I have been overweight my whole life.  When my high school friends were trying on the "cute clothes', I was just hoping there was something in my size in the same department.  I have tried many diets, even succeeding in losing weight! But in 1999 I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis and put on an extreme dose of Prednisone for 6 months.  My pulmonologist promised me that any weight I gained would come off once I was done taking the Prednisone.  Two words, He lied. I gained 75 pounds on Prednisone and it never came off.  I dieted, exercised, took diet pills, prescriptions, nothing worked.  I was resigned to being heavy for the rest of my life.
 
The final straw came when we were out to dinner with friends one night and I couldn't fit in the booth.  I was so embarrassed that I said nothing, just squeezed in, sat there, and was uncomfortable.  I came home from dinner and started researching surgery.  I immediately was interested in the Lap-Band.  I do not want my insides re-routed or taken out.  Lucky for me, my insurance covers surgery.  I have completed the pre-surgical visits, have met with my surgeon, and have scheduled surgery.  I am excited to meet others that have gone through surgery and can help me meet my goal.
