Money Problems, and the joys of 3 months out
Joey Jackson posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Firstly let me say, money has gotten tight. I have decided to open up a gofund me account. The link to it is gofund.me/joeywls It explains money wise the situation I am in, and any little amount goes a long way in helping with costs for me and my wife and family. Now onto what I wanted to share. I started weighing in at 435. I now weigh 362 as of this morning....so over 70 pounds lost so far. The biggest issue is I am still hungry.....not like I was but I still get cravings to go and eat things. Working out is getting better and easier to do. I feel a TON better, and if I wasn't so stressed about the money part of it I would have no regrets. Anyways, I hope you are all having success, and good luck to those considering it. -

Colby Jack cheese sticks is where it is at! I would also say, if you still enjoy some of the liquidy soups you were having you don't have to stop. Just try and get that Protein in.

I was sleeved on 3/3 So it has been about 16/17 days or something like that. On week 3....day 14....I was supposed to start softs. The foods Iw as told specifically to try were cottage cheese, eggs, Greek yogurt, string cheese, and really well chewed moist fish. For the past 3 days I have had an egg or two for Breakfast. I have had no real problems getting down two scrambled eggs. A little tough on the last couple of bites, but no real struggles. At lunch I have had greek yogurt, cottage cheese, or colby jack string cheese. No problems with those either. I have tried one piece of tilapia, one piece of salmon. Both of these weighed about 3 ounces....both of them I get close to finishing but get too full to finish the last 2 or 3 bites. I have usually reheated them later and ate the rest. The last day or so.....I have started to have some pain. I have not felt this pain before. Basically I have a stabbing type pain in my left side, a little below the farthest to the left incision. IT comes and goes, is not unbearable, but it is uncomfortable at times. I have also felt a similar pain directly in the middle of my stomach about 4-5 inches above the belly button. Once again stabbing pain that comes and goes that isn't horrible but doesn't feel nice. My question is am I eating to much causing the pain. IS it a muscualr problem or something along those lines....anyone experienced these pain s before and what did the doctor say? I walk about a mile a day, along with being a teacher and football coach. I have been taking it easy in class and gym class....but I am up and downa nd moving during the day along with the walking. Thank you all. -

3/3 surgery date - Went well without much of a problem. The gas build up in your shoulders and chest hurt, pretty much everything hurts that first day, but no unbearable. Lots of medicine and fluids, lots of sleeping. I was walking the hotel hall that night. 3/3-3/10 - Liquids liquids liquids. Very little pain after the first couple of days, but mostly tender. Hunger was GONE, couldn't believe how much I didn't want food. Lots of Water. Water water water. I was not a fan of broths, had a little chicken and a little beef and just stuck with the water. 3/10-3/15 - Protein shakes went down well. I used premier shakes, mainly vanilla. Have a bit of a chalky after taste but they all do. Tried some Jello, not bad. Lots of water. Started walking a mile and a half or so every day with my GF. 3/16 today - Was told by my doctor to give some softs a try. I had a slice of Colby Jack cheese. Tasted good and went down fine. Going to eat a little cottage cheese tonight. He told me to give an egg a try tomorrow, so looking forward to that. So far so good guys. I started day before surgery at 435 I weighed 413 this morning. -
Well it has been 7 days, and after a week of Water and Gatorade it is finally time to eat a few more things. The doctor told me to start every day with a Protein shake. They told me I could eat pudding, blended Soups, cottage cheese. Any suggestions on these? What to buy? Anything else to get?

I asked my doctor's nurse over the phone what were some softs to eat and try.... She told me really mashed up fish, chicken blended up, eggs, mash potatoes, and boudin. Now I used a Louisiana Dr......so that may be why lol. Anyone tried Boudin at the 3 week mark? just wandering if this would absolutely tear my stomach up or not?

I am going to Dr. Boreland March 3rd in Louisiana. I was wondering what are some things you wish someone would of told you to bring? I will be staying in a hotel there for 3 days. Alos anything else you might add you wish someone would have said. I have read a lot of the forum, but Im sure most of you did as well and still there were things you wish someone would have said.
