I'm drinking the pre made Premier Protein drinks.
My head isn't so bad today. It comes and goes, unlike the last 2 days where it's has been a constant pounding feeling.
Now I'm having trouble with my legs cramping up. I can deal with the cramps. I'm just glad my head is feeling better.

Thank you all so much!
Right now I'm so groggy and sleepy and feel like my head is gonna pop off.
I am not allowed to have any meats or veggies. Only Protein shakes, broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding, Greek yogurt

So I've had a bad headache since late Tuesday night. Preop diet started Monday. Is this something that happens or should I be worried? If it does happen, how long will I be like this? It's miserable.

My surgery date is Feb 1st! Preop diet starts Monday.

Hello all! I know it's been a few months. But after all that happened, we won the appeal. 2 days after winning the appeal, I had to reapply for Medicaid. I missed the income cutoff by $20 a month, therefore I was suspended and no longer receive Medicaid. I was devastated! I gained 10 lbs within 2 months. All I did was eat.
My luck finally took a turn for the better when my mom got a new job and added me to her insurance. I found out Tuesday that I am approved! Surgery date Feb 1st. liquid diet starts Monday.
Wish me luck!

Thank you! Hopefully that will be my case. I'm just so ready to have it :/

DO NOT CHOOSE ANTHEM, ever!!!
It's terrible. I've had the worst time with them.
Initially, they told me I had to lose 10% of my starting weight during the 6 month diet. After it was all said and done, they denied me because since I lost 20 lbs over the 6 months, surgery is not "medically necessary" and I can lose weight on my own.
My surgeon was furious and is in the process of appealing.
If the appeal gets declined, I'm switching my plan and will start over starting 1/1/16.
Good luck!

Every time I called I was told something different. They couldn't send me the qualifications in writing. One person would read it to me while the other would say, it's case by case and it's all dependent on if it's medically necessary.
-
Yeah I know.
It's just so unreal. I don't want to get discouraged but it's hard not to. My surgery is supposed to be October 19 and I'm supposed to start preop diet Monday.
I'm calling tomorrow evening to see if my surgeon had the peer to peer meeting with the medical advisor at my insurance company.

I have anthem blue cross blue shield.
-
Oh I am!
My surgeon will fight it, hard. They said its not right at all. I don't know how they can do that. I was so upset then the anger sat in. And now I'm furious! At least deny me for something else if you're going to, not for something you said had to be done!
-
I have no idea!
My surgeon is supposed to be having a conference call with the medical director over my case with the insurance company either tomorrow or Friday. Hopefully I will have more answers then.

They did use my initial weight and BMI. But because I lost during the 6 months, they said I can lose weight on my own so it's not a necessary surgery. But they told me I had to lose during?! I'm so confused and annoyed. We are appealing. My surgery date is set for October 19th. Preop diet starting this coming Monday. I hope I don't get majorly set back. ????

So here's the deal. At my first appointment back in March, I was told by my doctors office that my insurance requires me lose 10% of my starting weight. So, of course I tried my hardest on my diet and lost the necessary weight.
Submitted to insurance Monday and yesterday I was told that I was denied by my insurance company because I lost weight on the 6 month diet, which means that surgery is not "medically necessary" for me to lose weight.
How can they tell you to do something and then deny you because you done what they ask?!
My insurance coordinator was FURIOUS and said my surgeon would be as well. They were going to try to set up a peer to peer conference with the medical director that was over my case and my surgeon.
Opinions, please?!

So get ready for this.
At my initial appointment, I was told that my insurance required me lose at least 10% of my initial weight during my 6 month supervised diet.
I lost 20 pounds.
The denial reason is that because I lost 20 pounds over the 6 months, the surgery is not deemed "medically necessary" because I can lose weight on my own.

Congrats! I got denied. Bummer ;(

I absolutely agree that waiting is the worst. My doctors office called me with a surgery date. October 19th is the day, pending insurance approval. I've about drove myself crazy thinking about it. I hope your alls approvals come in soon! Waiting is absolutely agonizing.
-
It is odd. I've never been more nervous in my life. I just want to know one way or the other.
-
I just received the call from my surgeons office, surgery is scheduled for October 19th!
Now comes the agonizing wait to see if insurance approves, I'm so nervous about this! Why can't they submit to insurance and then give you a date? It's gonna be terrible to have a surgery date and then be told I wasn't approved by insurance. ????
-
My surgeon uses my initial weight! Good luck to you!
-
I'm just so worried about not getting approved that I have so many thoughts running through my head! I should find out sometime in September if I am approved! Keep your fingers crossed! Thanks for your input.

Thanks for your input!
This is just a very stressful time for me. Worrying about not getting approved and this and that. I may not even have to change plans. I just over analyze everything. It's hard when you want something so bad and you're scared its gonna fall through.
I have blue cross blue shield of KY and as of right now, it's still a requirement for me.

Anyone been denied so you changed your insurance?
Just wondering if the "medically supervised diet" process would have to start over if I change insurance plans? That would be another longgg 6 months
9 weeks post op..help
in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Yesterday made me 9 weeks post op. For the last 3-4 weeks I have been stalled. I go up 2 pounds, down 3, up 1, down 2. I was 267 on surgery day(feb 1st). I am 5'8. Last Thursday I weighed 229 now this morning the scale showed 233. Do you think I am done losing? I'm getting in Protein and Water and 2-4 small meals/snacks throughout the day. Anyone else with stats around mine with some encouragement? I'm so scared I'm not going to lose anymore.
