I'm having surgery 3/16 in Richmond VA.

Is your surgery 3/9 or you begin the process on 3/9? My surgery is 3/16.

I will also be out of work for 4 weeks. I've had my pre admissions testingat the hospital and I saw the surgeon for our final visit before surgery. On Tuesday I have a pre surgery class and then the requirements are finished. It still doesn't seem quite real. Maybe because I'm still caught up in prep work?

I'm actually still trying to figure out the answers to those questions and my surgery will be 3/16. I have only told a few a my family members and a few co workers. The support in my family is only about half there. The other half keep telling me the horror stories they have heard. I don't feel the need to tell all of my coworkers because it is my decision/business and it will not have an impact on them. My family will have to help me out during the process so they had to know. As I figure out some of the other answers you are looking for I'll try to remember to post my experiences.

My doctor recommends Bariatric Advantage Vitamins but I find them really chalky and am having a hard time taking them. What kinds of chewable vitamins are othe people using? I'm trying to find something before my surgery on 3/16. Thank you!

I googled my doctor's name looking for malpractice information and thankfully didn't find any. After that I spoke with other doctors to find out what they thought. He was highly recommended by everyone I spoke to. Maybe you could check with doctors in your area and in the hospital where you are working?

Congratulations! I'm having surgery on 3/16 and I had my final appointment with the surgeon today.

I'm also having surgery on 3/16. Congratulations and good luck. I began the two week pre op diet today too and I'm hungrier than I would have been on any other day. I think it's just the stress as the day gets closer and it becomes more real. At least we don't have to do this alone!

My doctor has you follow a two week high protein, lower carb and fat diet for two weeks prior to surgery to shrink your liver and make it easier to work laparoscopically. It is supposed to lessen the risk for complications and the need to go to an open procedure. the diet has between 70-85 grams of protein per day and less than 1000 calories.

I am also having surgery on 3/16. Congratulations and Good Luck. I started the liver shrinking diet today and am looking forward to being a healthier me soon. I started the process in July 2014.
