    Vegetarian Lap-Band Veteran Wanted

Sweet Inca Porridge by Tosca Reno 1 cup quinoa grains, soaked 1 cup rolled oats, not instant 1/4 tsp sea salt 3 cups Water 1/2 cup chopped dates 1 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp best-quality vanilla Place first four ingredients in pot with a tight fitting lid. Cover. Bring to boil and then reduce heat to low. Simmer 30 minutes. Add remaining four ingredients and mix together well. turn off heat and let sit, covered, for five minutes. Serve for Breakfast with berries. 315 Calories 9 g Protein 4 g Fat 62 g Carbs I use the Eat to Live book as well as Vegan Planet, the last book really details how to use tofu and tempeh. I've had to learn to cook all over again, but it's fun to try things out and change them up a bit. I will have to check out those shakes, how much protein in each one? I've never heard of soy pasta! We have a huge Wholefood's about 35 minutes away, but I've only gone there to get some fasting tea, but I will def look for that pasta! I'll let you know when I try it and you do the same.

    Vegetarian Lap-Band Veteran Wanted

vegwannabe, Have you tried the quinoa porridge? I thought it was good, but my kids are used to the sugary tasting oatmeal, so they didn't take to it too much. Like Bea, I also have the Tosca Reno books, she does have some great veg recipes. We have had a hard time giving up Italian sausages too!! I don't think I will be able to get it down though once I have the surgery. But it will be worth it!! Kristi

    Vegetarian Lap-Band Veteran Wanted

Hello, I have not been banded yet (June18!!), I have just started out a few months ago wanting to be vegan, but have found my place as a pescetarian. I eat a lot of beans and love veggies and the soy meat replacements. Good luck!! Maybe we can be each other's journey buddies. We can swap veggie recipes!! Kristi

    stats on slippage

The band slippage does concern me, especially since I just finished up with a cold/flu with horrible uncontrollable coughing. Anyone have that and have the band be ok?

    Your Aetna experience?

:omg: I am soooo scared after reading all of your posts!!! I have Aetna POS II, and am doing the 3 month Nurse Pract/Dietician weight loss visits. I will be done with those mid-March. I have a flow chart from the Dr. office in another state for 2003 and 2004 and from a gyn and pulmonologist for 2005 and from my ob dr. for 2006 and from my PCP for 2007 and 2008. Will that make a diff that they are all from different places? I also have sleep apnea and have a BMI of 48. I wish you all luck!!!! :clap2: Hopefully I will get approved. :nervous Kristi

    Your Aetna experience?

:help:Hi, I have Aetna POS, and was wondering if it is better to go to an in-network Dr. or out-of-network. I went to a seminar the other night and they said they are out-of-network for all insurances, but will only charge what the insurance will pay. They wouldn't charge for the addt 30% or so. Anybody have any idea which is better??? Thanks!!!! Kristi
