Hi!! I live in Statesville, not too far from you. I was banded on 3/27/08, by Dr. Bauman in Concord. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask... Good Luck on your WLS -
I had to be there at 5:30am and I was home in Statesville @ about 2:00pm. Its best not to worry, because you will not get any sleep. I worried about my family, and what if something went wrong, but I remember getting prepped, and the next thing I remember was waking up. Be sure to wear loose comfortable clothing, you will be swollen. Also, make sure you have gas-ex strips, heating pad, and keep it moving as much as possible.... Dr. Bauman and his office are so nice!!!!!

Oh yeah!! Good luck with your surgery'

Hi Jonsmom I am a Dr. Bauman patient, I had my surgery on 3/27 and I am down 28 pounds. I also went with the AP band as well, the surgery was a piece of cake. The only problem I had was gas(chest) and left shoulder pain. If you have any questions, let me know Avis

I had surgery 3 days ago, I am still a little sore and gassy. My main problem is I am having left shoulder pain, I've tried heat, ice, and rubs but it is still hurting. Has anyone experienced this and if so what can I do to help it???

Hello...Newbie From NC!

Hi Fotogirl.... He really does not have you on a strict diet per say.... The Nut will give you a sheet that has things to eat, things not to eat(fried foods, sodas, etc.) and they tell you about the shakes. I am currently drinking the Slim Fast Low Carb (the other Slim Fast has more sugar) and watching what i eat. YOU CAN NOT:cursing: GAIN ANY WEIGHT OR HE MAY RESCHEDULE YOUR SURGERY and drink water(Crystal Light). Ps. If you go with the Slim Fast Low Carb, the cheapest place to but is at Sams! Once you get all the things checked off, you will get a date soon. Also, a good website is Obesity Help, a lot of Dr Baumans' are on the forum. My name on that forum is Daybreak 7--that have a NC only forum.... Let me know if you have other questions, I am a Newbie also, but I will share my little bit of knowledge... -

Hi N.... I am also getting banded on 3/27---so we can be BAND BUDDIES. Are you on any pre-op diets? And will you be on a 2week post op liquid diet, if so do you have any suggestions???? Good Luck -
Hi Smiley!!! I don't have BCBS state, but I do have BCBS of NC (Blue Options), and I was approved in 4 days. My policy I had to have a BMI over 40 for 5 cons. years documented with medical records, or I think that you can have a lower BMI with co-morb. for 4 of the last 5 years. I am really not sure, but you can call the insurance and they will tell you the guidelines for your specific policy. Also, my surgeon is a CENTER OF EXCELLANCE, and I think that they have a easier time getting it approved..... I hope I helped, but call your insurance they are really helpful.... 3/27/08--BAND DAY
