Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the pounds will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!
(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

Congratulations! I also had surgery on the 17th and was thrilled at my post-op appointment today to see I'm down 22 pounds since surgery. Even better, I can stop my blood pressure medication.
Here's to many more victories for us!!

Only if my sip is too big do I get the hiccups. Try a little less-I know you are thinking how my sips are already small-but they need to be smaller ????.
I am now 12 days post op and my sip is a little bigger than on day 5 post op so just give it a little time.
    Good luck!

Today marks two weeks. The good: down 9.5 pounds, no issues with BM, taking all Vitamins, meeting liquid goals, feel good, pants fitting better, getting more energy and yesterday I ate lunch out with my hubby (panera we shared a pic two-I had 1/2 of the creamy Tomato Soup (no croutons) and he had the rest). The bad: getting bored with yogurt and I just can't tolerate "sugar free" anything, not meeting Protein goal every day and I miss eating out.
I am a band to BP so I know my weight loss will be slower than others so I am okay with where I am. Every Monday I take pics of myself in my undies (for me and no one else to see) and I am starting to see a difference. I am looking forward to my next "stage" and visit with my NUT on Thursday.
Here's to hoping everyone has a terrific Tuesday.

Not sure what stage you are on but I am two days behind you and just moved to soft foods. Salmon, tuna, omelette, black bean Soup, crab meat..a few of the things I have had of will have tomorrow. These are foods I enjoyed before. However my " Normal" would have been very large servings with buttered down potatoes, bread and tons of whatever carb I could get. I am electing to not indulge in carbs such as potatoes even though it is allowed.
Perhaps you need to be a bit more creative with cooking or just simply patient until you get to the next phase. Hang in there.

I had regrets. Even now when I want to eat something I can't. I was surprised. It wasn't magic cure. I still want Bagels.
I had a tough time recovering, had to go back into the hospital and go through another surgery because I developed 2 abcesses. Never have I been so sick. I regretted it.
When I could only sip liquids, and it hurt, I regretted it.
The first lunch meeting at work, I regretted it.
The first time someone offered me a donut.... And I took it... And took a bite.... I regretted it.
This is a tough thing to go through. Maybe the toughest for some. It will get better. It will.
When My16 month old grand son was just out of my reach... And only steps from the road... I called to him to come here, but he turned with a smile and started to take off towards said road... I leaped to him and grabbed him before he took another step. I could not have moved that fast before. I DID NOT regret it.
60 lbs down. I no longer regret it.
Blood sugar stable and off diabetes Meds, I do not regret it.
Time. It takes time. But I was told that too. I had no patience. You will get there.

Whoa! Reading these stories certainly takes me back to a time when all I did was regret my actions and cry. I remember a friend who had a previous procedure telling me that it will get better I was in such a depressed state I didn't believe her. But believe me it does and boredom is like our worst enemy. I am three months out and down 73 pounds. As the weight comes off you'll feel better and then you'll do more. But as for right now just focus on your liquids your Vitamins Protein and rest. When I think back to my first week I was so depressed being three months out seemed so far away. Now I'm heading towards month four. Time truly does travel fast and I am blessed. I work out and I go to work but I feel so much better. My only concern is that you eventually I stop hating food because now eating is such a chore and I hate it. But please know that you certainly are not alone and that we have all been in your shoes and that this too shall pass

I had surgery March 17. I'm home till April 27th but I am ready to go back to work. I'm at home with my 83 yr old father and feel like a short hand cook! I'm cooking every meal and not able to eat any if it. While he's eating an omelette I am having a Protein Shake, while he is eating lunch I am on Jello dinner forget it another shake for me. Then to add misery I've been watching the food network everyday!

Hi all. I am a 38 yo woman. I am 5'6" HW398, SW 358, CW 202. I think being a size 10 (with my skin roll) is 100% success. My surgeon on the other hand does not. She won't let me have skin removal surgery till I am <200. <200 not 202 not 201, 199 or lower. I set a personal goal of a pant size not a weight because I didn't want to fail myself and I am past it. I wanted to be a 13 yet here I am in a size med waist cincher and 10 jeans that fall off my waist and hug my pelvic bone due to skin. Grrrr

I have 71 lbs total to lose and I've lost 55 so to date. So far, the skin seems to be tightening as I loose weight and exercise. The only problem area is my upper arms, but even that skin appears to be getting firmer as my muscle increases.
But, I know people in my support group who have had to do skin removal. But these were people who have lost close to 200 lbs. I also know my NUT told me that younger people have more elasticity in their skin and therefore the skin will tighten up better.

Yesterday I weighed in a 185.2, which puts my BMI at 29.9. So I am now officially only "overweight". Woohoo! Even though it's only been 2 months and 12 pounds since my last set of progress pics, I had my husband go ahead and take new ones for this major milestone. You can see all of my pics in my gallery, but here are a couple showing my 54 pound loss since the pre-op photos were taken:

I really, really appreciate the support of this sight. But, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, clarify before you jump all over someone! Words (especially the written word) can be misconstrued. I posted recently about a 4 week depression and doubting my decision. I mentioned eating a kids meal (portion!) and suddenly I am hanging out at McDonalds! Seriously?? I had a kids meal at Red Robin. It consisted of grilled chicken skewers with no sauce, and steamed/undressed broccoli (which I highly recommend if you are looking for a fun place to go with small/healthy options.) The drink was a diet lemonade, which I drank much later on the drive home. A perfectly health, reasonable choice. I was depressed because I was only able to eat about a third of it! Other restaurants have kids meals! Albeit, most consist of mac 'n cheese and hotdogs, but not all restaurants. I am trying very hard to go places with my family and not screwing up. These comments, however well meaning their intent, have really upset me, and I am seriously thinking of "checking out" of this site.

My surgery date is March 23rd. My surgeon requires a two week pre-op diet which consists of four Protein Drinks daily and only Clear Liquids. Well I have three days till I start and let me just say I am eating anything and everything I can. I'm so excited for this life changing surgery and I'm scared. I know I will be able to eat things I want in moderation again someday. I just feel like this is the time to eat whatever guilt free! Anyone else experiencing this "last supper syndrome" ?
