LosinginTX replied to BoerneTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it doesn't seem like it right now but, it gets easier and goes by relatively fast too. You'll be eating regular foods in no time. -

Cravings are returning
LosinginTX replied to mariecw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not having sugar cravings but, I am having strong cravings for things like hamburgers and Mexican food. I finally did have a turkey burger and just ate the meat and lettuce and tomato. It was good but, just not the same as biting into one. -
How many calories at week 8?
LosinginTX replied to nybaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never been given a calorie count to stay within. I've been told by my doctor to eat lots of veggies and fruits. However, you need allot of Protein to help in healing. So, I just make sure I get a minimum of 60 grams per day. I do eat right though and make sure to pick healthy choices. -
OK. So I can seriously eat anything..............HELP!
LosinginTX replied to lovedXJesus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so glad that you posted this because I have been feeling the same way. I am six weeks post op and luckily have not had any issues with food. I also do not experience that full feeling others do. I eat right and I prepare smaller portions than I normally would but sometimes after I eat I feel I could still eat more. Not that he can really do anything but, I'm going to bring this up with my Dr. in a couple of weeks when I go. -
It's takes like six weeks for the anesthesia to completely get out of your system.

hospital stay and back to work
LosinginTX replied to keriannk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one overnight stay. I only had pain meds the day of surgery and I was off work one week. Good luck! -
Hi! Can you please share with me what a typical day of your meals are? I'm just curious what everyone is eating once they moved into regular foods. Thanks!!
-
@bashlee, thanks for the suggestion. I have not heard of those but, I'm going to get one to try.

The scale is not moving!
LosinginTX replied to jencooper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I have experienced the same thing. Make sure to get all your Water (64oz) and get in lots of Protein and exercise. -
Thank you Crosby for the information. I will confirm with my Doctor and Nutritionist in a few weeks. I just can't stand the powders and for convenience I prefer ready made Protein shakes.
-
Yes, I love them. My favorite is the coconut and vanilla. Had one this morning with some chopped strawberries.
-
Hi, I read a post earlier and now I can't find it. It mentioned that Premier Protein shakes were not good for WLS patients. Is that correct? If so, just curious why? Thank you!

Wanted sleeve. Help me believe RNY is better.
LosinginTX replied to Gemini216's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I too went in wanting the sleeve procedure but, my doctor recommended rny because I have acid reflux. I also have arthritis but since my pre-op diet and post surgery I haven't had any issues with it at all. Just goes to show that allot of foods I was eating prior to my surgery really gave me so many issues. -
don't feel full?
LosinginTX replied to Joy Thompson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had the same issue since my surgery. I asked my Doctor at my post op appointment and he said it was normal. It wasn't till I started eating soft foods (this week) that I have finally had a full sensation but, not all the time. I had about 1/3 cup of food for dinner last night not including a little of avocado on the side and my husband was like "can you eat all that"? He wasn't being mean he just wasn't sure how much I was supposed to eat and I have to say neither do I. I wasn't able to eat it all but, it would really help me if I had a guideline to follow. -
No weightloss since first week and 1/2
LosinginTX replied to Rhines's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in week 3 and for the first week and half I had lost 18 lbs then I didn't lose any till this week since I have added soft foods. The key to is to get lots of Protein to help your body heal. It thinks it's in starvation mode so the more protein the better is what I was told.
