Lap band/smartlipo help!!!!
Jaymie72 replied to Ladeda56's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Well I had my smartlipo yesterday and I cannot tell you how incredible happy I am already with the results. My arms are still swollen and probably will be for awhile because of all the solution that was pumped into them but I already see a change. I was going to post pics and the office was going to give me my befores but I forgot to get them. I will get them at my followup and then post a 10 day beofre and after. The following is an account of what happened. They first numbed each area with a needle. These areas are where they were going to make very small incisions. These are where they insert the tubing and so forth. There are four very small incisions on each arm. After in numbed (which was very fast) they took a large syringe with a lidocaine/saline solution in it. They went to each incision (Which I will call port) and infiltrated the arm. They put an entire litre of Fluid in each arm. If anything was going to hurt I thought that would but again on a scale of 1 to 10 it was about a 2. This totally numbed the entire upper arm. Let me tell you, this was the most relaxed thing I have done. They gave me some awesome soft socks to where to keep my feet warm. They played music and even at one point brought me some food in to eat because it took 5 hours. Anyways, after they infiltrated the arm he went in with a verytiny laser and with an in and out movement started melting the fat. It was weird because as he was doing that some fat was coming out too. That took about an hour (He was very thorough). Then he suctioned it out with a small suction catheter. We talked and laughed the entire time. They gave me a xanax and lortab before the procedure and that really helped. It was completely painfree. This morning I feel a little more sore but I can't tell if it is from the procedure or from the garment because it is so tight. I will keep you guys updated!! Quite honestly I told the Dr "Why anyone would want the old way of lipo is beyond me". He asked me if I would be his spokesperson, lol!!! -

OK to answer all three questions: They first numbed each area with a needle. These areas are where they were going to make very small incisions. These are where they insert the tubing and so forth. There are four very small incisions on each arm. After in numbed (which was very fast) they took a large syringe with a lidocaine/saline solution in it. We talked and laughed the entire time. They gave me a xanax and lortab before the procedure and that really helped. It was completely painfree. They do the chin as well. MY dr said that that was the best area to do because you could see results almost right away. My arms are real swollen right now and the solution is still leaking from them but they give you compression garments to where with bandages. This morning I feel a little more sore but I can't tell if it is from the procedure or from the garment because it is so tight. I will keep you guys updated!! -
Lap band/smartlipo help!!!!

I know what you guys are talkinga bout, that is the lipodissolve and yes there are those exact problems with that. I looked into that as well. With lipodissolve it takes several treatments for you to get any progress and it can form hard lumpy masses (scar tissue) under the skin. The smart lipo is like a mini lipo that is done in his office and it is just done once. They make small incisions, insert the very tiny canula then they inject some sort of fat dissolving stuff and saline and then it is sucked out. It is done in like an hour and then I go home. From what I read on it it is very effective. I sure hope so! -
Lap band/smartlipo help!!!!

WOW that is so funny that you ask because I just had a consultation today for the same thing. There should be no interference as far as the band goes. I am having my arms, abdomen, and flanks (upper hip area) done and it is 8500. I am getting the arms done on Feb 11th and the rest on Feb 20th. I am so excited I could just scream because these areas are just not moving with diet and exercise. If you have any questions just let me know. -
Hello everyone!! I have a question concerning smartlipo. has anyone heard on this or had it done? I have a consultation on Thursday for my arms and belly fat and I wanted to know if anyone else has gone this route for sculpting. I am still about 20 lbs form my goal but my whole body is shrinking except for those pesky arms. My belly still has fat too but at least it is shrinking. Can't wait to hear from you all!!

My 190 lb 5 foot 10 boss is going to Mexico for a Lap Band....
Jaymie72 replied to BrandNewLisa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lisa when I went to the Dr to get my band I asked him to help me justify getting this surgery because although I just needed that justification. Sure my vanity wanted me to look better, doesn't everyone deep down? Most importantly I wanted to get healthy and stay healthy. My Dr asked me how much weight I was gaining a year and I answered 10 pounds. He told me that by the time I am 50 years old I could be 350 or more. That was a huge wake up call for me. He told me the surgery would be preventative for me and that I should go ahead with the surgery to keep me from getting any bigger. Maybe your boss has been putting on weight and wants to keep himself from getting any bigger. Please don't judge his motives as this is a very personal choice for almost everyone. I am not trying to be mean but let him make his own choice as you have made yours. It may not make much sense to you for him to do this but it's his life. -
Did you drink any caffeine before these tests?? I was an EKG tech for 8 years and I know that there are certain things you can eat or drink like energy drinks or even coffee that will cause a fast heart rate. Caffeine will also cause PVC's. ALmost everyone has PVC's of some sort and they can be completely benign or hormone related. I am almost sure you are fine but your Dr may want a cardiologist clearance first. Please let us know what they find out.

I think it's a great question! I am not sure that I have the best answer but I will give you my opinion. Once you start seeing the weight come off it just gets easier to keep the momentum up. I am pretty restricted at this point and really cannot eat a lot at one setting and am still losing. Now I still snack on cookies and ice cream and such but a lot less often. When you are cutting back on your other foods you will still loose weight. I wish I could have done this without the surgery but I think it does something to your brain too. It like reminds you that you have this awesome tool and to use it. I am not sure if this even makes sense but I hope it gives you some answers! Good luck with your band, you will so love it!!

SW/CW/GW/SHGW mean the following: starting weight current weight goal weight smoking hot goal weight Now it does say that I started at 230 but after thinking about it I actually started at 240, I just had lost 10 lbs before I got banded. I keep meaning to change that but whatever, lol!!!
-
I was banded on 12/28/07 and have lost roughly 55 lbs. I did not have to lose a whole lot from the beginning so I think it is slowing down for me. I have not regretted my decision once on getting this done. It has been life changing for me. I have a friend that had RNY and after a year had lost a lot of weight but three years out he is back to his old weight and eating the same. I am not trying to be antiRNY but it is just something to think about.

Seeking Selfpay Prices for Indiana/Chicagoland
Jaymie72 replied to Losing 2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had mine done in Detroit through Beliteweight.com and I paid 11,700. That was a 4 hour drive from my home in Indiana and I follow up with Dr. Clark in Greenwood (2 hour drive) for fills. I was really happy with everything I got and I am really happy with Dr Clark for my follow up fills. He does charge 300 a fill vs 150 a fill in Detroit but Detroit lets you come every 2 weeks and Dr Clark once a month. So it really is the same if you ask me. I had Dr Weiner in Detroit. Good luck! -
Luluc I was thinking the same thing. I think if you tried less mushy stuff and more solid stuff you would feel a difference. I think the omelet is a great choice and I always add some meat to my omelet like sausage or something. Try some solid proteins too and see if that helps.
-
Oh well thank you!! I didn't realize I had a message until now. Actually I didn't realize you could leave people messages until now, lol!! Well it is great to have a banded friend!! Great luck and success to you as well!

Post your attainable new year goals!!!

Oh wow that is a good one for me too!! -
Just keep telling yourself this too shall pass. The only way to describe this time is HELL!! Just remember you have not an ounce of restriciton during this time so basically you are back to where you started (to a point) and eating like a pauper. Once you get your fills you will feel differently. No I did not loose weight during that time (maybe a very little) but after I got my fills (and it took at least 3) I could really tell a difference. I would say if you are hungry every two hours eat something high in protein and try to keep busy. I think sometimes it is in our minds that we are just starving becuase we are told we can't eat. You can do it!!!!!

Well I can hardly believe it but today is my one year bandiversary. I can honestly say this is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. It has been life changing for me. I have about 20 lbs to go but I will get there. I am enclosing a before and after picture of me so you can see where I am at. Good luck to all of you!!
-
Can you all believe we made it a year?? My bandiversary was the 28th and I feel MAHVELOUS!! It really has been pretty easy for me (Knock on wood) and I thank God everyday that I was able to do this. I still have about 20 lbs I need to lose but I am very happy at the process. No I am not running in any marathons but I am exercising and eating better and I just feel better all around. Can't wait till it has been 2 years to see where I will be then!! Good luck guys!

Well laverymo, those are great questions. Immediately after the surgery they put you on a liquid diet to help with the healing process. You go from liquids to mushy to soft foods to regular foods. This is all within 6 weeks or so. As far as myself, I eat whatever everyone else eats except in smaller portions. I have a ton of energy and never feel food deprived because I do not allow myself to become food deprived. For instance my family and I went out to eat the other night at a steakhouse. I had a half slab of baby back ribs, a sweet potato, and a salad. I ate all my salad first which really filled me pretty good. Then I started on my ribs. I think I ate three ribs and a couple bites of the potatos but I so full it almost hurt (in a good way). I ate slow and made sure I chewed well and had no problems. This really has been pretty easy for me. I have not really had any issues. There are somethings I just cannot eat anymore but it is ok. Let me know if you have any more questions.
-
Well form what I understand I have a standard band. That is what my Dr said and he says he can get up to 10 to 12 cc's in it. It is an Allergen band. I have 6.5 cc's in it now. I am definetely losing slower now but I like to be able to eat so I really don't want to go any more, at least not right now. Somedays I can eat a whole lot (like today) and somedays it is just so much harder. I think I am losing like a pound a month now, and I am ok with that. I am not going backwards, I will never let myself. How about you??
-
I am soooo sorry for your loss. They do become family and you have every reason to mourn as such. You are in my prayers.

I totally understand about staying committed but no one can do it for us. You cannot eat bad foods if you do not buy them. Also think about how much money you will save if you quit buying the dairy queen blizzards. If you buy one of those a day which I think to be about $3.00, heck in one week you will have $21.00 to spend on healthier foods if you quit going to Dairy Queen. I know that ice cream is my downfall. I just simply DO NOT buy it. I have found that apples are really good. Hey we all have our weak moments, don't beat yourself up over it. I was exercising really good for the first 5 months and then quit. About a month ago I started again and have regained some self confidence and feel like I can really do this. YOU CAN DO IT!!
