  1. Hello!! I've had a few episodes of my blood sugar going as low as 45...I am guessing it is reactive hypoglycemia due to symptoms that happen alongside the low number. My questions: 1.anyone else dealing with this? I am almost 18mos out from bypass. 2. What do you eat when you are super low that brings sugars up but not too high, perpetuating the cycle? 3. Once there was a CLEAR reason: I sort of let myself get guilted into eating a slice of birthday cake; but the other times I really don't know what caused the low blood sugars. I am trying to get into a nutritionist but with my work schedule I am having difficulty. Any thoughts or inputs would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!! 2. I've lost 100, still 25-30 to go to meet my goal. Won't make it by Aug 26th, but I WILL make it
  3. Great idea, I'm going to make up my mind to do one of those....it is weird BC I look at these wonderful ideas and I don't feel I deserve the reward.. Mind games! Sent from my LG-H900 using the BariatricPal App
  4. Hello! I am looking for ideas on how to celebrate/commemorate 100 pounds gone for good! I still have about 25 to go before reaching goal but want to do/buy something to Celebrate this achievement. Any ideas? My husband wants to take me out for dinner.....not interested in celebrating with food as I'm trying to (still) get RID of the thought process that celebrate = food. Thank you! 6 months and at a stall

Ive been at a stall as well. Have been toying with the same 5 pounds for 5 weeks! And my appetite is back... Why????? I want to not care about eating!
  7. I am so sorry! I can sympathize: I literally thought I was having a heart attack bc the left under-breast/shoulder pain was so bad. Unfortunately I don't have much advice... Mine got much better after they pulled the drain... But not all the way gone for a few more days.
  8. How are all the August surgery people doing?I have hit that rite-of-passage otherwise known as the three week stall. I am doing well, but still have that left incision area pain, sometimes even just sitting... Thought that would be gone by now.
  9. I was three weeks post-op on Wednesday, and haven't lost a pound since then. (will be one week of a stall). This also coincides with moving into soft foods per my doctor's plan. Should I go back a stage in the food plan or keep going with the soft foods?
  10. The only time I have ever used Ricotta cheese is for my Lasagna.... So pardon my ignorance, but do you heat up the ricotta cheese along with the refried Beans? Or do you eat it cold like with Cottage cheese?
  11. Ah... There is so much variety in the post op diets. My surgical center/nutritionist team has everyone start full liquids first day home from hospital for 1 week. Haven't had any problem with my unsweetened almond milk, or keifer.
  12. I was in recovery for 2 hours, and only remember bits and pieces of it. I 'woke up' when they brought me to my room and I stood/pivoted to get into the bed that was in the room. That's the last think I remember until about 2 1/2 hours later when the 'day nurse' was telling the night nurse about me and they came over to check how many 'holes' I had. Then it seems like a blur. Someone was ALWAYS coming in: vital's check, linens, "hello I am the patient advocate" etc. OH, and they did a diabetic finger prick like every hour. Not sure why.... I am not diabetic. The staff on the floor I was on was amazing.... just VERY peppy.... and I just kept pressing that demeral button everytime I got the green light on it. Turns out the pain was from the gas, not the actual surgical area
  13. Hello, I am one week out of surgery. Went to my first post-op appt today where I was able to honestly answer that I had no nausea, no vomitting, etc. Everything seemed to be running smoothly. Then, as a 'celebration' to hear that all was well and I was 'brave' during the staple removal, I took myslef to the lobby and got a decaf soy latte with sugar free Caramel flavor. I know I was not dehydrated prior to having it... but halfway home while sipping it I got extremely lightheaded and nausous. By the time I got home, I NEEDED to lay down. I didn't vomit, but just felt generally crappy. Was this 'dumping'? Is soy milk high in sugar? I usually have been using unsweetened almond milk for milk replacement.... they don't have it, so I went with the soy milk. Or maybe they used regular Caramel instead of SF? I certainly didn't intend on making my happy pouch so angry.... what do you think?
  14. Slept 9 hours straight last night and even took a nap today! I now feel great. I'm able to walk a little more "upright" then I had been. I am day 4 post-op. Did well yesterday and today so-far getting my water and protein in. I am liking the syntax nectar fruit-juice-like protein.
  15. I'm so glad I read this. I had my surgery 4 days ago, and although I'm improving, I'm still having a lot of pain. Seems like the people I know who had it, didn't have much pain at all, so I was starting to wonder if there was something wrong. I'm not showing any of the warning signs my doc told me to watch out for, but it hurts. I came here to see if I was the only one.I am 3 days post-op. I am in a lot of pain, have diarrhea every time I sit down, and the place where my drain was is still gushing periodically. I can't even imagine working right now.
