CIGNA really screwed up this time.....
Genevieve L Thompson replied to losinit512's topic in Insurance & Financing
What might've happened (as I've seen this with other people) is that yes Cigna as a whole covers the surgery (I have Cigna as well) But your husbands employer (who can elect in or out of bariatric coverage) does NOT cover it which unfortunately means that there is no appealing because if your husbands employer has elected not to cover bariatric surgery then it's not an included benefit in your personal health plan. (Your husband can speak to HR again for verification) What the cigna employee probably did (which I'm not justifying by any means) is give you the general answer. Because the insurance does cover it but usually (and sadly) most places of employment elect out of bariatric coverage. I really am sorry about that hiccup and I pray it works out. Don't give up on your journey! -

Good Morning! I wanted to share my story.. I'm so inspired by all of the posts, support and pictures in this group. I'm 23.. My weight issue started young. I was assaulted several times when I was younger, tied in with being in a hostile home.. I used weight to stop the attacks. I felt that the rape would stop if I got bigger.. I would be less desireable. It continued.. Into my young adult life. I realized I allowed the pain to consume me, the violation hidden deeper as my waistline got wider. But I'm taking back the power I gave to my attackers. My Lord has been so great to me, and I will not fail. No more feeling like I'm 80 when I'm so young. No more joint pain. No more tears, insecurities and hiding in the shadows. I'm reclaiming my life. My spirit. And may no obstacle stop me. I claim this victory! First dr appointment tomorrow. ????❤???? God Bless you all.

Deductible help please :(

Oh okay thank you. I've seen that people didn't have to pay the whole thing upfront.. I have my first appointment tomorrow I'm going to ask my surgeon what my options are. I won't give up! -
Deductible help please :(
Genevieve L Thompson posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone..! I'm new, & have my first appointment with my doctor! (In shelton, Connecticut) on Thursday. I just got the call saying I'm covered.. But my parents switched insurance in January of 15 & the deductible is 4k! The woman said it goes towards visits ,etc but whatever is owed to the office has to be paid before procedure can be done.. I was told the deductible is what you pay before policy takes effect. What can I do? Can I do a payment plan? If I do the process of the sleeve with all the appointments needed before surgery, will it go down? Do I have any options or do I have to wait & save? I've waited for this for so long.. I'm getting really sad :/
