Hi all, anyone else here having problems joining challenges since the latest update? I was in 3 challenges and therefore i had 2 more i could join however i keep getting an alert stating that i cant join more than 5 at any one time and then it doesn't allow me to join. There is a thread open over at the fitbit forums about this issue and the developers are looking into this.

    Any Oct 2014 sleevers?

Hi all, i had my revision band to sleeve surgery 13th oct 2014. I have lost 150lbs (yes a whole person) as of last week however i have a fair way to go. I am happy with what i have achieved to date. I walk almost 14 klm (8.7 miles) a day 5 days a week! I wont ever be able to run as i developed OA on both knees prior to wls surgery. Im alive, and enjoying life ????. When i get a bit more confidence ill post before and after pictures. Best wishes to you all xox

    409 to 148!

Thank you very much for sharing your story. I am almost 12 months out and have lost as of last week 150lbs, however i still have more to lose. Reading your story has given me a little extra boost, the little bit if motivation to keep on keeping on! Those of us who have a lot of weight to lose tend to get a little de-motivated when we see so many people have surgery and reach their target within a few months ( i am very happy for them) its just a constant reminder to me that i have a long way to go still lol /frustrating!
  5. Wow firstly thank you for sharing your pictures. Your initial photo had me really scared for you as it does look really painful, however your progress is just simply amazing. You look fantastic!
  6. I was told no to all three, and i dont miss any of them as there is always another alternative available. I use a lot of quinoa as a replacement for rice and its really good source of protein and fibre amongst other benefits! I have tried eating bread and pasta, they both make me feel quite unwell so i just say no to them. No big deal really.

I'm 6 months out of my bypass, and I lost 75lbs, now finally have energy to work out, but after couple days I'm getting very tired and sore, should I slow down or push it? I personally wouldn't push it. Take it easy as its not a race as to who gets to the finish line first. Give yourself realistic goals that will stretch you but not to the point where you are in pain. Every other day or even other week, move that target a little further. Just go at a pace where its comfortable for you.

@@smiranda in the application there is a "star" on the bottom of the app next to the Dashboard button. That is where all the Challenges are. If one has been sent out to you amongst a number of people, you just select it and then accept the challenge, please bare in mind that if more than 10 people have been invited to that same challenge, only the first 10 that accept the challenge will actually be eligible to join that specific challenge, so in essence you have got to be quick to join in as everyone is very keen . please note that there is nothing stopping you from starting up a challenge yourself and then inviting your friends that way you will always get in

Added you both to my list of friends ???? . Please note that for all fitbit users, challenges are limited to first 10 people who accept and we are limited to taking up 5 challenges at any one time. Don't be afraid to take up a challenge or create one as every level of fitness is generally invited from what I've seen from my list of friends. We are here to motivate and help one another ????. Please do not be afraid to ask for advice if you need it as some if us are beginners, some if us are well advanced into the fitness regime a d more than willing to help where we can ???? as you can message one another through the application itself ????
  10. You all look simply amazing!! Congratulations ????

How Do You Set Your Goals?

Whilst i have a weight goal that i know i will be comfortable with, its a long term one which is always at the back of my mind. I also have had lots of short term goals with regards to the distance i can walk, initially it was to get to a bridge which was 100 meters away (no that far on retrospect however this was far for me at the time as i couldn't walk without having to stop as i was completely exhausted!). I have built up the distance to now being able to walk 6-7 klm straight and i now do that twice a day! The power of the mind with a tonne of determination (to never let myself go backwards) is amazing.

  16. Hi @@fairgge, my recovery was 5 weeks. I could not drive for the first week along with lifting anything heavier than a couple if kilos. I was under strict orders to not try lifting things - this was the most annoying part of the recovery as i live alone and i had to wait for my beautiful mum to come over to help me. With regards to diet, i had no problems eating normal foods, however at that stage of my weight loss journey i wasn't eating much as it was anyway. I was advised to stay away from fried foods which i did. Wish you all the best with yours!
  17. hi BarrySue, i can only advise of my own experience. I had my gallbladder taken out 3 months after i had my sleeve done. I felt extreme nausea and pain under my right breast. When i was in ER the doctor did a quick check on me by quickly jabbing me under my breast, that just sent me through the roof, he knew then and there that it was my gallbladder and sent me in for an ultra sound which confirmed it all. 2 days later i was on the operating table having it removed.

Hi fitbit buddies, i apologise for not joining up to challenges this week as my beautiful mother sadly passed away over the weekend. I will be back with a vengeance next week. This i promise! I just don't have the luxury of time for me this week i am busy organising her funeral. Good luck to you all for this week *hugs*

    Low carb Zuccini tortillas

Oh my!!! These, look delicious!! I was quite devastated that i could no longer eat corn or anything made with corn - tacos being one of them! This is not that i dont want to eat corn etc its just that my body just rejects it ???? since being sleeved. This recipe is a fantastic alternative! Thank you so much for sharing ????

    "Oh I've only lost..."

I find myself saying this all the time. Its like I'm just not happy with what i have achieved so far and i know i should be celebrating every single pound lost! I think part of it is attributed to me not yet reaching my goal. At times i feel a little defeated that i have a long way still to go. Ive lost 147lbs and i have a further 70lbs till i reach my goal. I really should be celebrating but i seem to find excuses and remain unhappy with what i have achieved. Its taken me 10 months and don't get me wrong, i have days i feel fantastic and i dont even think about my weight but there are also days where i find myself beating myself up for not having lost more and the more i lose the harder it is to get the next pound off! Im slowly learning to love the new me and learning to accept all that comes with that whilst trying to forgive and learn from the mistakes the old me did. Its a process and all i can do is take it one day at a time. Best wishes to you all on your journeys.

    Omeprazole?

I was given this to help with stomach acid. I developed GERD and was taking 20mg a day. I have not had to take omeprazole for the last 30 days so i think my GERD is well and truly under control, however i do carry it around with me should i have a reflux attack. I had my operation 10 months ago.
  23. When i started my BMI was 59.5 i was not 450 lbs however i was 383lbs, this was back in oct 2014 - 10 months ago. I currently weigh 236 lbs and my BMI is at 37. I have lost 147 lbs and I'm still losing. It sometimes is hard to see so many reach their goal so quickly when i have so much more to lose. Don't let it get to you and just stay on your own course, just remember that people lose weight differently, and all at a different rate. Best wishes to you all on your weight loss journeys!
