Keep an eye on it and if it doesn't get better, definitely call your doc! that's what he/she is there for! -
The ability to make choices - even not so good ones - is one of the reasons I love my sleeve. Before vgs, if i tastes anything carby, i would lose control and eat a ton of it. Now that my taste buds are changing, first off i find i dont want those things as much, and if i do indulge in them, its very little and my craving is satisfied and i can stop. Do i eat perfect? No. Should i work out more? Yes! But now i feel in control instead of like a runaway train. Thats why i love this. My advice? Own it, good or bad. Use the tool you've been given.

Post-op periods
Weighting2BeFree replied to Stephanie Stroup McIntosh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh the after surgery period mystery. I have had 2 since surgery 7 weeks ago. I gain about 4 lbs during this time. Then afterwards it falls right off. I think it's all water weight. Don't freak out it'll be ok! -
PANIC-NO WEIGHT LOSS FROM SURGERY!
Weighting2BeFree replied to ab123.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@lynneanne just hang in there. This process really messes with your head. I'm 7 weeks post op and have already had two huge stalls, one where i even gained 4 lbs. Then it just started dropping again. Trust yourself and the surgury. Do what you need to and give your body time to adjust. It's a big shock to the system. You'll get there. -

New to Bariatric Pal and have questions
Weighting2BeFree replied to ogleland's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
just in answer to this: my gerd was caused by a hernia, which was fixed during surgery. This is how insurance paid for my surgery. Haven't had a problem since, so it doesn't always cause it. I do agree that serious research is needed! -

5 days post op can't do all liquid diet. Anyone else do okay on soft foods?
Weighting2BeFree replied to nugirl402's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yeah i totally drank a shake at 5 days post op, soft food at 8, soft solids (ground beef or turkey, deli meat, ect) at 2 weeks, full solid at 4. I chewed like there was no tomorrow. I did have some pain from to big of bites. Now I'm right on target, eating about 1/2 to 3/4 cup per meal. But i should tell you... follow drs orders! -

Weighting2BeFree replied to ogleland's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm 6.5 weeks in, 8.5 if you count pre-op diet, and i hit 50 lbs today. I did the sleeve because it is less invasive than bypass. Also i knew that if this didn't work, revisions are covered under insurance. So far I'm loving it. It's been both the hardest thing I've ever done, and the easiest. Hardest because coming to the point i knew i couldn't do it on my own was really difficult, then that pesky pre op diet, then the actual surgery recovery was hard for me. It's also the easiest because now, I'm not hungry and i love that. It's so much easier to make better choices now. I'm not craving carbs. It's been the best thing I've done. I'm starting to fit into smaller clothes. Last weekend i went to s texas rangers game... and fit in the seat! My confidence is growing every day. But you cannot look at it as a magic solution. It's making good choices every day. Good luck! -
Difficult to accurately track progress as all scales are massively different
Weighting2BeFree replied to Fookoff's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just bought a new scale because my old one was giving me a different weight each time i stepped on it, one right after the other...sometimes as much as 5 lbs. So i bought a new one. .. this one has me 4 lbs heavier. So aggrevating. But it bluetooths to my phone and i like that. -
Hey ladies. I'm 5 days post op and just got my period. Now that may not seem that crazy except i haven't had a period in years. Anyone else experience this?

Omg the belching!!! I read it was a side effect but no one told me it would be this bad. For two hours after every meal i belch. Constantly. It's so bad my dad called me the other day and i belched and without skipping a beat my he askes what i had for lunch. I'm hoping it settles down soon.

I started at 3 weeks out and good quality low sodium turkey is a staple in my house. It's so easy to measure out a two ounce snack. Love it!

I love avocados. They are smooth going down and help me hit my 1000-1200 calories a day.
