    Anyone in Iowa?

Hi, I'm from Cedar Rapids and one week post-op today! Pre-op weight (3/12) 302, CW 275 (4/2). The range of emotions this past week has been crazy. I'm so happy to say the tide has finally turned and things will be going better from here! I'm also super excited for week #4 of Clear liquids -haha ???? Keep up the good work, fellow Iowans!
  2. Please don't hate on whoever answers this! I have followed it to a T (I'm currently on day 5 of 14) -- with a few exceptions. Last night I had a small piece of cheese and Saturday night I took a small crumb of a Panera baguette and ate it with a drop of broth. Also, my surgeon allows Life Saver gummies - I couldn't find them so I got some Sweet Tart gummy bunnies. I still had some - but gave the rest to my sister's kids. I just want to know that 1) I'm not alone 2) I'll still be okay! Thanks, Sleevers

    March Sleevers

Today is day 6 in Sleeveland. I didn't think I'd make it but here I am! I've second guessed my decision so many times. I can't seem to get enough liquids or proteins down. The belching and hiccups hurt so badly. I'm at about 15oz of water and 20g of protein. Still on clear liquids and started vitamins on Sunday. But- today feels promising! Happy April! ????

    Protein options

My surgeon does not allow RTD protein drinks nor does he allow powders mixed with anything other than water or diluted juice. This is so unfair!! (Sorry I'm feeling sorry for myself!)

    Post op day three

I am in he*l. I thought I was so prepared for surgery (3/26) but this abdominal pain is killing me. I'm passing gas just fine. It's just moving around or switching sides. Been up walking every hour. Hard to get fluids in when I'm laying down and can't use straw. Right this minute I have buyer's remorse. I hope to seethe bright side SOON!
  6. I'm looking for a buddy 43-year-old female from Iowa - looking to regain control of my life!
  7. I'm getting more excited every day! Just wondering if anything can possibly happen in the "history/physical" appointment with my PCP tomorrow?? It's the last step of this process and I am so paranoid. This is just a 30 min or less appointment, correct? There is no way I can screw it up, can I? Thanks for humoring my CRAZY!!!
  8. Using sponge applicator for water so I don't gulp. Ask for mouth spray, too. I'm itchy EVERYWHERE so I keep getting Benadryl.

I am 8 hours out and requested the sponge straw thing so I didn't have to fight the urge to chug ????
  10. I'm doing well in my room now. I was given s spinal thing for pain so no pain pump until tomorrow. So I'm still seeing double and falling to sleep often. I've walked around twice. I'm not getting discharged until Saturday 3/28 and told my husband not to come back until then. GL to all with surgery this week!
  11. My appointment was easy peasy. I don't know why I work myself up so much. Last hurdle complete! My husband and I are staying in a hotel tonight near the hospital. My surgery was switched from 8:00 to 9:30, so at least we can sleep a little longer. As if I'm going to sleep!
  12. @@SarahLovy, THANK YOU for your response! I truly appreciate it!
  13. Triple like! Obviously it's not good you "cheated", but hooray for honesty!
  14. Thank you for not being afraid to be honest! I'm glad things worked out well for you! Not going to lie, I didn't follow it at all. I did keep track of my calories with my Fitbit and lost 7 lbs prior to surgery. I was working 11 hours days and could not hang with all liquids! Noone every asked my about my preop diet. The doctor never said a word and I have not had any complications! I did have a lot of anxiety over not following it. Looking back I would have not worried so much! Truth!

    March Sleevers

Hello, March Sleevers! I am on day 6 of 14 of an ALL clear liquid diet (broth, sf jello, water, protein shakes made with water - no food at all). So far so good; I'm down 12 lbs and hopefully shrinking the he** out of my liver . When at a Mexican restaurant last Friday night, they didn't have broth or anything so I sucked on a few tortilla chips for a minute and dipped a spoon in salsa, shook it off then licked it. Should I even admit this?? So pathetic! I had a full blood workup last August (unrelated to surgery) and all of my blood levels were great. During the surgery prep process, my blood levels came back with high cholesterol and diabetes. Plus I have gall stones so I'm getting my gall bladder out during surgery. What a wake-up call and reassurance I'm doing the right thing!!! Anyway... Surgery is set for 8:00 am next Thurs 3/26. I've been soaking up all of the information I can find on this website (people seem much nicer here than on obesityhelp.com!). I have a few questions - * How long is your anticipated overnight stay? My surgeon said around 20% of patients get out the next morning and the rest stay an additional night. * Since the stay is so short, do you plan to have visitors? If I don't get out the next morning, I'm telling my husband to go home and come back the morning I get out since we live an hour away. Will I want visitors? * How long is your anticipated time of work? My surgeon office put 2-4 weeks on my FMLA paperwork, but said most likely I would only be off 2 weeks. Thank you so much for your answers and all of the great support out here!!

I love the Hot n Sour and the Mexican Tortilla! Nice flavor

    Cheater cheater, pumpkin pie eater

I just posted that I had a few little slip ups (small piece of cheese and a small crumb of bread). You have a much more supportive audience than I did! We can do this. No judgment from me!
  18. Since some only have 2-7 days pre-op diet -- and many are still eating food during that time per their doctor - the small crumb of bread and small piece of cheese I have consumed in the 14 days of clear liquid diet won't be a deal breaker for me. The crumb of bread was premeditated (seriously a crumb), but the cheese happened during a Water run in the middle of the night - found the wrapper on my nightstand.
  19. I don't get to have any solid foods (I would LOVE to have yogurt, meat, veggies, fruit!). Only Protein shakes (not pre-made), broth, SF Jello, and Water, plus one serving each of 100% fruit/no sugar added juices and V8. Optional for "chewing" are Life Savers gummies and Knox Gelatin.
  20. I just found the most amazing thing at Walmart while shopping for pre-op Clear Liquids. Swanson has some flavored broths - I got Hot & Sour and chicken Tortilla. They also had a wasabi ginger and another chicken-type flavor. The hot & sour is pretty intense, but WAY better than plain chicken and beef broth

    pre-op liquid diet, commence....

I'm a few hours into day 1. I normally don't even have Breakfast by now and have had a shake. In my head I'm starving and shaky and dizzy. WTH??? Lord help me get through the next few days -- the two weeks should go better after that from what you all have said!
  22. I was just going through my clear liquid diet "rules" for the 80th time -- but just noticed that I canNOT use pre-made shakes because of the added fat, calories and Fiber. Does anyone else have this rule? Thanks!
  23. Starting tomorrow - we can be buddies You can do this!
