I am a november bandster, but saw your post. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 15 years of age. I had then even been battling my weight. My levels are checked yearly and have only had to have a couple of adjustments in that time. I too take synthroid and in generic form. Make sure that your blood tests are fasting (although some new docs don't think that is necessary) and give your body a couple of months to kick in. You will be amazed at how much better you feel when your levels are back in the normal range. I can always tell when I am out of wack! Good luck.

You can utilize any history you have of dieting. I have BCBS and got approved immediately based on my extensive history of weight watchers, diet pills, weight loss problems and documented history with physicians. Try getting your medical records and showing your history.

Thanks to all of you for the information... I am having a hard time with almost any meat, and until this last fill, bread was no problem. I have gone from being really careful, to really picky b/c of getting sick. I took two bites out of a small hamburger (home cooked) memorial day and was sick (throwing up) for an hour. I will closely watch my intake and re-evaluate my eating processes to see if I think I am too filled. Jack, I have a cruise in two months and it is my goal to reach "my goal" before I step on that ship. I hope I can manage!

I am similar to this situation. I was banded November 30th and have lost 52 pnds! I have leveled and although I think I need a fill have gotten stuck on this last 30 pnds. I think I am still in denial that it is even possible to see such low numbers.

Congratulations to you! I have gotten down as well, and people are really starting to notice! It is soooo exciting. I have not been on the board in a while and it is great to read all the stories that you guys are posting. I am in the same boat. I just went for my four month check-up and no fill. I had lost 12 pounds in a month since my last visit. I am half way there... You too and you look great!

Surgery done, sore and a little worried...
tyman311 replied to TX_IT_Chick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It all sounds pretty normal. You need to take things very slow when drinking anything the first week. GAS is horrible the first couple of weeks and will give you the pain you were describing. It will pass, I promise. -
I just had my first fill a week and a half ago. I go again at the end of February. It was noticeable and I began to loose weight again. I may need a little more. I have about 4.7 ccs in a 10 cc band.

tyman311 replied to RoseCity Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am from Longview... I got banded 11/30/07 and doing good. It is nice to see some people from east texas. I used Dr. B and loved him. You will like Cathy who is the person you have the most contact with and Dr. B does a very good job. I know several people that have used him for Gastric. -

November Nymphs: tell us something about yourself.
tyman311 replied to shortgal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is great! I am Shelly and am recently 34 years old. I live in Longview, Texas and have two boys, 5 & 7. I work full time as a probation officer at all of 4'10 inches... Can you believe it, but have been there a long time now. My husband and I are building our first real home and are very excited and stressed. I have battled my weight all my life and have the same issues when I loose, I just gain back more. I reached my highest weight this summer hitting 195, which is a lot for someone of my height. I decided that taking four - five medications a day at my age is ridiculous! So the surgery. I am six weeks post op with no fills. My DR. will not give fills until 6 weeks and I need one. I haven't lost any weight in almost two weeks. I am not gaining, but not loosing either! It will be great next week. Thanks to all of you for the support. I don't know what I would do! Shelly -

I really need to track what I am eating a little better it sounds like. With no fill yet, I am "able" to eat almost anything. I do the Protein shake for breakfast and then lunch and dinner. I thought banders were not supposed to snack! Everything I have read is to eat three meals a day and that the meals should sustain you until the next meal. HELP with this. I am not losing very well and that may be the problem. Besides that I need a fill!
-
I haven't even had my first fill. I don't know how you have had four! I have my six week check up next week (at seven weeks) and will get my first fill! Any advice for me!

November Nymphs Valentine Day's Challenge
tyman311 replied to hollyberries's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't find my name on here anywhere. I thought I signed up or am I missing the updated version. -
I was banded 11/30/07 and have not had a fill yet. I don't go in until 1/23/08 due to children's appointments interfering. I am not feeling much restriction, but would really like my feel. My weight loss has slowed down to almost nothing and that is making it just be a diet! I'm currently a little frustrated and hope my exercising makes the difference. I am ready for a fill!

Nymph's Valentine's Day Challenge Week 1 (1/10/07)
tyman311 replied to hollyberries's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would love to join in. I don't get to check in on the site that much and need some more motivation. I don't get my first fill until January 23rd and the weight loss has definately slowed. starting weight : 195 current weight: 167 goal for V-Day: 150! I have high expectations for this fill! Thanks for the motivation and Hope I can join in. -
I am getting the same concerns. I had to re-schedule my two week post op appt. and go in on the 31st. I am hoping I will get a fill to get rid of some of the hunger. I did ok during the holiday, but grazed quite a bit... That's worse than eating a meal.

We have a lot in common. I am the same age and well, I'm only 4'10" (stretching tall). I was banded 11/30/07 and luckily, have not experienced the "pb"... You will reach that goal!

Any November 23rd Bandsters or week of 19th?
tyman311 replied to happy2be's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It will come... I hear that you may not loose any "numbers" for a while and then loose 7 pounds in one day... I had problems with an incision and hope to start exercising next week! I'm a little slow. -
I wish I could help, but I am eating real food at this point. All these doctors are different. I did mostly soups in a blender. I was able to get the protein from the meat and enjoy some of the flavor. Good Luck

This is a great site with lots of information. I am doing o.k. and trying to go back to work tomorrow. There are still lots of concerns that I have. I am scared to take in too much too fast and am not getting very many fluids. Then, of course, I am concerned over dehydrating. Gas pain seems to be the worst for me in my upper abdomen. I will get a lot more walking in at work tomorrow. Don't think I will make the whole day, but going to make a shot at it!

What is PB'd??? I get that it is when food does not work, but what does that mean. I think I am brain dead before Christmas~

I am having problems with one incision site as well, but it is a small one right under my bra area. That is what started the problem. When I had to start wearing a bra that seemed to cause the problem and now the incision is still open. I went to the dr. yesterday and they removed a stitch that was not dissolving and may have cause some of the problem. I think I will get a butterfly as well and maybe that will help.
