GERD is Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease a good explanation taken from webmd http://www.webmd.com/heartburn-gerd/guide/reflux-disease-gerd-1 Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the ring of muscle between the esophagus and stomach. Many people, including pregnant women, suffer from heartburn or acid indigestion caused by GERD. Doctors believe that some people suffer from GERD due to a condition called hiatal hernia. In most cases, heartburn can be relieved through diet and lifestyle changes; however, some people may require medication or surgery. What Is Gastroesophageal Reflux? Gastroesophageal refers to the stomach and esophagus. Reflux means to flow back or return. Therefore, gastroesophageal reflux is the return of the stomach's contents back up into the esophagus. In normal digestion, the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) opens to allow food to pass into the stomach and closes to prevent food and acidic stomach juices from flowing back into the esophagus. Gastroesophageal reflux occurs when the LES is weak or relaxes inappropriately, allowing the stomach's contents to flow up into the esophagus.

Hi all, i was banded in 2010 and in aug 2014 it was removed as the band failed.. In oct 2014 i was revised to sleeve and its the best decision I've made in my life. I have GERD since being sleeved however, i haven't had a bout of reflux for about a month now. So i believe its well and truly under control ????. I started off at 383lbs, I'm currently at 235 lbs and still losing. I can eat almost anything i want just really small amounts . I do have a problem with eating anything with corn and any leafy greens.. Thats about it! Wishing you every success with your Journey.

Sending you and your wife prayers. May the lord bless you both and keep his watchful eyes in you during these dark days. My mother got her 5 year clearance of breast cancer 3 months ago, just a little over a week ago she was back in the hospital as she was not feeling well, her abdomen was distended. After all tests were done we were advised she has metastatic breast cancer and its spread to her liver and stomach. I completely understand what you are going through. We just have no answers as to how they cleared her of the cancer 3 months ago and all of a sudden it is back with a vengeance! All we can do is pray that she gets well enough to be able to be moved to a specialist cancer hospital to start treatment that the type of cancer she has is receptive to and possibly end up extending her life a little bit longer.

VSGmary replied to lisaluvsgreys's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi i was banded in 2010 and I lost 88 lbs but gained most of it back as the band failed and it was finally removed in Aug 2014. In Oct 2014 i was revised to vertical sleeve gastrectomy and i have lost 148 lbs and i still have a fair bit to go but best thing is, weight is coming off! VSG has been the best thing i have ever done for my health and wellbeing. Best wishes to you on your journey. -

I eat one Cookies and cream Quest bar every day to help me reach my Protein goals per day. As another poster has said they are quite low in net carbs due to the high fibre (it helps me keep regular). Cookies and cream is my favourite! I have tried cookie dough - found that just way too sweet, apple pie - this is my 2nd favourite, white chocolate and raspberry - this one is nice and i have tried coconut and cashew - I'm not a fan of this one.

Info taken from fitbit website: "While Fitbit devices are Water resistant, it’s not good to keep a wet band on your skin for long periods of time. If your band gets wet—like after sweating or showering—rinse and dry it thoroughly before putting it back on your wrist. Be sure your skin is dry before you put your band back on."

Mine did not and I'm 9 months out
