    Hair loss

I had substantial hairloss from months 3-6. Around month 7 it just stopped. I didn't change anything, so I think it just ran its course. Just make sure you get your protein, water, and vitamins, and it will eventually lessen.

    Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!

I'm also in the 3 months, no, no, no category. I will say, in weeks where I have a few drinks my weight loss is slower, which is frustrating. Also, I get tipsier faster, so my biggest change in drinking habits from before surgery to now is that I cannot drink as much as I used to (I'm also 100 pounds lighter, so that may play a part in that).

    Pregnancy after surgery

My doc only recommended waiting a year. I don't know anyone that's been pregnant after the sleeve, but there is a forum on this site about the topic.

When did people notice your weight loss?

I had people close to me say something around 40-50 pounds down, but once I hit around 75-80, I started getting comments from acquaintances.
  6. . YES! My husband gets offended that I don't want to share. We shared food presurgery, but for me it is like an ownership thing post surgery. Even though I can't eat it doesn't mean I want to share it! Also, I think for me it's a bit psychological. I haven't quite figured this one out for me. I'm the exact opposite. I NEVER shared food before surgery, but now, as soon as I'm done, it's fair game for my husband. If he's not around, my extra food usually goes straight into the trash, so at least when he poaches off my plate, I know it's not going to waste.

    Vitamins made me puke!

I'm in the same boat. I couldn't tolerate chewable Vitamins at all, so at my 1 month appointment my doctor and NUT approved me moving to capsules. The capsules still make me sick if I'm not careful, but if I spread them out through the day (I take 3/day) and always eat something right after taking them, I'm usually okay.
  8. Recently I've been LOVING Hint Water and Ayala Herbal Water. I've found Hint Water at Whole Foods and my normal grocery store, but the Herbal Water I've only found at my normal grocery store. They're unsweetened. Some of my favorite flavors are Honeydew, Watermelon, or Cucumber for the Hint Water, and vanilla Mint Lemongrass or Lemon Ginger for the Herbal Water.
  9. My surgeon told me there was an 80% chance I'd only be there one night. I had a lot of pain and nausea, and I wasn't ready to go home the day after surgery, so they kept me another night. By day 3, I went home feeling a lot better (so 2 nights in the hospital).
  10. I wanted to be as prepared as possible, but I overshopped! I didn't want to eat anything more than just once or twice, so I ended up throwing a LOT away. I wish I knew that it would take a WEEK for the gas pain to go away. Also, I didn't know that the gas pain would be worse than any other pain. Finally, I wish I knew it would take 3-4 weeks for me to get my energy back. I was completely zonked out the first few weeks.

    After surgery help?

I needed help the first few days while I was in the hospital, but by the time I got home on day 3 3, I was okay by myself while my husband was at work. He had to help with laundry, feeding the dogs, and basically anything involving bending over or heavy lifting.
  12. AWESOME! I finally met Dr. Scott this past Wednesday morning and I will say that when I left the waiting room was PACKED! I will continue to make my appointments at the beginning of the day. Question for you. How long did it take you to get approved and then scheduled for surgery? How long was that process? They told me up to 6 weeks. After I submitted, 6 weeks sounds about right. (Granted, that doesn't include the 6 months of document gathering leading up to submission). It took about 2 weeks for my insurance to approve, then surgery was about 3-4 weeks after that. I was so impatient and would have loved for it to go faster, but it all worked out fine.

Roll call all who had surgery JUNE 2015

I was sleeved 6/9, and I'm down about 30 pounds. I'm currently in a stall, which is annoying, but I'm trying to be patient. The hardest part is keeping myself from thinking "ok, I'm done losing weight..I guess that's it". I know the stall will break eventually and I'll get back to losing weight, but part of me still doesn't believe that. I just keep reminding myself that I'm happy with my progress. Anyway, I'm currently eating ground meats, steamed frozen veggies, and thin shaved deli meats. I cannot wait for next week when I can get back to eating raw crunchy veggies and nuts and seeds, plus chicken! I see lots of salads in my future! The past few days nothing really sounds appetizing, so I've just been focusing on getting in my Protein and liquids. All in all, can't complain!
  14. Dr. Scott did my surgery (gastric sleeve) in June. I really like him, and I have no regrets choosing him as my surgeon. A few words of advice - appointments with Dr. Scott are very short as they usually double or triple book him, so if you have any questions, write them down ahead of time and make sure to get them in before the appointment is over. Also, appointments earlier in the day have shorter wait times (I've waited up to an hour after my appointment time for a 5 minute appointment). He's also very matter of fact, which could be off-putting to some people, but I appreciated it very much. The nurses at MyNewSelf are really good and super nice. Your nurse will have to schedule your actual surgery, and even after insurance approval that takes time. They're also very difficult to get in touch with (which can be irritating if you're impatient like me). The care at the hospital before and after surgery was much better than I could have hoped for. I was really impressed with everyone I was in contact with - from nurses to techs and the doctors I saw there. Overall, I would recommend Dr. Scott to anyone. Good luck!
  15. I felt physically better within 7-10 days, but I was really fatigued and had some brain fog for the first 3-4 weeks. By a month out, I felt like I had my energy back.
