Congrats! Keep up the good work and you will hit One-derland before you know it :-) -
Will I be able to go back to work in 5 days?
twinhappy replied to BobbyD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have an office job and I am 39 years old and in good health except for the extra weight. I found returning to work after one week was very difficult. The reason is because I was so run down from the lack of food over the prior 3 weeks. I felt very foggy and had a hard time concentrating. I was also having an issue with bad reflux. If it is possible you should take the monday and tuesday off too. You will feel much better by the time you return from the Thanksgiving break. -
Gummy Vitamins have carbs in them so you really have to watch that. I took them for about a month when I was just sooo sick of the chalky chewables. After that point I was able to take pills.

Dinner is served! And lunch for tomorrow!
twinhappy replied to Ashlegal's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thanks - just printed it off to make this week! -
I felt the same way right after my surgery. I broke down and cried around day 10 and thought "what did I do to myself?!" Here is the good news - every day you get through will be better than the last! Then you will realize one day - Hey, I feel great! I am 8 months out and couldn't be happier. You really just have to get through the first couple weeks. Remember to drink your protien and Water. I had to take chewable Pepcid to control the acid reflux during the first couple weeks. Good luck and we are all here for you!

I was about 6 weeks out and we went to a Mexican restaurant and ordered fajitas. I just ate some chicken and steak and a little bit of peppers. It was so nice to feel normal! Actually - I didn't have the steak at 6 weeks. Just the chicken. I did graduate up to steak at 3 months though.
-
You look great - congrats! Are you not able to swallow pills yet? I was able to after about 3 months. I don't know what I would do if I had to keep on chewing disgusting vitamins!

I am drinking Premier Protein pre-made shakes. I only like the chocolate ones. I get them through www.insurenutrition.com for free. They send a prescription to my doctor to sign and they fill it and my insurance company pays it! They do not charge me a co-pay or anything and it is shipped right to my house. My very favorite protein kick is a strawberry gladiator from smoothie king. I add strawberry and lemon or blueberry as my 2 fruits. Super low carbs - less than 10 grams I believe and very high protein - 40 grams! I have it for lunch about once a week. I wish I could afford to have it every day.

Doc says no fruit--EVER
twinhappy replied to Whynotnow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was allowed small amounts of fruit after 3 months. They said to treat it as a dessert and I was encouraged to eat soft skinned fruits (strawberries, blueberries, etc) as they had less sugar. Than being said I do eat half a small banana sometimes or about 1/4 of an apple sliced with some good cheese. I am 8 months post-op. Everything in moderation. The way I see it - God made fruit for us to eat! -

You look great! Congrats! -
I crave steak now sometimes. Feels good to eat meat that isn't friggin' chicken!! I tried it for the first time at 4 months with no problems. I ordered a ribeye cooked medium. Nice and tender. Of course I barely at any of it but my husband sure loved the leftovers for lunch the next day :-)

How do you handle eating socially post op?
twinhappy replied to nyjocool's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During the holidays you should just walk around with a Protein shake or concentrate on cleaning up and helping prepare foods rather than eating. You probably won't be able to eat anything they are eating because you will be less than a month out from surgery. Maybe sit down with a bowl of non-chunky soup? The best part is that you won't even miss the foods they are eating!! Your cravings will be gone and you won't even feel like eating at all. The sleeve is a blessing!! -
Why Did You Choose Your Specific Type of Weight Loss Surgery?
twinhappy replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I chose the sleeve because it was a permanent option vs the band. Also, I wasn't too happy about having a device inside of me and I wanted to lose more than 100 lbs. 8 months later I am 111 pounds down and still losing. Couldn't be happier!!! -
They sell them at Wal-mart and the Vitamin Shoppe so they are easy to find. I even found them at the gas station once! (referring to the power crunch bars)

Pinterest has tons of great ideas :-) Many days I will bake chicken or a pork roast and also roast fresh veggies. I just take some of that with me to work for lunch.
-
I am still giving out regular candy. I feel confident that I will be able to resist eating it and the neighborhood kids wouldn't be happy with me if I gave out raisins :-) Having candy and treats around is just a part of life. Thanks to my sleeve I don't feel the desire or urge to induldge!

OMG how in the hell do people drink this?!?
twinhappy replied to Sajijoma's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Syntrax is better. I can only drink the Isopure if I Water it down and then it still will take a couple days. -
I prefer power crunch bars. They have about 200 calories but you could do some walking in the airport or walk the escalator a few times to burn off some calories if you feel the need.
-
I don't like a lot of the Protein bars because they are so heavy. It gets old chewing on those darn things. One that i have found that I can tolerate is the PowerCrunch bars. They are light and pretty yummy as far as protein bars go. They have wafers in them - kind of like an old school nutty buddy does. The mint one is almost like eating a thin mint cookie. One bar of the chocolate mint has 205 calories, 10 grams of carbs, 13 grams of fat, 5 grams of sugar and 13 grams of protein. They are a great Meal Replacement when you are out and on the go.

Wondering if I'm doing something wrong
twinhappy replied to sonnysun's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
smooth move tea will clear you right out! It takes about 6-8 hours for me so I would suggest doing it in the late afternoon or when you can be at home until you are finished with the bm. -

Temporary = another surgery in the future to remove, replace or adjust. I am perfectly happy with my permanent sleeve! -

They gave me that too and it worked wonders! -

You can eat that stuff after two weeks? My doctor wouldn't have advised the pulled pork. Pretty much everything at that stage was liquid. As long as you are following your doctors food suggestions I guess it is okay. Stalls happen and they suck. Just hang in there and follows doctors orders! -
Hello - I am in the Johns Creek area and would love to have some sort of face to face support group every few months. I had my procedure done with True Results and they haven't had a support group meeting in about 4 months or so. Is anyone else interested?

Cookbook suggestions
twinhappy replied to LMolina1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use pinterest for recipes. I pin them to a recipe folder and after I try them I either keep them or delete them. They have tons and tons of good ideas out there!
