  1. I loved this comment from someone who had gastric bypass surgery and has put alot of weight back on: "I would never have elective surgery, why you can't just stop eating? Why would you go to that extreme."

    Question for the ladies.

I want too just haven't reached my goal weight yet.

    1st soft meal ..?

Every Bariatric plan is different, but I think they all have some basic elements such as daily water intake and the amount of protein required daily. The food intake and choices would make my Dietition/Nutrionist very pleased!

Strange Info from NUT re: Carbs

I have never concerned myself with carbs, it is protein and sugar. My bariatric plan dictates that no food should contain more than 13 grams of sugar and protein should be 80-100 grams a day. Protein is to be eaten first, vegetables second.

    Coke Zero pre op diet

I am surprised at your dietician. The purpose of the pre-op diet and the meetings is to assist you in changing your food habits for life. Last week I saw my nutritionist and i mentioned how much I miss my Dr. Pepper. I was told carbonation can stretch your stomach, just as drinking liquids while eating does. My sleeve was 12/30/2014.

    Coworker outed me

It is unfortunate that people lack the ability to behave professionally in the work enviroment. You should be happy with the progress and feel sorry for someone who has no class as you are taking the high road. Don't dwell on it, pat yourself on the back, you are conquering a major obstacle in your life. FYI: It isn't a secret unless you are the only one who knows it!
  8. I know how you feel. The past few weeks have been quite a challenge for me. The two weeks leading up to my Mother's passing had me eating so wrong! It was all pizzas, casseroles and a few salads. Very easy to fall back into bad habits. I have lost 65lbs since my sleeve on 12/30/2014, I keep going up and down. My three month meeting with my nutritionist was last week. She said that contrary to what I think, I have done very well. My fear is that my stomach is stretching and I have made it worse by doing the number one and two no no; drinking too soon after eating and not eating protein first. When I mentioned doing a liquid diet for a few days to get back on track, she approved. So that is what I am doing, getting back to basics. I would love to hear if others are or have faced this challenge.
  9. WOOHOO! I am so happy for you!

    Any Regrets?

I am thrilled that I had the sleeve done. I haven't felt so good in a long, long time!
  11. I am thinking positive thoughts about you receiving good news soon.
  12. The process can be so frustrating!
  13. I have lost so much weight from my arms and legs. I wore a 16-18W bottoms and a 2X top, I am now down to a 10 bottom and L size top. I still have trouble with the bottoms sometimes because of the waist. All it takes is me not exercising for more than a few days for my stomach alarm to go off. The alarm is a tight waist fit. In order to be comfortable, I go to my size 12 bottoms. Having to do that is like a reminder of what I need to do. It works too! Walking works well for me along with weights when exercising. Remember, that if you are doing everything the way the Surgeon and Weight Support Staff are telling you, it will work show, we all lose weight differently, and as said before, the stomach can be stubborn.
  14. Thanks! I like is going from a 18W to a size 12 bottoms and a size 2X top to a size large!
  15. @@Biloxigirl, Hi! I am not getting caught up after several weeks being out of touch, it feels good to be seeing the positive posts! I am losing weight a bit slower, down 61 pounds since my sleeve Dec 30th. I have had to slow down exercising due to a couple of knee and shoulder issues, but am doing what I can get away with so it is all good!

    Does the sleeve stall out?

I was told at my five month post sleeve surgery that you basically lose most of the weight within the first year of Bariatr Sleeve Surgery. Whether it is true or not, this information was from a Bariatric Surgeon that is not my Surgeon. I look at my surgery as a tool to help in my weight loss. I believe that attitude, eating healthy, and exercising is the key to weight loss success. It took many years for me to learn that thought process and I am working for it to succeed.
  17. Sorry for the two posts, I wrote a shorter response after the I tried to hit post for the first one and the site froze.
  18. My BMI WAS 39. My insurance company, Aetna, was just plain slow and unresponsive. It took a conference call from my Doctor with the Medical Director to resolve the rejection I received. I wish I had known about this common delay sooner, it would have not been as stressful. Insurance companies have no real interest in the patient, just the cash flow so I think the ideology is take their time hoping some people will give up. In the end it all works out, so please don't let the process stress you out, just keep your eye on the finish line! Best wishes!
  19. I had a BMI under 40, but was approved after my Surgeon had a conference with Aetna. I agree with @@dknape, the stress involved with this process was terrible. I had completed the requirements required by Aetna only to find that my case was sitting on a desk of one of the Nurse's who makes the decision for several days. When I called inquiring about the delay, it was rejected within two minutes of my phone call. My Surgeon's office took over and 18 hours before surgery it was approved. I am telling you this so you don't stress too much, it will be fine. Good Luck!

    Doing the happy dance!

WooHoo! Not for a moment have I regretted my surgery. Positive thoughts coming your way!
  21. Hi all, Busy week, I finally have time to catch up on email and blog.@@Biloxigirl, I can only tolerate Syntax and Optimum Nutrition. Has anyone tried the Pro-thin Snacks?
  22. @@NewBeginning2015 and Biloxigirl, thank goodness it is not just me! You should see what I eat sometimes for breakfast! I have had chili, salad with grilled chicken, whatever I feel like eating that has protein. In order to insure that I am getting enough protein, I have been drinking New Whey Liquid Protein. It has 42 grams of protein, icomes in different favors and is only 4 ounces. I can tolerate the orange flavor, but only if I drink 1/3 at a time, I am hoping I get used to it's strange taste! I have had the Proti thin snacks, what brand have you been having?
  23. Happy to hear that all are doing so well, congratulations! I was just wondering, does anyone have a problem with not eating much at meals? I am eating six small meals rather than the three that the Dietitian suggested I practice. I am losing weight, 51 lbs so far.

    Saggy skin concern

Due to the length of my excess arm skin, I think they look more like a banner waving in the wind! Everyone say the best thing for sagging skin is exercise and hydrating. I read that the sagging is worse with people in their 50's and 60's. Despite the skin on my arms and legs, I do not regret ever having my surgery. I am so much healthier than before and feel wonderful.
