Acanthosis Nigricans (dark skin in folds)
This New Kim replied to eriadne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sure! My skin is significantly lighter. It appears mostly normal. My neck, besides the scarring, looks like I never had any issues. Also, my scarring seems less obvious. I don't know why. Maybe it's less inflamed? One of my underarms is still a bit dark, but not anything like it was previously. The coloring isn't weird to me. I'd wear sleeveless shirts if I wasn't so nervous about the loose skin now, hah. Well, I still wear them sometimes. Darkness on my upper legs has completely disappeared on one side, and is almost gone on the other. Overall, huge difference. I've lost almost 200 lbs, and I'm hoping as I lose this last chunk of weight that the rest of the discoloration will disappear. Also, the discoloration that's left is much smaller. It used to go pretty far down my side, but now it's just a small bit under my arm. Same with my leg. -

have a bunch of items in that range for sale. I'm using Poshmark, so you can see the clothes. I have multiple pictures, and I can answer questions if you have any. https://poshmark.com/closet/rionastar I'm trying to sell them fairly cheap as I know how hard it is to find clothes. -
https://poshmark.com/closet/rionastar If you haven't checked out Poshmark you might want to. Lots of people selling clothes for cheap.

Acanthosis Nigricans (dark skin in folds)
This New Kim replied to eriadne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've had issues with acanthosis nigricans since I was in elementary school. I had surgery March 9th and the discoloration has lightened significantly! I hope the trend continues. I feel much more comfortable wearing my hair in a ponytail now and wearing sleeveless tops. There is still darkness, it isn't "fixed," but it's definitely a significant improvement. I've had a lot of shame surrounding the dark skin for my entire life. When I was young my mother used to try to bleach my neck. Things were crazy. Anyway, I can't say the surgery will make it go away, but it's definitely helping me so far. -
Question for the ladies, period
This New Kim replied to LBS15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My period started about ten days after surgery and didn't stop for over a month. Heavy. I went to my gynecologist and they put me back on medroxyprogesterone (with approval from my surgeon) last Thursday which was supposed to control my period, but it came back in four days and it's still going. I know the PA said that the weight loss is going to release estrogen stored in the fat so periods are going to be weird, but I am so tired of bleeding so much. -
Hello ladies, So I had my surgery on the 9th of this month and I just got my period yesterday, but it's weird. The blood is a dark brown, kind of like the blood at the end of a period, and it's still that way today. The next part may be too TMI for some: anyway, I had a blood clot that was a normal size but it was very dark as well and kind of shriveled looking? It was odd. Nothing hurts or anything and I called my weight loss doctor who said it sounds normal, but if any symptoms come up to call my ob/gyn, but it's kind of creeping me out and I wanted to know if anyone has had anything similar. I was diagnosed with PCOS a while before surgery so I don't know if it's related, and I was having irregular periods that were being regulated with medicine that I've been off for quite some time now, so that could be related as well. But yeah, just curious if anyone has any insights.

Good hydration tracker apps?
This New Kim replied to missheidi47's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On mine there's a menu tab at the top left where you can go to your profile and put in your information. Do you have three bars at the top left? If so, click that and it should open up an option to go to your profile. -

Good hydration tracker apps?
This New Kim replied to missheidi47's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Hydro Coach, It lets you put the info in my ounce. It has suggested ounces and also a place to put in something different. It can also be set up to remind you to drink or if you're lagging behind, which is nice. It lets you set when the reminders will start and end during the day as well. -
TX - San Antonio anyone (far north side)
This New Kim replied to lisavz's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello! I'm also from SA. I just had my surgery on March 9th. -
I'm still on my period, and it looks more normal now..but it's still going. :/ I know the doctor said my body will be releasing a lot of estrogen as it burns through the fat and that things would be weird. I just hope it ends and normalizes soon.

I finally moved to full liquids! Yay!
This New Kim replied to sallyomalley67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been on full liquids since Monday. It's so nice! I can only have creamy Soups san chunks and tomato soup, really. I asked about a butternut squash one I bought, but was told it was too food-like. So, I'm jealous of your soups, but excited about mine. I can have sugar-free pudding though, and it's awesome! -
It could be from the anesthesia. It can make your throat feel rough for a while.

Still in the hospital. Being discharged in the morning. Feeling pretty good. Better every time I burp some of this gas out! That's my only complaint. So much less pain than I was expecting, but I only had gallbladder surgery to go off of. -

I went in for my second weigh in today and I've only lost an additional half pound since last time. Boo. I was so angry! -

Been doing pretty well! Luckily, mine isn't shakes only. I can eat a small meal 3-4 oz. meat and 1/2 - 1 cup of veggies. I've lost about 11 lbs so far. My next weigh-in in Wednesday and I'm excited to see how much more I've lost! Getting nervous, mostly because surgery in general is scary. But overall, super excited! -
How long did your hair fall out?
This New Kim replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ugh, now I'm terrified. My hair is already thin on top. It bugs me as is, I don't want to look like a balding man. I guess I'll ask my doctor about the Vitamins I'm supposed to be taking and if I should add anything for my hair. -

This New Kim replied to Garifab_VSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 shakes a day plus a small mean 3-4 ounces of Protein and a 1/2- 1 cup of veggies. -
March 9th as well! I've been on the pre-op diet for a few days. Messed up the first couple dinners! Better these last couple days. It's been tough. It's mostly tough when my husband is eating dinner and I'm eating my small, healthy dinner.

???? Calling all March Sleevers....let's support each other!????
This New Kim replied to time for june's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I'm new to the forum and am having my surgery on March 9th in Texas. I'm both very excited and nervous about all the changes to come. I saw someone mention their head hurting while starting the pre-op diet. Is this normal? My head has been hurting as well, but I'm a little sick so I assumed it was because of that. I know I'm hydrated enough, I'm drinking water non-stop essentially.
