I'm staying on plan today because I'm close to onederland and meeting my goal for October 31st. -
I've had 4 fills and they always pull out what they can to make sure I don't have a leak. Ruth

I have lost 40 lbs. and gone from a size 22 to 16. Right off the bat I lost five inches from my waist. The area of concern is from the natural waist line and above to the breast bone, my abdomen. Its not shrinking with the rest of me. There is noticeable difference in my legs, hips, butt, etc but not in my abdomen area. I feel disproportionate. Has anyone else had this problem now or in the past? If so, what did you do or do I just need to be patient? I keep trying on these cute baby doll tops with new jeans and look pregnant so I keep wearing my oversized t-shirts. The problem with that is the t-shirts cover so well its hard to tell that I have lost weight. I've never been vain but I want to wear cute clothes and don't want to cover up my weightloss. Thanks, Ruth

Thanks everyone for your input.....no babydoll tops for me. Its good to know I'm not alone. I will have to do more upper body workouts and unfortunately I don't think I can eliminate my stress and I am stressed all the time these days. My abdomen has always been a problem it would make sense it would take longer to shrink with my weightloss. I get excited about getting new clothes and want to bad to get the cute stuff the younger crowd is wearing.....I guess I just need to dress for my age, lol. a few years back i had lost some weight and bought a pair of hip hugging bell bottom jeans online, don't laugh,....anyway besides being way too tight I really looked stupid in them. i threw them up in the closet and never gave them a second thought until a few weeks ago when i was pulling out clothes that were too big to get rid of and there they were. so i tried them on and they are big on me but not as big as the jeans i got rid of. it was small victory and they actually look pretty good on me. i know i cant be the only one that tries to dress younger just because i can now. anyone else make a clothing purchase like that since you have lost weight and then you had that "what the hell was i thinking" moment? share a funny story. Ruth

Your food plan of choice.

I chose other. I definitely watch my calories, I don't deny myself anything I'm hungry for unless I've had a bad experience with it. I stay under 1000 calories most days. I do make sure I get my Protein in daily. Not too much carbs because most of those things, bread, potatoes(my nemisis) don't set well with my band, but from what I understand I need some carbs for exercising purposes...I prefer whole wheat pastas. Somedays I can eat Pasta somedays I can't. Somedays I can eat more than others but for me, I still eat a lot better and a lot less than pre-banding. My band has definitely made me aware of what I eat in quantity and quality,....I used to eat a buffets a lot when I ate out....and haven't been to one since banding. Ruth -
That is sooooo cool! Its great that you have a boss that generous and caring. Shopping spree....yeah! Ruth

I bought 2 new pairs of jeans in the junior(plus) section. They seem to fit better than the womens plus sizes, snug but my butt looked gooooood! All of my jeans were falling off me, down from a size 22 to a 16. I was showing what i got to my 20 year old daughter. She said, OMG Mom, those wont even fit me..I was like, oh please, they will be hanging and so baggy on you. She tried them on and fit her perfectly and then she wanted to borrow them cause she looked so good in them! Says she is going to start raiding my closet now since I'm buying cool looking clothes. It felt sooooo good. I still don't see myself anywhere close to her size and still can believe it. She just had a baby a month ago and is already back down to her pre-pregnancy weight. After she thought about it, since she is still trying to lose a little more, she said " Oh its on now!!! I got to get moving before you pass me up!"....this was just the boost I needed. Ruth

Anyone wake up to find they had an "open" lapband surgery?
baby ruth replied to singledad167's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was fortunate enough to have my laproscopic. Open surgery was my biggest fear because I have already had that same insicion once when I had to have an emergency spleenectomy. I was scared that there would be too much scar tissue from that surgery to do it laproscopic. But I wanted this band so bad I was willing to endure it all over again. I feel your pain, the recovery is much longer and you are much more limited in what you can do after surgery. But hang in there, it will be worth it in the end. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Ruth -
Welcome to lbt. There is a lot of good info on this site. Good luck.

Congrats all you Feb. bandsters!!! I'm down 22lbs. since sugery. I had my first fill 3/10 and I am so ready for my second fill 4/21. Its been really hard to make myself get out of bed and go exercise on all these rainy days we've had lately. I feel like I'm eating too much, but I don't eat anything like I was pre-band. No seconds on anything and no sweets unless it comes in a hundred calorie pak and then only one. Confession time...one day I really wanted some chips and dip, the old me would have over done it, chowing down & watching tv, but the new me got 4 chips out of the bag, walked away and enjoyed them. NSV to me:smile:. Anyway, I guess I was hoping to be full on a few bites but I guess that will come in time. Its great to see where everyone else is on their journey. Keep up the good work VV's.

Sorry that you are going thru this. I have anxiety or panic attacks but mine come in the form of chest pain and trouble breathing. I take 5 mg of celexa in addition to my wellbutrin i take for depression. Also, my anxiety doesn't keep me awake or have my mind racing, my depression did that when the medicine I was taking just wasn't enough. I would think your pc would believe you especially if you can see the physical toll its taking on your body. Imo, if you don't feel like your pc would believe you or that your not getting your needs met, please find another pc. Feel free to pm me and I wish you all the best.

Glad your doing great and feeling good. But, take it easy. I learned the hard way...I felt good after my surgery and day 5 I really over did it. I was house cleaning, grocery shopping, sorting girl scout Cookies...just busy all day. I was never so glad to get home and laid down and take some pain med, it was like a truck ran over me, backed up and did it again, lol. Good luck on your journey:biggrin2:

Just wanted to update you. My surgery went smooth. I'm ready for that 1st fill. I lost 13lbs since surgery. Dr de la Torre did my surgery at the Un of Mo. I've been walking a couple of miles a day, drinking lots of Water and getting that Protein in. How are you doing Sharon67?

I sooooo hate to ask this but....
baby ruth replied to Susan3343's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That looks like my list also, but I live in town and close to the store so if i needed more, it was easy enough to get. Liquid Tylenol is a must have...I didn't find the need for the prescription pain relief. But there a lot of good suggestions on the list depending on your situation. -

Just wanted to let everyone know I'm out and doing well. No pain, doing lots of walking and staying hydrated. Everthing went smoothly and I feed really good considering. Thanks to all for you good thoughts. -
I am officially nervous. Tomorrow is the day, at the hospital at 7am and surgery at 9am. I'm pretty sure I won't sleep tonite. My biggest fear is waking up and not being banded. I had a hard time sleeping last nite also. Bad dreams all nite about not being banded and stuff like I outside looking in watching family functions..crazy , I know. It would help to hear from some off you on your nite before.
