March 18th the big day - anyone else?
Paychan replied to donnag53's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good luck to you! My surgery was March 9. The first few days were a little rough, but I am feeling great now. No regrets! You'll do great. -
I love Genepro! It has 30 grams of protein in one tablespoon. It is tasteless and odorless and supposedly mixes instantly in hot and cold beverages. However, I have found that not to be true. I haven't been able to mix it with cold. I use it in hot beverages. It's so easy to get my 60 to 90 grams per day this way.

How are my March 9th buddies doing?

I had my pre-op work up at the hospital yesterday. That's when I paid for my portion of the procedure. I think that's when reality set in for me. Ok. This is paid for now. That made it official. I am extremely nervous, but so very ready for this. I was originally scheduled for January 12 and to postpone due to work issues. I can't believe the wait is almost over. My surgery is 8:00 AM Monday morning. Good luck to everyone! -
I live in NC, but I have BCBS of MA through my employer. We are based out of Cambridge. Plans can vary quite a bit, but I was responsible for $20 copay for office visits. I also paid a $20 copay for my upper GI visit. My surgery is March 9 and my out of pocket will be $250. My total cost for the entire process is approximately $375.

March 9th for me as well! I am on day 6 of my pre-op diet of high protein/low carbs. I drink my protein shakes for breakfast and lunch. I am allowed a small low carb snack in between. I do a piece of string cheese for my first snack and a handful of almonds for my second snack. My dinner is then a few ounces of lean meat and a leafy or low starch veggie. Two days before surgery I will do all liquids. Detoxing from those tasty boxed foods with all those carbs has been tough. Staying under 1,000 calories per day is also challenging, but it's so worth it in the end. Good luck with your surgery!
