Surgery tomorrow (30/Mar/15
brmbrown replied to Magsqoti's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm glad to hear of all of your recoveries going so well, makes me feel better for my upcoming surgery on 4/23. Both myself and husband are doing it together. My husband was diagnosed as diabetic and has already dropped about 15 lbs since recently being Dx. I know we all have different experiences- but hearing your good reports makes me feel better as this will be my first ever surgery. Also, I have only scheduled off work for 4 days-- I have not informed anyone from work of what we're doing. My job is rather sedentary (administrative). I thought I could return on a Monday. Do you all think that's practical? -

My husband and me are April 23ers! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. First surgery! -
Time went fast

After the video, we talked with dietician, she gave us the binders which guided us with requirement from our insurer. They even scheduled next appt which occurred a few days later since our first appt was at the end of the mth.

How it works is the Drs office will verify pretty early on with your insurance information that it's (Bariatric surgery) is available under plan. If it is they can according to your carrier determine requirements. Once it is confirmed that your insurance covers provided requirements are met, they will continue to see you. Your initial consultation will be included as your first visit with dietician etc. My husband and I are together to be sleeved on 4/23. We recvd our surgery dates on our initial visit -- after they confirmed our eligibility-- while my hubby and I watched video to determine which procedure we were interested in.

Khaske, I'm reading your post late--how did you resolve this issue. And what recommendations were you given for future references?

8 Days to Go and Getting Anxious

I understand you're feeling.. My husband and I are doing it together, we did not want to share with anyone right now as we aren't interested in anyone's opinion. We have not shared with family, friends or work. It's not to say we won't, but right now we're holding off. -

Congrats Chianti, I'm excited too, just got the approval from my insurance.. My husband and I are going to embark upon this new lifestyle change together-- just awaiting his write up from psych visit before submission to insurance. Our surgeries will be 4/23/15. So happy! -

Waiting for surgery date...
brmbrown replied to vixie1013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Our Drs office gave us projected dates on our first visit (4/23). My husband and I are doing it together on same date. We have just finished our last visit with nutritionist/dietician. My husbands insurance covers surgery, which is not my primary insurance-- so I'm going through the waiting process with my insurance, who doesn't cover procedure, so we can submit to his insurer. Hopefully, everything will stay on track with that date. -
Good luck Essence! I know you'll be fine-- look forward to hearing about your experience.
-
Khaske1, so glad to hear that your surgery went well! Congratulations! Look forward to hearing your progress!
-
Khaske1, I pray all is well with you. I'm due to get sleeved on 4/23/15. I'm interested in hearing about how things are going. Congratulations you're on your way to a new You!

Thanks Sleeksleever, I've never had surgery either. Nicole's experience makes me nervous! I'm praying for you Nicole, hopefully soon your pain will subside.

Congrats Jason! You're doing great.. My husband and I are looking to do it together our date is 4/23/15. I've never had a surgery in all 41 yrs of my life. I'm a little nervous, but more excited right now. Can you share how your recovery was? Also, my job is unaware of my having surgery-- I was hoping to return to work within 4 days-- does that seem practical?

Hi, I'm due to be sleeved April 23rd.. I was only going to take off work 2 days and then the weekend. I thought I'd be able to return pretty rapidly, as I didn't want to share that I'd be having surgery for weight loss. I thought I could manage since my job is a desk job, however through reading... not sure.
