    Camp Gladiator

Sounds scary! LOL I haven't heard of camp gladiator. Might be a regional program? Good luck!

    How many ?

Calories and carb intake will increase with time after your surgery. You really need a nutritionist to help guide you. What you can do at one month out is very different from 6 months out. You will need more than 60 grams as the months progress most likely. I am supposed to be getting 80-90 which I have a hard time getting to

    Day 2 and very week

Each day will get better. Just concentrate on water intake and a few sips of a protein shake (or more if you can). One step at a time.....you will feel better soon :-)
  4. Hey there- - How long ago was your procedure? Feb 2015. I am almost 8 months post-op now. - What was your starting BMI and what is it now? Starting BMI was 46 and now I am 29 (I think) - if you could magically go back in time and revisit your decision, would you still get the sleeve procedure Absolutely - no doubt.
  5. I enjoyed some baby foods at that stage. Also, Pinterest has a lot of ideas. One day at a time - you'll get there :-)
  6. A part of me thinks this is not a serious post? Are you truly serious? If so, you are really compromising your health. Protein - if you don't get a good amount in you will feel tired, run-down and will eventually cause you to loose your hair. Protein intake is probably the most important part of the process. Carbs - the way my doctor explained it to me is that eating carbs - whether it is one bite or a whole serving - causes everything you eat after it to be stored as fat for about 12+ hours. He is okay with "good carbs" such as vegetables (other than potatoes). No bread, Pasta, Cereal, oatmeal, potatoes, sugars etc. You really shouldn't even crave these things after the surgery anyway. You should keep researching, reading, find a support group and ask all these questions at your next appointment. Good luck!
  7. I had some reflux issues after my surgery. Pepcid makes a chewable that worked great for me.

    Headaches

My headaches have almost diminished since my surgery. I take extra strength Tylenol though when I need some. I am almost 8 months out so pills are no problem for me.

    Sharp Pain

I had lingering gas pain for about a month after my surgery. If it went away I wouldn't worry about it but you could always check in with your doctor just to make sure :-)
  10. You might be an over-thinker like I am. I had all the same concerns. Bottom line is that you may not be around in 10-20 years to even worry about the long term effects if you remain obese. I made the decision to just do it! Put all doubts aside and just went with the flow. There are a lot of steps to the process and I just took them one step at a time and didn't dwell on what the 3 steps ahead were. I would schedule the surgery and try the vegetarian diet between now and then. If you make it through Thanksgiving without cheating and you are loosing weight then just cancel or postpone the surgery. Good luck!

    Sagging tummies!

My stomach is also a bit saggy and squishy. I had twins 15 years ago and my stomach was stretched waayyy out. I have stretch marks that reach above my belly button. I am almost 40 and happily married so I am just going to live with it. I am pretty sure plastic surgery is the only way to truly take care of the problem and I do not have the money for that.

To Tell or Not to Tell?

I told no one at work except for one person and she knows she is the only one. When people ask how I am loosing weight I don't feel I am lying - I just don't mention the surgery. I tell them eating less and concentrating on high protein and very low carbs. Good luck!
  13. If I have not had enough protein during the day I start to get sluggish. Make sure you are keeping up with that!
  14. I would find a Protein shake you like and substitute that for some of the soup. A lot of soups are very high in sodium and it could be leading to Water retention? Have you tried Syntrax nectar Protein Powder? It is more like a flavored water instead of a chocolate shake.
  15. Maybe bring a Protein shake to those meetings so you can "eat" with them?

    6 week stall

Hang in there and keep doing what you are supposed to be doing. I am almost 7 months out and I have hit a stall 4 times so far. Stalls suck but they are a normal part of the process :-)

    any regrets

No regrets!! Just tell people you aren't looking for their opinion. You are just letting them know what is going on. The beauty of the sleeve is that you loose your cravings. I even lost my desire to even eat for about 5 months. Before my surgery I would sit down with a mixing bowl full of Lucky Charms or a huge bowl of ice cream. Two of my favorites!! Well, used to be. Now I haven't had any Cereal of any kind since 2 weeks before my surgery. And I don't even care! I do not have any cravings. It is awesome! Good luck :-)
  18. That is a good question! Following this thread to see what the answer is.

    7 days post op

I know how you feel! The first 10 days were pretty hard for me. The best thing you can do is drink water (as much as you can), drink your protein and keep moving. Each day will be a little better than the last. Hang in there!

    Question!

My surgeon told me the sleeve can be stretched over time from starchy foods, carbonation and over eating. At least you have caught this before you had to go up a size. You know what you need to do! Good luck :-)
  21. I thought about all those same issues. I just had to stop over thinking the process and just go with the flow. Take it one step at a time and don't think too much about what you will have to do months from now. Just know that the outcome is soooo worth the trouble you go through in the beginning of the process. You will not regret this decision. The hardest part of the whole process is in the pre-surgery stage through about 6 weeks out. Remember to tell yourself that each day you get through is a day towards feeling AWESOME! Good Luck :-)
  22. I am 6 months out and I will eat bread, Pasta, rice and/or potatoes occasionally. I am eating such a small amount of them (concentrate on your protien!) that has gone okay. I didn't attempt to try any of those until I was about 4 months out.

    Things you wish you knew....

I wish I had known I would be getting a shot in my stomach on surgery day (that one wasn't pleasant). I also wish I had known about the horrible gas pains in my abdomen and shoulder after surgery. They tell you to expect some pain but this was more than I was expecting. Just keep telling yourself "This is all temporary!!" It is sooo very worth it :-)
  24. That is different from what my doctor had me do. I would do as they say though :-)

    Doesn't it get annoying?

I purposely didn't tell anyone I work with about the surgery for that very reason. People can really be judgmental and give opinions that aren't welcome. There is nothing easy about loosing weight this way. The first 2 months were very difficult but so very worth it. Hang in there!
