  1. Ok don't be alarmed but I just got back today from getting a fill becasue I haven't had restriction or rather lost it within a month but we talked about this. When he pulled all my Fluid out to measure it he said great it's nice and clean I said what do you mean he said if you had a leak all the Fluid would be cloudy and dirty meaning your band would have a leak I was confused at how any fluid can get "in" he said the only way is if you have a leak in your band will the fluid be dirty, Well since mine was clean that thought was tossed out my head. I would ask him point blank could that have meant a leak in your band?!?!?!?!??!

Thanks so much for your input!!!!

  2. I didn't go with Dr. Hoffman so I am not sure how they handle everything. All docs are so different. My surgery was about 8 months after I got the ball rolling. However, my doc and insurance required me to do a six month supervised diet first.

I stayed in the hospital just overnight and went home the next day.

I had to do a one week liquid diet prior to surgery. I lost 10 lbs. from that alone. I think they do this so you are prepared to do liquids after the surgery.

    Good luck!

  3. I don't know much about hernias... but it seems from the posts on this site that many have had them fixed at the same time as this surgery. So I don't think it will be an issue.

BCBS of WNY approved me first try. But I have an Erie, PA doctor who made me do the 6 months surpervised diet prior to submitting. I don't know if this is part of what made them approve so quickly or not???? I also only had 80lbs to lose, so that won't be an issue either.

I say, go ahead and get your ball rolling. you sound like a good candidate to me!!!!

    Good luck!

  4. So I haven't had any restriction AT ALL for a couple of months now.

I am usually very sensitive to fills. Doc only gives me .5 cc and I have had to have 2 unfills in the past for being too tight from that little amount.

Now nothing. My last two fills were rather awkward and a bit painful. And he even put 1 cc each time. He had a hard time getting Fluid out to check and when he did, he said it was cloudy and replaced it with new. He couldn't really asnswer what would make this happen. He said maybe a kink in my tubing... but why would that make things cloudy???

I am certain something is going wrong here.

    Any ideas or similar experiences????confused.gif

  6. Sorry... I never did take good before and after pictures. But hopefully, these will show my progress.

I have been at a horrible stand still for a few months now. My last couple of fills have also been unsuccessful as I still have no restriction. Boo Hoo!

I am still doing great with working out... but need to stop snacking and manage my portions since the band is not kicking in right now.

thanks for sharing everyone! Hard to believe its been a year!!!:tongue2:

  7. After losing 60 lbs. and not even a full year out... BlueCross Blue Shield approved me as medically necessary!!! I was stunned!!

I went for the consult... just for the hell of it... and my doc marked my reason as rashes. Never had to prove it or anything... first try, approved!!!!!

Scheduled in February and still can't believe it!!!

  8. Hi Everyone!!! I am still checking in here every now and then!! Haven't checked the Merry Losers in quite some time so It was so refreshing to see how well everyone is doing today!!

I have been at a standstill and even put back on 2-3 pounds over the past couple months. However, I am getting back on the wagon tomorrow!!! Got to stop this snacking!!!

I even chimed in on the November Nymphs who have a mini challenge going from now until New Years day. I am hoping to lose 10 pounds with some seriously hard work and effort.

luv2teach... Really sorry to hear how bummed you are right now. It's always easier said then done... but take the negative and turn it into a positive. Enjoy being an independent woman on your own... it could be the best chapter of your life!! Make it happen!!! Never fear new possibilities!!!!

  10. I have had my band for almost a year and have had pretty good luck finding restriction after several fills.

For the past two months maybe... its seems that instead of a full feeling in my throat or esophogus area, I seem to get full to the left side of my ribcage ...where my port rests. Then the full feeling pushes against my port and causes some pain.

Any idea what could cause this??? Weird...
