Drinking after surgery
sallyomalley67 replied to khaske1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@ @@Bonawanabfree Keep walking every hour or so even when home. It will help tremendously with the gas/air pain. That by far was more painful than the surgery to me. Good luck! -
Drinking after surgery
sallyomalley67 replied to khaske1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@Jim Y -You may not feel full while on liquids. You just need to measure out what they say you can have and dont go over. I either get the hiccups or feel a weird sensation in my sternum when I get close to the end if whatever measurement they allowed on my plan. "Full" feels VERY difderent now. I hear once we start on soft foods, that we will understand more. Im almost 2 weeks PO. All a learning curve. -
New idea for protein...and it tastes GOOD!
sallyomalley67 replied to CanyonBaby's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I made a homemade gelatin using fruit juice. It has 7 or 8 gr protein and one packet makes 4 servings. I bet i could add the flavorless protein powder to.it (if it will ever get here!) Lol. Im with u. The shakes get old quick. -
Depression after the Gastric Sleeve
sallyomalley67 replied to BigTink2LilTink's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Believe it or not, our fat cells release hormones and are known.to cause temporary depression. This too shall pass. Plus mourning our comfort foods and behavior changes where rewards are different from what we are used to. Hang in there. It may be a hormone causing the memory loss. Or thyroid. -
????A shout to the February sleevers ????
sallyomalley67 replied to ☁️9⃣B????'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Best of wishes for you! It is not as painful as I expected so hopefully you too will be only sore, not in pain. Walk walk.walk as soon as you can. It will make the air stuck in your tummy release faster. That was the most pain I suffered. And I knew walking made it go away so I was quite the hall walker lol. PS: I forgot to mention that the gelatin jello I made has 7gr of.protein. so equal to an 8oz glass of milk. We all need options man. ☺ -

sallyomalley67 replied to ☁️9⃣B????'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I want to share a "recipe" I created today. I dont do the sugar substitutes (they mess with my tummy). I.wanted jello. So i thought hmmm. I got unflavored gelatin, followed directions to do microwave method for a single packet. So used 1/4 cup cold water and followed directions. Then, instead of adding more 1-1/4 water and flavoring, i used no sugar added fruit juice! It worked great! And its small enuff an amt that I can make other flavors without getting bored with it. I may have to make fruit popscicles next! Lol -

I had surgery on 2/27. Reading thru this post has made me so happy. Very positive people!!! I had my 1st follow up with my doc and he was super happy with my progress, how Im healing, and my attitude. I have wanted to do surgery for many years but never got the nerve. I now have a 3rd grandbaby and all I could think is that I cant even get on the floor to play with him. I was soooo ready for this new lifestyle! HW 338 SW 308 CW 295 A heads up all that I gained like 10 lbs after surgery. Came home at 318 and sorta freaked lol. Its normal apparently. But man. Did NOT see that one coming! -

sallyomalley67 replied to Kiwwi1991's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got sleeved on 2/27. Gained about 8lbs post op (fluids). Have now lost that plus 11 more for total of 19. Surprised every few days seeing the numbers come down. ???? Started feeling hungry a few.days ago. Have been reading about taking antacids. Will def look into that today. Had just finished a shake and felt "full" and 10 mins later felt like I could take down a steer and eat him all by myself lol. -

How old are/were you?
sallyomalley67 replied to ELI.p.m's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
47and wish i had it many years ago. I think the question of ha ing children is the biggest hold back to doing it early on. Discuss that at length with your doc. If i could have done it in my mid to late 20's I would have. -

CRAVING FRUITS AT ONLY 3 WEEKS AFTER VSG SURGERY!
sallyomalley67 replied to jissell1989's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jiselle1989. I keep hearing about lots of folks not losing weight in week 3. Our bodies seem to stall put at that point due to trying to keep up with the changes and starvation mode. Etc. Maybe add unflavored protein powder to your fruit puree. -
