  1. My classes end May 19th. I'm hoping to be able to do the surgery at the begin in of July. I'm a dental assistant, so my job is very hard on the body. My plan is to take a month off.
  2. Wow that's amazing!!!! Great job. I right now look very similar to you your before. Very encouraging be im glad you made the mistake and posted it here.
  3. Hi All, Tomorrow will officially start my pre op journey. 12 weeks of classes through Kaiser's Options Program. I'm way more nervous then excited. Honestly, I'm not even 100% sure I want to have the surgery!!! I thought this is what i wanted until I went to the orientation class last Friday. Now all the info given at the class I already knew, but I once again started thinking Why am I not doing this myself. I know I could lose the 100lbs that I need to. I guess the fear of relapsing keeps me at my current weight. There is nothing more embarrassing then entering a room of friends & family who haven't seen you in a long time when you have gained a significant amount of weight. Not that I couldn't relapse from having the VSG. My brain is swirling. All I know is that I'm going to attend these 12 weeks of classes & in the end I'll make a decision either way. Afterword I'll have gained more knowledge & insight into who I really am!!!!! Anyone else question is they should do the surgery?
  4. I used to workout at Curves. It is a really great workout!! Like the others have said you may want to add in more weight training to retain your muscle mass.
  5. Agree 100%. My emotions are all over the place. For a lot of us we are the weight we are because we have eaten our feelings/emotions instead of talking about them. Now that we are being asked over and over to talk about why/how we got to this point is so tough. I took my first class last Tuesday & during the introductions I cried. I was telling them how excited I had been for all of this until I walked in the door & it was like a huge slap in the face!!!
  6. My insurance requires 12 weeks of classes, so I'll be done on May 19th, but I plan to hold off until either the end of June or beginning of July for surgery(that is if I still decide to do it!). Waiting for me has to do with work. July is a slower month for me. I was very impatient until I started classes last week. Now I'm very excited to learn all of the medical info that they have to give.
  7. Gaining during the 12 weeks of classes I have to do is one of my biggest fears. Kaiser wants us to lose 10% by the end of the 12 weeks. For me hat is 27.2 pounds. Eekkk!!
  8. I would choose the sleeve. I have 4 friends who got the Band & all but one has had it removed. Too many complications!! Lots of time in the hospital after fills were done. 2 of the 3 that had it removed went on to then have the sleeve procedure done. I'm sure you will make the best decision for you. Best of luck!!

  10. Kaiser has a few courses. First you have to go to the orientation which is 1.5 hrs. Then the 12 week options program which are 1.5 hr classes also. They do offer other weight loss related classes, but those don't involve the surgery aspect.
  11. Gosh you are so true!!!! I have some of the same fears. All the What Ifs?!! The one thing I know for sure is that I'm going through with the 12 weeks. Gaining more knowledge is never a bad thing. Hopefully by the end I'll be ready to make that final decision. Thank You so much for sharing your story with me. Also are you in Nocal or SoCal going to meetings?
  12. Thank you so much for all of your wisdom!!! It is so amazing to have support from those who don't know me at all. Glad to hear that you no longer suffer from these horrible things. Thanks again!!
  13. Thank you for your response. Yes I'm glad that Kaiser's program is 12 weeks long. Hard to believe that some people skip all the classes & head to Mexico to have the procedure done. Sounds like you are having fantastic results!! Congrats & keep it up.
  14. Thank You so much for your response. Sometimes I feel crazy for questioning it, but life changing procedures should require lots of attention.
