I'm one of those people who weigh daily. It's a hard habit to break and you like to see results and daily results make you feel GREAT. Only advice I have is to weigh yourself straight away in the morning after you empty your bladder to get the most accurate!
But I would recommend weekly. After my two week appointment I am going to try my best to weigh only weekly! (I had surgery Monday)

    I weigh once weekly.
I never understood the daily weighers, everyone knows weight can fluctuate day to day, yet drive themselves crazy weighing and worrying about those same factors that can make the weight fluctuate.

Good morning! My surgery date was 1-12-2015. I eat around 550-750 calories a day. I make a point to try and eat every 3 hours. My pouch is picky, so there are a few staples that I have. I usually make a batch of chili or buffalo chicken in the crock pot. Then I portion it into 1.5 oz containers and freeze it. The buffalo chicken I usually it with a small salad. I also eat the Morningstar farms spicy bean burgers. I can't say that I love them, but I can tolerate it. I can't eat a full bean burger. I can do about 3/4. Sadly, I am still supplementing most of my Protein with shakes. Here's a sample menu of what my day looks like:
7 am: lite and fit vanilla yogurt flavored with sugar free raspberry Syrup
10 am: 100 calorie bag of roasted edamane (from sprouts)
    12:30 buffalo chicken with salad
    1:30 1/2 bottle of Protein h2o Water
    3:00 premier Protein shake
5:30 veggie burger patty with slice of cheese on it
8:00 100 calorie popcorn (bad habit I need to stop) or 1/2 peeled apple
I have asked my nutritionist about how many calories I should be consuming and she tells me not to worry about that. She wants me to focus on getting 60-70 grams of protein daily.
I hope I was able to help you. Good luck on your journey!

Congrats on your surgery!!! Sounds like we could be twins!! I'm 26, never had any major surgeries, or comorbidities either. My pain all comes from my back and joints too haha have you noticed any of you joint and back pain subsiding? It may be too early to tell I suppose. That's what I'm looking forward to though.

I lost 22 pounds pre-op, and then gained 12 of them back with the IV fluids in the hospital. It took me two weeks to lose that and then I hit the dreaded third week stall.
It was not until the second month that I really started to lose weight, about he time some people have lost sixty pounds already.
I am only hoping that the slower weight loss will help me to not be so baggy when I reach goal. I am doing my part with exercise, strength training and ab work.

A month long stall? Is that possible? I've done so well and have kept all my habits the same. I am 5 months out. Started at 289 and am now 211 at 5'4. I want to get to 150 and will not give up. I am meeting my Protein and liquid requirements. Maybe it's time to up the work outs? Up until today I was optimistic think this stall has to end soon, just to end my day in tears thinking I've failed and this is as good as it gets for me. So close to Onederland. Haven't been there since high school and I feel like maybe I just really won't get there. Last month was only a 6 pd loss and nothing this month. How could I not end my day in tears..

Photos for me really remind me of how far I have really come in the last year.

Tamika reacted to Mid West in The Slow Losers Thread
Hi guys. There are a few threads on here where people are talking about how slowly they think they're losing, compared to others. Of course, we're all different, we all start at different weights and we all do some things differently (calorie intake, exercise etc).
And I don't mean to start this thread so we can compare ourselves to others, that's not the point. But rather, this could be a thread where we can keep encouraging each other and people who are worried they're not losing as fast can see and be reassured they're not alone :-)
I think it's so interesting that our nuts/docs aren't worried and tell us how they've heard it all before and it will happen etc. It's reassuring but also kind of weird - what do they know that we don't? Lol.
I know that if I continue to lose at 1 lb a week, I'll be where I want to be this time next year. I can handle that, especially as I don't feel deprived and I don't feel like I'm dieting.
If you are losing slowly, please know that you're not the only one and please post your feelings :-) Lx

Good afternoon Chammie, that is normal actually... i went through a tough time at 1st with Protein and Water intake. I sipped alot of broth and ate alot of popsicles and Jello. I drank the chocolate Premier Protein shakes [2pr day, which is 60g of protein ] I followed my dr instructions to the letter,no cheating and the weight literally melted away. [i didn't start eating foods until 12 wks in actually] You should be able to start walking a treadmill next week...this will help.

Thank you for your responses. Looks just like everything else gastric bypass rules related...we all get instructed something a little different. If anyone runs across articles that state why we should wait 60 minutes after eating I'd be interested in reading them. Thanks again!

So when I received my surgery date (4/15/15), I set my first goal at 50 lbs by my birthday. I've been working hard. Today is my birthday and .......... I hit exactly 50 lbs today!! I am so excited. The first 40 was easy, but with a week and a half stall, I was scared I wouldn't make it. My next goal is 30 lbs by August for my class reunion.

You clearly know what you need to do to get things moving in the right direction. You are the only one who can make it happen so get on it.
not to be mean but you knew what you were signing up for. Why would you self sabotage so early in the process? You know exactly why you are not losing more rapidly or maybe not at all in the last couple of weeks.
You may not be suffering any complications right now but give it a few weeks more of not enough Protein and too much sugar. You have to have enough Protein for the rest of your life or you will actually become malnourished. You will not heal, your hair will fall out and you will get sick.
By the way, you crave what you eat. If you were eating good Proteins and good carbs your body would want that type of food. Because you are eating too many carbs, your body will crave it and it becomes a vicious circle.
The first thing I would do is get the crap food out of my house. Then I would go back to the liquid Protein for a few days, then start the soft Proteins and good carbs like vegetables and some fruit.< /p>
Only you can make this happen. The reason the rest of us are doing better is because for the most part we followed the rules.
You can do this but you have to take the right steps. If you do that, the weight will come off faster and you will get healthy.
Sorry if my words seem harsh but your post seemed as if you needed a kick in the behind to get going.
It's time for you to make some serious changes to your habits if you really want to be successful.
    Good luck!

Tamika reacted to jules44 in 7 weeks postop and not losing very much.
I'm 7 weeks out. My surgery was March 25th. I've lost 23 pounds so far. Those pounds came off in the first 3-4 weeks. I thought it would be so much more by now but hey atleast its 23 pounds lost and not gained. I've had zero complications so far. No nausea/vomiting. No dumping syndrome (unfortunately, I find it easy to eat sweets). I'm struggling with everything they've told me to do. I find it nearly impossible to take 30 minutes to eat a very small amount of food. I've tried to slow it down but its impossible to even enjoy at that slow of a pace. It's really just not that much food. I'm getting my liquids in. Probably not as much Protein as I should. I'm going to go back to focusing on my shakes. It's just really easy to ignore them and eat food instead. I'm not losing weight because I'm probably eating too many calories and not exercising. So if I don't lose more weight I'm the only one to blame. I'm worried I'll be the only GB patient that never loses more than 25 pounds. I've always struggled with food and that hasn't changed since surgery. It's still my problem but now I'm just limited to small quantities. I thought that would be my salvation. It's looking like its not doing the job. I'm going to have to step up to the plate and seriously work with my new tool to get these pounds off. I didn't think I would be so discouraged at week 7. How is it that so many people appear to be doing this program so well when we all have similar problems with food before surgery. It looks like everyone's food issues have disappeared but mine. I don't think there's an amount of therapy sessions that would ever do me any good. Any advice for a nonloser?

Hi @@pingram11 Yes I had rny done on March 26th and beside the one time I forgot and gulped Water I've felt nothing from my new guts! I've tried a few things I shouldn't have (including a crouton and bite of pizza) and have had no ill effects, I've been able to eat 1/2 cup of food at a time. I was really looking forward to the added tool of dumping syndrome to regulate what and how much I ate, but with the way things are going I don't think I'll be experiencing that It's a catch 22 I suppose!

I've been finding the head hunger the hardest part of post op recovery. I am two weeks out and nothing I have eaten yet had given me any trouble, but it's also given me a false sense of security. Last night my head hunger was maddening so I had 2 tbsp of Cheerios in milk. It was so good, I wanted so badly to gorge myself on a regular bowl like I use to.
And don't get me started on the temptress that is shwarmas....

I am completely stoked as I haven't worn a size 14 in over 10yrs!!! I'm so excited to be so close to under 200lbs. Life is GREAT!!!! :-D
