Home Sweet Burping Hell....Day one recovery.
cockapoomom replied to cockapoomom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@ssourgirl, Tell your daughter it gets better. The first few days will be painful and she won't feel like eating/drinking much however it's important to keep sipping liquids. After a few days I got hungry and regretted my decision. I was constantly thinking about food but kept on sipping my fluids. Each day she will lose a pound, or every other day. Eventually, I'm reaching my second week and the head hunger is gone completely. I am eating Greek yogurt and thin creamed Soups, only about a half a cup or less at a time, 3 x's a day. It gets better! Have her get up and maybe go out to the mall or something for a light walk, or at least sit up in a chair to get that gas out. She is going to feel better in about a week, though everybody is different. All the best and congratulations to her!!!!!! -
Hi, I wanted to let anybody who struggles with head hunger, boredom, negative thoughts, self acceptance issues, depression or anxiety to research Mindfulness and Meditation. I myself have struggled with them for a lifetime , as well as trauma issues (don't we all?). Recently, I've made use of what is called "mindful thinking"and implementing it as a new way of identifying with myself and my world. It's become helpful in locating the core reasoning behind certain thought patterns and coping, including my obesity. I believe we all have the potential to succeed not only with our health and weight loss goals, but relationships, work, finance and overall sense of well being, but sometimes we let our emotions and thoughts get in the way of our success. I know a lot of people out there are already aware of the benefits of mindfulness and meditation, and that is awesome! But, just in case somebody out there struggling is unaware of this liberating method, I feel obligated to share what mindfulness has done for me in hopes it compels them to learn and grow from it. I also thought it would be a good thread for others to share their experiences and inspirations. Good luck to everybody embarking this journey and may all your dreams come true! I can't help but feel gratitude for all the good that is to come to each and every one of us!

@foreversleeved08. How are you? I've graduated to baby food consistency foods. Not cleared by Ganta but just started playing around first with Protein shakes, then a tiny bit of cream of wheat with mootopia, tonight 3-4 tablespoons of cream of chicken soup. So weird how the tiniest amount fills you up! How are your energy levels? I'm kinda tired! -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
cockapoomom replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Honestly, it was a breaking point. At 314 lbs I had zero energy, was depressed and food was a sort of comforting friend. My boyfriend and I were building all leisure activities around eating out, having 1-2 cocktails every night, cooking big meals and being inactive. At work I was miserable, low self-esteem and just didn't want to be there. So, I did a 3 week IOP on mindfulness and meditation, starting to make small changes like eliminating Desserts and caloric liquids, implemented more activity into my schedule and just having more compassion and acceptance for myself. Now I'm just starting this thing, had surgery a week ago and already down 30 lbs from my top weight. It's a time to dream big and reach for the stars. I'm at the highest level in my life but I know it's gonna be hard work. I still love food, to cook and to entertain and I just know that having a smaller tummy will mean I can still do these things and love them, but in a more moderate and healthful way. It's going to be an interesting ride and I'm open for all possibilities. -

Arm & Thigh Lift this Thursday, March 12
cockapoomom replied to tebowfan's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Omg I will likely pursue a breast lift, tummy tuck and arm lift, however I'm the biggest pain sissy. On a scale of 1-10 what was the pain like 1st day home, post op? Also, congrats!!!! -
Marijuana and Life after Bariatric Surgery

@@jadama22 Post op day one and two: I was in so much pain and uncomfortable that I inhaled two "puffs" from my vaporizer of some good kush and it helped immediately with the pain. However, because you will just have had anesthesia and your lungs will be weak, I would advise to use discriminately. It did not make me hungry. -
4 weeks out, tried some regular food
cockapoomom replied to Bruce Peter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Bruce Peter You are so lucky! I'm still on Clear liquids and dreaming of anything, even blended mushy foods at this point. Congrats! -
@@CTDEE I had my surgery 6 days ago. I don't feel well enough to exercise, miss my old energy and am definitely hungry for some diversity in texture of food. My surgeon recommends Clear liquids for 2 weeks straight! Chamomile tea helped me sleep the 2nd night home and was almost ritualistic in preparing it that gave me a sense of calm and peace. Congratulations on your surgery and best of luck during this post-op stage, it's definitely for the birds, though I'm personally shedding a pound per day approximately.

@@foreversleeved08 Cream of Wheat sounds heavenly. I'm still on liquids and getting sick of Crystal Lite and Isopure. To be honest, I can barely stomach them and the diarrhea came back, thus making me even more reluctant to drink but I know I have too. Protein goal is a fail, I mixed up a scoop in a bowl of beef broth and after one sip dumped it out. Hope you are feeling better, I can relate to back pain. Hugs -

@@foreversleeved08 You are officially my hero for doing this and caring after two children! I am getting liquids down so much easier but very weak and fatigued. Did I mention hungry? I'm not sure what it is but I am definitely craving something aside from clear liquid. My goal is 40 grams of Protein today by finishing one Isopure clear drink diluted with crystal light. How are you getting along dear? -

cockapoomom replied to cockapoomom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey! I'm feeling a lot better today actually, not quite the zombie I have felt like for the past few days after surgery, thanks for asking! I'm tolerating Water so much better, doesn't hurt to go down and my isopure is going down with less pressure (I'm sure u know what I mean)...I tried jello last night and that will take a few days to get used to..after about 3 tiny bites with a baby spoon, I was done with it. I do have some appetite for things besides what we have to eat, but I know it's head hunger! So trying to keep busy. I have some diarrhea too lol but hey atleast we are having bowel movements baha! I think the reason why I feel a lot better is because I'm off of the codeine, I still feel some pain with my incisions/belly (like I did hundreds of sit-ups) on Tylenol but it's tolerable and I don't feel groggy which I like! I've been eyeing my creamy tomato soup that is awaiting me when we progress to full liquid So far I have lost 6 pounds, water and Protein are both lacking though, all I did was sleep for the past few days...im hoping to get a routine going with meals to hit protein and water goals....oh and being on my period in addition to all this has been loads of fun! And yes 2lbs is awesome, if it's not gain, it's a win! When is ur next appt with dr Ganta? Mine is the 27th, I'm praying that in two weeks I'll be ready for work! Keep at it, I keep reading after a week it's a lot better! Well, I can't seem to eat anything other than a half pop sickle and bottled water. Today I sipped on low sodium chicken broth, maybe 4-5 teaspoons. I'm scheduled to see Ganta on the 27th also, I think 11:30 am. My sister is gone and it's just my boyfriend, the dog and I. I took a 3 hour nap today after a venture to the gas station, car wash and Nordy's Rack. Pretty much wiped me out! I'm glad you are having a much better day. Kudos on getting the Isopure down, I'm scared to try lol. @@sandyb68 thank you for the words of advice and well wishes and continued success to you on this journey. -

@@foreversleeved08, how are you feeling today? Any better? My tummy hurts and I have diarrhea. Having a hard time getting down Jello, no appetite at all actually. Going to try and get out a little bit today (my sister is driving back to Dallas tonight and I want to get her a little thank you gift for staying with me), but I think what is helping most with gas pains and abdominal pain is the moving around and about apartment, at least once an hour and taking pain med every four hours. I hope you are progressing, I've only lost 2 lbs since surgery date but I'll take it. I called Ganta's office btw to ask about diarrhea and they said it was normal. Also let Katie know I made a friend with another patient online who got sleeved same day and she got a good laugh and said she'd let him know. Hugs and all the best! -

What a small world. I'm praying for you too! Did you have the night nurse Dan? He was super sweet, very compassionate and caring. I was very impressed with the entire team at St. David's, it made all the difference. Can't wait to shed this weight! I was at Dillards laughing with my sister that I can't wait to kiss that blasted plus size department goodbye! One day at a time though, right! -

Day 2 Showered up and sipping Water slowly, showered and sucked a pop sickle. My sister had to blow dry my hair and I've had pain meds every 4 hours because I need it! Pain and soreness from incisions every time I transition from sitting/laying/standing. Slep soundly however had terrible dreams. Woke up to stand/walk at 2:30 am and again at 7:30am. Trying to work on burping/releasing air. Feel a bit better from yesterday, for sure! Able to tolerate bigger sips. Anybody else out there going through recovery or in their first 48 hours? -
pre-op liquid diet, commence....
cockapoomom posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I am new to the forum and scheduled for gastric sleeve on 3/16/15. Today is day one of my all liquid/protein shake diet for two weeks. I have chosen Isopure whey Protein, unflavored and almond milk. I also have Premier Protein and the Isopure liquid pre made beverages. I will probably stop by the store and get some sugar-free pop cycles, Jello and broths tonight. I was wondering if there was anybody who was starting their pre-op diet or have started already and had any tips/tricks for adherence. Thanks! Yvonnie -

@Shell88. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one . At least we made healthy choices instead of the alternative. I just put a big bowl of sugar free Jello to chill in the fridge for popcorn. A close friend who had sleeve said she cheated almost everyday including in and out burger and chick filet and her surgery went great. She's now a size 4/6 if you can believe it, but she was small to begin with just at about 200 lbs. -

Okay, to be perfectly honest I have had cottage cheese twice. One today and once yesterday. I also cheated by having a half cup of lentil Soup with a Caesar salad. This is not easy for me at all. I'm still doing my Protein shakes and liquids, today no solid food at all. I am down 6 lbs in 6 days. -

Lala Lady I was provided a huge list of various low carb / high Protein drinks and powders. I use Isopure with Almond Milk and Muscle Milk Light chocolate in the blender with Almond Milk and Ice. I also bought Premier Protein per made shakes, the provide 30 grams of protein with only 160 calories. Got those at Walmart. Right now I am on day four and I will be honest this is not easy for me, but I take lots of naps and stay hydrated. I'm constipated and a little fatigued. I got a phone call from the hospital today for my pre surgery appointment and suddenly this seems so real, so no turning back now Great luck to everybody, I will be praying for our strength during these few weeks. -

Pre-Op Liquid Diet -- SO hungry!
cockapoomom replied to Carlye's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have just completed day 2, only twelve more to go. I too was very hungry today, more so than yesterday. The broths fill me up most and I've been drinking Water consistently through out the day. The Popsicles definitely help and I just made a big bowl of Jello to set overnight for snack impulses. I have a great boyfriend who is not getting sleeved but doing the liquid thing with me, slightly modified to include fruits, so I do not have to agonize over watching him indulge in solid food. I was saying to myself, I'm so hungry even broccoli or cabbage would help, but my surgeon has me on strict liquid only. Anyhow, best of luck to all. I'm down 3 lbs since 2 nights ago and looking forward to the scale's final result on surgery day which is the 16th. -

Yesterday wasn't so bad! I had 2 Premier Protein shakes, one at about 10 am, the 2nd at about 2pm then had Almond Milk with Isopure Whey Protein about 5pm. My boyfriend and I went to Walmart about 6pm for plenty of Clear Liquids then stopped by Home Goods for some candles and other goodies. I came home and had a sugar free Popsicle and cup of chicken broth. I think I'm just so excited for my surgery that sticking to this Pre-op thing is like a bonus as I keep thinking about all the weight I'll lose prior to surgery day. Let me know how you ladies are doing as your pre-op diets commence. I'm definitely here for your support and vice versa. Hugs!! Yvonnie
