I've lost 112 pounds and have 60 more to go. I feel great, I look great but it's much harder now than in the beginning. I'm so thankful to have my sleeve but I have to eat low carb if I want to continue losing. I hope you are all happy and doing well. [emoji8]

I was a Diet Coke junky before surgery. I didn't try to stop before surgery and you can't drink it after surgery. I've tried it a few times since my vsg and it tastes metallic to me, gross! So the problem took care of itself. I drink a lot of crystal light peach tea now. It has a little caffeine and keeps me hydrated. Good luck!

My anxiety has decreased since vsg in July. Yes food is no longer a coping mechanism but I also feel better physically and am happier overall. I suspect you feeling better overall will help your mental health in the long run. Good luck to you

I have my 7 month check up tomorrow and I'm feeling great. I've lost 92 pounds since surgery and am so thankful for this change in my life. I'm more than halfway to goal and I finally feel like it's attainable. I'm hoping to lose 130 pounds by my one year anniversary. Praise God for this surgery and for my success.

Surgery today. Miserable...any advice?
Jessicacherry3 replied to walkinggirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You made it! Every day will be better but you will feel like crap until you sleep a night at home... At least that was the case for me. Keep sipping the liquids and try and walk tomorrow a few times to get the gas out. Congrats on starting your journey! It will be one of the best things you ever did ???? -
I've found that regularly eating foods that are high in good fats has helped me. So I try and eat one or two avocados a week since the majority of the other food I eat is naturally low in fat. When I eat cheese or things like that, I buy the full fat versions as well. The fat doesn't seem to have slowed my weight loss, down 86 pounds since my surgery in July, and I haven't had problems with my hair falling out. Good luck to you on your journey and prayers for a speedy recovery ????

I just got back from vacation and nervously stepped in the scale this morning. I lost more than two pounds which dropped me into the 200s!!! Woo hoo! 299.7 is way less than 300, right? ????. And when is the last time I lost weight while in vacation?!? It's never happened! Then when I got to work this morning my coworker, who had wls more than 10 years ago, told me I could NOT wear these pants again. She is my clothes barometer and tells me when I've crossed the line from baggy to unacceptable. Today is a great day❤️

I would call your local BCBS office and see what an individual plan would cost you. They have different levels of plans and may have one that covers WLS that is also affordable. And just so you know, Medicare is for seniors, Medicaid is for poor people. If you remember care for older folks, aid for poor folks, you can keep them straight ????. Good luck and don't give up... You can appeal decisions made by your insurance and sometimes help from your doctor advocating for you goes a long way. ❤️

I've found two negatives from major weight loss!

One bad thing I came across this morning was that I don't have any fast food napkins in the center console of my car anymore. My nose was running and I didn't have any Kleenex in my purse. I reached for the usual stash of napkins in my center console and there weren't any! Guess I'll have to put some Kleenex in there for back up ???? -
how long to take off work? RN here

I have a desk job and took 3 weeks off. I was sure I could go back after 2, but there was no way... I was exhausted. For your job I'd say 6 weeks for sure. Good luck! -
Have you tried gummy vitamins? I couldn't tolerate the chewables but the gummies sit just fine. Good luck!

Prayers for you and your wife ????❤️

Does anyone ever imagine their tiny tummy as an evil dictator who is trying to take over your body? Maybe I'm the only one?!? Sometime I imagine trying to reason with him... Me:This red, ripe tomato is tasting so good, don't you agree tiny tummy? Evil tiny tummy: yes it is... Wait, I changed my mind. No it isn't, now let's see how fast you can run to the bathroom. Me: I don't get it, we've eaten tomatoes in things, why don't you like them by themselves? Evil tiny tummy: hahaha (evil laugh) because I decided we didn't today! Me: tiny tummy, how come I can eat 5 ounces of Greek yogurt, 3 ounces of chicken, but only 1 tablespoon of tuna? Evil tiny tummy: because, I do what I want! Hahaha (more evil laugh). Anyone else have funny tiny tummy struggles to share?

Things you wish you knew....

After you get home, and for the first week or so, don't trust a fart. Wish i would've known that. Gross, but true! -
Yay! Way to go. That is so exciting!!

Not weighing for 2 more weeks! Need support :)
Jessicacherry3 replied to Bndtoslv's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Relax and enjoy your vacation! You are doing well nutrition wise so don't worry about the scale. If you need to think about it, just imagining how good you will feel when you get home and see that you maintained or lost weight while on vacation. When is the last time you can honestly say that happened?!? ???? -
How can I prepare for my post-op life?
Jessicacherry3 replied to Katsitsyahawe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations on making the decision to have WLS and get healthier! You can find coupons online for Premiere Protein shakes. They are pretty good as far as protein shakes go and with the coupon they aren't too bad. Since you won't be spending money on eating out and other foods, the liquid diet shouldn't be too hard on your budget. You can also talk to your insurance company about possibly covering part or all of the cost of the shakes. I was like you, hungry all the time. VSG made a huge difference for me. Even when I'm hungry now, which isn't that often, I can only eat a small amount and then I'm super full. It's truly an answer to my prayers. Good luck to you! -
Talk with your doctor about it and see if he has some suggestions. At one month out I was allowed to eat some crackers and that helped me. I was sick of all the sweet tasting protein and the crackers were a nice crunchy treat. Maybe you could try some soft cheeses instead of the protein bars and see if that helps. Good luck and let us know how you're doing in the future.

I was sleeved on July 7 and it was the best decision I ever made! I was so tired all the time and never wanted to do anything after I got home from work or on the weekends. Now I have so much energy and am back to doing the things I love and don't feel like I need a nap all the time . For the folks who haven't gone through with the surgery, I can't say enough about how great you will do. Yes, it is hard in the beginning, but I'm 6 weeks out and can tell you it is worth the hard times. Last week when I weighed I was down 36 pounds, but the energy I have is even better than the weight loss!!! Good luck to everyone who is pre-surgery! ????

Whoa! Classification change
Jessicacherry3 replied to Mini_me007's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Way to go! I'm in the same boat as you. Scary to think we are in the same classification as someone who is 800 pounds. Even scarier to know that I could've gotten there without realizing it or stopping myself. -
Prayers sent ????

I would tell your doctor that you want your medical file documented that you are unable to return to work. Tell him that when he forces you to return to work, and you pass out and injure yourself, you want to make sure that your file is documented well for the lawsuit. Maybe that'll get his attention. You know yourself better than he does. I went back to work after 3 weeks, but I struggled. If he doesn't help you, maybe you can go to your primary care doctor for another medical certification. Good luck!

I can't wait to go horseback riding again! I rode and had horses up until about 8 years ago. Looking forward to a long trail ride in the Smoky Mountains. -

July 6th 2015 (or close) sleevers...how are we doing?
Jessicacherry3 replied to GirlOnFire's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery was July 7 and I'm going back to work tomorrow. I started eating eggs and cheese this last week and it has done wonders for my energy. I'm down 25 pounds but my loss has definitely slowed since adding more foods. I have a pain that hurts badly when I bend down to pick things up off the floor, but I'm hoping that goes away soon. Best of luck to everyone!
