Merry Losers! Happy Bandiversary Stats & Pics!
ThunderWheels replied to christasha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello all! Happy to see everyone hanging in there. My anniversary was 12/06/08 and I was down 95 lbs. I was shooting for 100 lbs by Dec 31st but I think it is safe to say I will exceed that goal. I am losing at may fastest pace ever right now and it is great. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New You! -
DFW has gotten mighty quiet out there! How is everyone doing? No problems, issues or concerns? Everyone still losing? I had my biggest month yet last month. 18 in one month. I am ripped! Ok, not really, but I am 18lbs lighter.

Lachica, you are in the right place for help. My first 4 months after my first fill were the slowest. I can't say exactly what is going with you because I am not a Dr. and I don’t have all the facts like what you pig out on. But I would venture to say when you are vomiting you are eating a little too much and to fast. Vomiting is a sure sign of overload. Try a protein shake, high protein low fat and sugar smooth, or and meal replacement drink like Metrx earlier in the day. Gradually add solid food in the next meal and a little more the final meal. Please avoid pigging out if at all possible. Most of us can eat more at the end of the day than beginning. My father is banded also and he had the vomiting problem and it turns out he was overeating and not chewing very well. You should not get a fill until you adjust your eating. If you are vomiting and you get a fill you may worsen the condition which can lead to some serious issues with the digestive system. I think you should start a food journal for now. I know it is a pain but it really does help at keeping you accountable for what you are stuffing in the mouth and you will see results. Hang in there lady, this is not a race but a journey. We are all headed in the same direction each at our own pace.

White Linen Bombshell in the City. The dress was a great find at Le Avenue. The belt is a staple. The bag is FIERCE! PS The dress is still being sold at the Avenue. Kinda wishing I had bought the pink one too. Never mind the wrinkles, it is linen.

Awesome, glad to see you are doing good now. I hope you have been able to maintain so far. I look forward to us sharing war stories again. Maybe we can do some soup for lunch sometime soon! Tell the gang hello.

Hi everyone in DFW land. Kind of quiet out there. Are we still losing weight? Miss Meliss, did you get your banding? How is it going? What about the rest of you? I am down around 60lbs now and I can physicaly tell a big difference already in the way I move, sleep, and get around.

Chris, you the man. Can't wait to see you on ESPN. I got to get more exercise time in! Go strong or go home I always say. Glad to see so much success here. I am in a really tight fill period going on for about the last three weeks but hey, 13lbs in 3 weeks, I will live! Go team go!

Hi Destiny79, I haven't been on here in a while and looks like you are doing great. Keep up the good work. I am down about 60 now since December. It has speed up this month. My fill is really full! I need to check into that bodybugg thing.

UT LB Loser, you are a monster! You have lost 20lbs more than me and I banded the day after you. Great work and congrats. I have fallin off the excercise bandwagon in the last few weeks but I am back on now. Glad to see you doing so well.

Hey lady! I was just going to mail you today but I got distracted putting out fires. I am fine. Down about 35lbs now. I just got my third fill and I am filling it. Nothing bad though, just nice to have some emergency brakes. How are you coming along? I bet you all skinny now!! -

Hello everyone, I am new here to the forum and my journey begins today. I have wanted to get the lap-band surgery for many years but only recently joined an insurance plan that would pay for it. Otherwise I was about to pay out of pocket. (thank goodness I waited) I am excited like you wouldn't believe. I really feel the procedure will help change my life. I am a fairly social person even as a big man. I have always tried to let my size not get in the way of living. But I have to say at 40, things are getting a bit tougher and the body getting a bit beat up. I am a musician and it is getting harder to play those long gigs. Getting real sick of taking all sorts of meds and pain killers. My quality of life is starting to take a hit so I know I have to do something before it is too late. Today, 12/02/07, I begin my pre-op liquid diet. My surgery is 12/06/07. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Robert Snow in Hurst, TX. I had a big Cowboy Cut Ribeye at Kirbys last night just to say goodbye to the old man. Today is hello to the new. I know it will be a tough week but I will take it one day at a time. I am drinking fruit smoothies, muscle milk lean muscle drinks, blended Soups and V8. Any food suggestions are welcome. I have gathered a lot of information here in the forum and help to share my own success stories with you folks soon. :whoo::clap2: -

Well, just about 2 months out now and I am holding at about 30lbs +-. I get my second fill today and I could use it. I feel as if I have no restriction at all. I had a 16 oz steak on my birthday (back to the steak thing again) and experienced no problem with it at all. Matter of fact, I have had no problem with foods at all. No pb's, no slimes, nothing. I had some restriction after the first fill, nothing major but enough to hold the snacking down but now it is all shear will power to stop from over doing it. I am excercising at least 3 days a week. I plan to put it in overdrive the next 4 weeks in order to meet my personal goals. Just hoping fill two makes it a little easier. -
crossing my legs at long last!!

Putting a laptop computer on my lap would be nice!! -
Wow, congrats. You are having a great start. Keep up the good work. I did 17lbs the first 2 weeks but 2lbs a week since then which is normal. I had my first fill yesterday with Dr Snow.

I have lost 25lbs so far and I get my first fill today. I am exercising about 4 days a week focused on weight training. I try to walk a mile each session. I eat decently with lots of room for improvement. I think you are doing fine. Remeber it is a marathon not a sprint. Make sure you mix it up exercising. You need to get some weights in. That makes for better use of insulin and a 24/7 burn. Find a friend to walk or join a gym. Don't be afraid of the shiny gym and skinny spandex. You just do your thing!
-
LaraTX, that sounds about average to me. I have lost 25 total. 9-10 was in the 5 days of fluids before the banding. I was banded 12/6 and I have not been doing bad at all. Have you had a fill yet and how is your eating? You should not be disappointed in anyway.

Sorry Cavegirl for responding so late. I haven't been on lately. How did everything go? Hope you are doing great! I go for my first fill today and boy am I ready! I have been able to keep the old belly under control for the most part. Some days I can eat more than others. Some days I feel like I have some restriction and some days I feel none. But for the most part I have not been out of control and I have kept the Snacks to a bare minimum. I began working out 2 weeks ago. I have found I have more energy and stamina already. I can walk a mile and I have put together a fairly nice weight lifting routine. So far I am down about 26lbs in 6 weeks. Thats a blessing in itself. BP has been about 98/68, sugers real nice and normal even after eating. I am really feel this is going to work out real nicely!!

My fill is at Dr. Snows office. I wish I could say I was at 1000 cal but I would be lying. Fortunately I haven't really gotten to eating more until this week. I have to slap my own hand because you know it is hard not to office snack during the holidays. I am doing the chewing thouroghly thing and I can't eat and drink at the same time so I am being careful. Lots of great N.O. musicains in Dallas. We my have a shortage of good venues but not talent.

Thanks Destiny, jazz is good! Working on making it better! Hope you are doming along well. I was banded the day before you by Dr. Snow. I get my first fill on Jan 14th. I will be glad because I am getting my appetite back and feeling very little restriction. Having to be very aware of what I am eating to stay in control. Cheers!

I hope all you December banders had a wonderful Christmas and that the gift of a lapband you have received blesses your life tremendously. Happy New Year to you all. And all you DFW residents and folks everywhere, please be safe out there New Years eve. :whoo::present::thumbs_up: Go Cowboys!!

Yeah, they can kiss my wet yellow snow! First they hate you because you are not a twig boy or a Men's Health cover model. Now they want to hate you because you didn't lose it the way they want you to. Congrats to those who did lose it without sugery as well to those like myself who did get the sugery. Fact is, the sugery is an assist to losing weight and not going to work without you doing what it takes to get the weight off (diet and excercise). Those who do it without the surgery also have assists in the form of dietary programs, exspensive trainers and gyms, gourmet cooks(ask Janet Jackson)! So thumbs up to any who lose it and keep it off. It is not easy no matter how you do it.

18lbs down since 12/03/07. Best Christmas gift I could ever have. This is a beautiful thing!!

gg88, I totally feel you on the sleep thing. I thought I was going to fall asleep on the elevator in my condos going home. I would wake up just to go to sleep. Not familar with lovenox?? I was a little sore but no pain. I really haven't been noticably hungry until today when I went back to work. And that feel was quickly squashed. I am a little worried I am not eating enough, even though it is only liquids. But I am guessing that is a short term effect.

New/Improved Band
ThunderWheels replied to hajohnson1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aimee, go to the beginning of this thread and you will see what we mean by new band. This does not mean the previous version is bad. As with all technology, (hopefully) it improves over time.
