I had my gastric sleeve on May 15th, a Friday. I have lost 74 pounds since surgery, and 84 down from my highest weight.
The surgery went well; I also had my gall bladder removed at the same time since I had previously been diagnosed as having many gall stones. I had terrible problems with nausea in the hospital; I stayed for 2 nights. Once I got home, I also had problems with nausea but started taking the Zofran prescription the doctor had given me and I am OK since then.
I progressed through all the "stages" since the surgery fairly well; although it has always been a problem getting in enough Protein. Every day, I tell myself that I'm going to do better on that, and also not "forget" to take my Vitamins, which I don't like taking, primarily because they either taste terrible or the pills are just too darn big, and I have real trouble swallowing them.
I am glad to be losing weight and I have started giving away a lot of my closet, because I don't anticipate ever going back to 3X.
I will say though, that I just don't have much enjoyment anymore in eating food, or going out to eat either. I guess that's one of the purposes of this surgery....to get you to realign your life so that it doesn't revolve around eating all the time. My stomach just doesn't feel very good on some of the things I try to eat, although it's just a feeling, not resulting in anything coming up.
So, everything is GOOD so far; I think I will be more enthusiastic about everything when I get further down the road. Some of the time now, I still wish that I had been able to lose the weight without having to go through surgery and everything afterwards. But I have to be realistic and know that I wasn't able to lose it in that manner, so that is why I turned to WLS.
Hope all of us May sleevers are doing well, and feeling positive and good about the decisions that we have made.
