Hi y'all! I am 5 weeks post op and been doing ok so far. I've had no complications and have lost about 25 lbs so far. Today i became very frustrated and felt heart broken. So... I was scheduled for essentially my first month post op appointment this week on the fourth. It's been tough on me the days i have to drive to My Dr's office because its 2hrs away, in the past i have had to always rush back to pick up my daughter from school because the Dr is only available after 10am. On top of that i am currently going through a custody battle in court in the city and will have to drive down on the 16th for that. I am also driving down the 20th to sign our new lease. (I'm moving back to the city) I been stressing a lot and been having a lot of anxiety. I thought it would be a good idea if I rescheduled my appointment until i move down there. The earliest available they had was the 30th. I asked the nurse if she could please ask my Dr if there were any new Vitamins i needed to take or change any of my diet mean time before my next appointment. Later she calls me back and says that the Dr. can't give me any information, i would have to come into the office. I may be to fucking sensitive but that really hurt my heart. This surgery has been tough on me, i am trying my best to motivate myself to keep loosing weight, and my Dr can't just make some recommendations for me till i see him. I feel like he really doesn't care about me. It makes me want to change Dr. What are your thoughts?

Hi Everyone, I am having my Surgery Oct 27th. I live in California and will be traveling to Washington DC to visit my in-laws on Nov 13. I was wondering if i could please get some feed back on people who had the surgery. My question is.. How did you feel 2 weeks post op? Energy? Pain? Were you able to go out and walk ? Any feedback helps. Thank you!

Awwww.. Thank you... Yea i been hearing different things. I ended up calling my surgeons office this morning. They said i should be okay. I might just experience a little fatigue. They said a lot of people fly after surgery. Walking was recommended every hour. I think I'm going to play it by ear.. And maybe wait to decide if I'll go on that trip.

I had my surgery in Feb. I was supposed to have it in Jan but as soon as my surgeon learned of my planned trip to visit the inlaws 2 weeks after surgery he cancelled my surgery. He made it very clear I could visit my inlaws before my surgery or I could wait a month postop. Complications were a concern. However, he was concerned a family member might push me to eat regular food too soon and set back my recovery. Being the holiday season is almost upon us. I would say your surgeon would have similar concerns about traveling, especially flying. My trip was within the same stateWow! Well maybe i will give them a call. See what they think. Thank you for sharing your experience with me.

Thank you for the fed back. I had some concerns about blood clots and sitting for so long too. I remember the surgeon mentioning that in a seminar. Good thing is that we would be doing a lot of walking in DC. This may be good or bad. I will be asking my surgeon too. Thank you again for your responses. Much appreciate it.

We have all heard it! WLS is a tool. It's a very intimate choice and we have the right to share with people we trust. Sharing information with someone doesn't give them permission to go and share it with others. What she did was rude, and disrespectful! I would of pulled her aside and set her straight about what she did in a very professional way. She obviously has no sense of respect for others. If you spoke to her and she got mad, is a darn straight out sign that she is immature! A right minded and good hearted person would be extremely apologetic and embarrassed. Don't let people like her ruin the best choice you made for yourself. Good for you for standing up for yourself! Keep doing it! We are here for you!

Anyone in San Diego, California?
NinaB replied to NinaB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey! Did you have your surgery? I been thinking about you since you told me. Guess what? I changed surgeons and now with Pacific Batriatic. I met with Dr. Tanaka.. Seems like a very sweet and knowledgeable man. His staff is pretty helpful too. I met with the Internist. He cleared me for surgery. Now i am waiting for a staff member to call me to schedule the surgery at Mercy. I am excited and nervous. How did it go? Any advice you can give me for after the surgery? I'm trying to organize myself to figure out what i need to buy for Post Op.. So I won't have to go out. Any advice will help. I hope you are recovering smoothly. Prayers and hugs. -
Still Confused. WHO am I supposed to be seeing? Federal BCBS
NinaB replied to fluffytofit's topic in Insurance & Financing
I am also FED BCBS.. Pick a surgeon. Usually you do the supervised diet with them. -
Anyone in San Diego, California?
NinaB replied to NinaB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! Here i am complaining about having to do a 6 month supervised diet and their are others out there doing more work than i am being asked. The complaint comes from years of obesity and yo-yo dieting. As i am sure many can relate. Every WLS program is different, especially due to all different Health Insurance Companies but, we are all in it for the same result. The opportunity for a second chance in living a healthy life. I don't know you but, i am beyond happy and excited for you. I bet you have worked hard to get to this point. Congratulations again on your surgery! I can understand that you might be nervous about the surgery. Have faith that everything will be great. Most nurses are great at walking you through the process. Again! So happy for you! You definitely sound ready. I can feel your energy from just reading your replies. I been over weight since i can remember. I've heard of WLS for a while but could never afford it and was never eligible under my previous Health Insurance. I can honestly say i am glad it didn't happen till now. I also feel I could not be more ready than i am now. I too have researched, and studied ways to be a healthier person. I am so grateful for everything I've learned thats going to help me stay focused and on a healthy track after surgery. I share the same feelings as you. Nervous excited! Grateful and anxious for the changes that are coming. -

Really? Awesome!!!! Congratulations. Are you working through a program through Scrips? I am waiting for Insurance Approval and my Surgery Date. I will be having mine at Alvarado Hospital. How are you feeling? Did you have to do a 6 month supervised diet? Are you on an all liquid diet before surgery?
