  1. I have a friend who I goto church with and he had GB. When I got the lap band he sort of chastised me that I should have gotten GB. Well I had not seen him in awhile and saw him the other day and he is back to his old weight. I felt sorry for him but I noticed that he never did really change his eating habits. I CANNOT eat what I use to eat. It is just impossible. If I ever am able to eat that much again I will get a small fill. I think that is the biggest difference between the two surgeries. Yes we loose slower but I think we are keeping it off longer. Once you have GB I think you are "screwed" (for lack of better words). This of course is my opinion.

  2. Your band is very pretty..makes you look skinny.

Thanks!! That was definetly the look I was going for, lol!!

I was glad he took these pics because it gave me a better idea of what my band looked like and how it was positioned. The gallbladder one is cool too. If you will notice it is first the gallbladder. Then it is where is was before they sewed the duct and the last is the sewn duct. I think he took the band pic just for good measure. I am glad you all have "enjoyed" it.

  3. Sometimes, depending on how blessed some women are, the bra just has to come off. Two of the electrodes have to be placed in between your breast and if they are pushed together from your bra it is just impossible. The other four follow the breast line under your left breast so just sometimes the bra has to come off.

  4. Ok I was going to post this under another thread but thought some might miss it and it is sort of cool. I had my gall bladder out in July and the Dr took a picture of my gallbladder as well as my band. So, here it is in all its glory. The lower left view is the band the other views are my gallbladder (sorry I couldn't seperate them). Hope you enjoy!!

  5. WOW!! That is scary. I have PSVT which is a condition of the heart that causes it to start beating at about 230 beats a minute. It is really scary but I know how to get myself out of it now. I also worked in an ER for 8 years before we started our ambulance company and Sundays are the busiest days. No doctors offices are open so everyone comes to the ER. Also it seems like everyone would get hurt on Saturday and then wait over night to see if it got better then come to the ER. Crazy busy place!! It is really hard to understand why things happen the way they do in the ER unless you have worked in one.

  6. Ok I have to admit that I have an alltime favorite word too!! It is, drum roll please, SALPINGOPEXY. Say that over and over it is just fun. I learned that when I was going through medical terminology class. It means a fixation of the fallopian tubes, weird huh??

  7. I am sort of frustrated at this time. I am really stalled out in my weightloss. I go back to see my Dr on Tues for another fill. I had great restriction but these last couple of weeks I have lost restriction. I am not sure why but I have. I hope I will finally find my sweetspot. Has anyone else lost there restriction? I really haven't lost any weight for about a month. It really makes it difficult to keep your chin up!!

  8. WOw, did you get anything in writing prior to the surgery stating that they preapproved this surgery? I mean you were under the impression that this was approved right? Who gave you that impression? Is there someone in his office that was in charge of the insurance? That is who I would talk to at least that is where I would start. Also those charges just seem so high. I would call the hospital and ask them to give enough time to straighten this out. I work in insurance billing and I know that the one thing that will keep these people off your back is communication. If you call THEM once a week with updates I am sure they will keep you out of collections. If worse comes to worse, you just make weekly payments. You can only do what you can do. I wish you the best.

  9. So it has been 7 days for you? I think I was eating refried Beans by then with no harm. As you will hear a thousand times, the post op period is for healing not for losing. Your band is planting itself and any big digestion that your stomache has to do could potenitally move the band. This is the hardest period, thus bandster hell. You will not feel restriction because you have none. That will come laer with the fills. I remember being completly consumed with food during that period because I was so hungry. You will get through it, we all do!! You can do it! Good luck!

  10. Ok I finally had a NSV. We have horses but I normally do not ride. I always felt sorry for the horses having to haul my fat butt around. Anyways even when I did ride I couldn't get myself up on the saddle. Either someone had to help me (my hubs pushing my butt up there) or I had to get a chair and hope the horse did not move while I was halfway up. So my hubs got the horses saddled up and said c'mon we are riding. He got a chair for me but before he could even get it to me I had swung my leg up and over and Voila, I was up. I got up so fast, in fact, that I almost went all the way over, lol. I guess I thought I needed to get the old me up and I am the newer me. It was a great feeling and we had a great ride. Yeah me!!

  11. My Dr says you can have coffee but not an entire pot of it. He says like one or two cups a day willnot hurt anything. He also says that most lapband Dr's seem to combine the same restrictions for lap banders and RNY'ers and he says that it really is two different surgeries. I hope that made sense?? He told me that for the most part banders can eat or drink anything but in moderation. I know I will probably hear a dozen different opinions on this but this is what MY Dr says. Also he is a VERY good Dr that was highly recommended to me. I unfortunately did not have my surgery with him but follow up with him. I have about two cups of coffee a day and I would be not a nice person if I was not able to !!

  12. It's funny, when I first got banded I exercised like a crazy woman. I am losing weight sufficiently and am happy about it. I am not losing as fast as I have plateaued a bit but I think it has picked up again. What I am finding this summer is that my exercise is coming in different ways. What I mean is that, like tonight for instance, instead of walking I played with my horses tonight. I brushed them, and cleaned them and and fixed fences and so on and so forth. I did this for about 3 hours. I know it was not high impact but I sweated my behind off and the horses loved the attention. It was twofold, good for me and them. I find also when I do stuff like that (gardening, horseplay...) I feel so much better about myself. It just feels good. I probably need to do some more aerobics but I will. Oh yeah, I just go my gallbladder out on Thursday so that is my excuse for no aerobics right now,!!
