    Support Groups

I know there is one in Plainfield, but I don't think it's band specific. I go to my docs in Florham Park. Band specific groups are hard to find.

    Irritating Scale . . .

I have the same floor Hardwood, tongue and groove. I have a spot - has to do with where the groove is, where the sink is and where there is a particular shadow. :-) I think we should just both move our scales into rooms with laminated floors!! :wink2:
  3. I was banded last month. Those who are ahead of me - I was wondering when you all got your first fills. I've gotten conflicting answers from different people in the office. The insurance people said 90 days!! I have no restriction, and really do not want to wait!! Thanks, Eileen

    Who had Dr Abkin?

Dr Abkin did my surgery last month. One day of Clear Liquids before hand. The nurse-practitioner does the class. It's very informative. It does take the whole 3 hours. My class was full. Best wishes! Eileen

    U N D E R 3 0 0 L B S !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!! Welcome to twonderland! Eileen
  6. patty-jean - I had dry heaves for several days after my lap band last month. I figured out it was the percocet causing it. Once I switched to tylenol only, I was fine!
  7. I don't know if you went already, but -you DO NOT have to use Dr. Abkin's nutritionist and psych - you can use the ones at Morristown Memorial. He is fine with their reports. $159 for the psych and $165 for the nutritionist. Let me know if you need the phone number for Morristown. I'll find it for you. Dr Abkin did my band last month. Happy w/ him and his practice. Best wishes!

    Little confused

Have you had a lot of out of pocket expenses this year? Sometimes you will hit the out of pocket maximum, reducing what you have to pay. I hit mine this year, and so my surgery will probably wind up costing me 0! :) (I hope there's not something unexpected!)
  9. *eek* I feel for you. DH doesn't know. His guess was lower than it actually is. My goal in life is to at some point weigh less than my husband ever has. His high weight was 163. That's how much I weighed on our wedding day, 12 years ago! His normal is about 145-150. That's what I get for marrying a skinny guy. When we met he weighed 130! (He's 5'10" - his family is skinny like this.) Eileen
  10. I'm Eileen, from NJ, banded on 12/18. I'm on mushies now until my one month anniversary. I had 2 weeks of liquids (clear for 2 days, then full). I've lost 16 lbs since surgery. I had put on one lb from the liquid to mushie transition, but now the scale is moving in the right direction again. My wedding band is loose, and my 20s, which were really too small before, fit. I joined curves a month before surgery, and just started back today, at 3 weeks out. (I felt the port a bit on a few exercises. I was just really careful with those.) My goal is to go 4 times a week. Oh, I should mention, I have the realize band. I have 2 kids ages 2 1/2 and 8. They are great kids.

    NJ January 2008 Chat

Thanks all for the warm welcome in the other thread. Happy New Year! For who asked- my docs plan was 2 days Clear liquids, 2 weeks full liquids, then after 1st post-op appt (this Thursday for me) mushies. 2 weeks of mushies, and off you go. I cannot wait for mushies. I'm hungry! Troy- the easiest way to find out the deal about insurance is to talk to the insurance person at a local surgeon. Each company and plan has its quirks. With a BMI > 35 and sleep apnea, generally you will qualify. Unless your company's plan has an exclusion for weight loss surgery. You'd have to call your customer service for that info. I'm 2 weeks out. The first 2-3 days were tough. Improving since then! I've lost about 12% of what I have to lose in 2 weeks. Best wishes to all for a very happy new year. Eileen, I'm jealous of the touch! Eileen 2

    NJ December Thread

Hi Everyone, Is there room here for another Eileen? Rare that I run into someone else with my name. I was banded on 12/18. Doing ok so far. I'm on full liquids for another week or so. I started getting hungry a few days ago, which has made sticking to this more challenging. But I'm doing it. And it's nice to see the feedback on the scale. Although, my jeans still fit the same, which I wonder about. I'd think 13 lbs or so would make a difference. Maybe I was squeezing in to them more than I remember. Anyway, I'm the mother of 2, ages 8 and 2, in Somerset County. I am a casual knitter and stay at home mom. I enjoy reading (in my five free minutes a day ) I joined Curves a month ago, and am actually looking forward to when I'll be able to go back. Do you know of a lap band support group in Somerset County? My doc's office has one, but it's a good 30-40 minute drive. I look forward to getting to know you all! The Other Eileen
  14. Just an FYI - Vitalady.com offers samples of Protein powders at $2 each. I like the Sci Fit mochaccino delight.
