  1. @@jadama22 the thing is, that you may find yourself without the desire to eat those foods again. Temptation is around me all the time, however i have no desire for it. My sleeve doesn't like it and it tells me almost immediately that whatever crap i put in my mouth is coming straight out - easiest telltale signs ever!! I love love love my sleeve! Wish you all the best on your weight loss journey xox

    80 grams of protein?

I was just reading up on isopure Protein powders to see if they were available in Australia, i found one stockist online in Sydney. Now the interesting information on the label for the zero carb range has 50 grams of protein per serve and its lactose free woohoo!! This will help me easily reach protein goal every day since i cant eat meat. I'm considering to bite the bullet and try this stuff only problem is i don't know what flavour!! Its fairly expensive here approx $90 to get it shipped to Melbourne so i don't want to get it here and not like the stuff - any advice on which flavours are nice?? http://www.theisopurecompany.com/en/powders
  3. I followed it 100% and not for 2 weeks, i did it for a month. My surgeon warned me that if he opened me up and saw that my liver had not shrunk he would not hesitate to close me up and revisit the surgery when i was fully committed to it! That alone scared the bejeezus out of me!

    Easter's Challenge

Checking in CW 278 thanks Susan
  5. Hi Janex43, i had my revision from band to sleeve done last Oct. i know exactly what you mean with regards to the band. My life pre sleeve was non existent as i was just simply too embarrassed to go out to eat and try and eat something when i knew that id be disrupting everyone by rushing off to the bathroom. There wasn't a day that went by without me hurling up some food. Post sleeve it has been a learning curve, don't get me wrong, i have had to rush to the bathroom, but that is because i was trying to work out what my sleeve would accept and its not anywhere near as bad as the band! I Love, Love, Love my sleeve!! I cannot eat meat or dairy, i cannot eat corn in any form and i now have GERD, but put all these small things aside, i can go out and have dinner with friends and family - i just now select foods that are vegetarian or seafood! I just finally feel normal! I wish you all the best with your weight loss journey xox
  6. My lymphoedema on my lower limbs is now almost unnoticeable, i don't live in constant pain from the osteoarthritis in my knees, I can now walk for an hour without feeling like im going to die! (Used to 5 mins then id quit)
  7. Thank you so much for sharing this article.. I was not very strict with taking my Vitamins and drinking Water, this has made me rethink on my bad habits and forced me to readjust and to correct my wrongs. Again, thank you xox
  8. Hi i saw this article posted the other day, has an excellent explanation about stalls http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php

October 2014 sleevers check in please!

Hi Kathy thank you, my main source is fish, eggs and nuts. I also started taking a egg Protein shake which has 21g protein per serve. I get between 30-50 grams of protein daily but most of the time its at the 30 gram mark as i just cannot eat more food. Over the weekend I'm going to try some deli meats to see how that goes - both turkey meat and chicken.. If it fails then ill just give up completely on meat! I haven't tried meat for a couple of months, i hope that my sleeve will accept it this time around as this will be an easier way for me to include more protein in my diet approx 7 grams of protein per slice.

October 2014 sleevers check in please!

Hi all, i finally saw this thread and thought i should check on in . Had my revision from band to sleeve 13th Oct 2014. I joined this site a lil later but i lurked for a bit and then just joined in the conversations . My stats so far: SW 383 lbs CW 279 lbs GW 165 lbs Its been a lil slow losing for me as i have only just started to add in exercise. I have lymphoedema on both lower limbs along with osteoarthritis on both knees. Since surgery my lymphoedema is diminishing, and oa gives me grief on the odd occasion. I don't get all my Protein in, i struggle with this and with Water intake every day. Since i was sleeved, i cannot eat meat or dairy, and have developed GERD which I'm on daily meds for. I had an emergency surgery at the end of January 2015 to get my gallbladder removed and was restricted with what i could do physically for 5 weeks. So you can see why my progress has been a little slow. No excuses, just the facts. I got the green light a few weeks back from my gallbladder surgeon and have started going on slow steady walks. Im now walking around 21,000 steps a week compared to 2,500 a week! I am trying to get to 5000 steps a day as my mini goal for exercise, i will get there . Life is good! xox

    Quitting Smoking Pre-Op

Hello there, i was a heavy smoker for close to 33 years, i tried quitting not once, not twice but three times and was finally successful dec 1st 2013! It takes time and determination and a lot of will to do it but its just so worth it. Smoking had so much control of everything i did. I didnt realise it until i sat down and thought how crazy i was thinking about waking up and panicking about not having a smoke ready and waiting for me when i woke up in the morning! Seriously, how disgusting was that?! I am in Australia and i used both Champix and Nicorette Inhalator. One to remove the cravings and the other to help with the habit of putting something in my mouth! This helped me immensely. Within 2 weeks of starting the Champix i stopped smoking! I dont crave a cigarette but also having said that, i will never ever contemplate having one EVER again, as i know that i will fall into the trap again. Life is just so much better now having quit! Keep up your Vitamin C up as you quit as this also helps. Wish you all the best xox
  12. I weigh myself every morning. I only record my weight if it changes - I use an app called TactioHealth, it works well with my Fitbit which I sync every few days to ensure data as a whole is up to date.
  13. Im 5 months post op in a couple of days and yes definitely can lose >100lbs. Im at 104lbs lost and counting

    sleeve to gallstones

I had mine out 3 months after I was sleeved. I was rushed to hospital on a Friday, gallbladder was out that following Sunday, it was all very sudden and very quick. I am finally now getting back into the swing of things as I couldn't drive or lift anything for 5 weeks post op. I am very independent and live alone, so having to rely on others to come and help me with normal daily duties was really hard. Now having been through all of that I can safely say that Im glad its out and that life is good! wish you all the best with it.
  16. i have not kept it a secret as such, as most ppl in my circle have known about my health problems for some time and while I only have told my family and close aunt/uncle and friends and colleagues (close) about my sleeve, it doesn't mean that if anyone should ask me or tell me that i'm looking great that I wont share this info. I am more than happy to advise them of what I have done as everyone knew I had the lapband and everyone knew that I had a terrible time with it for such a long time (4 years) - I had the revision done last year to sleeve.. and life is just so good!!
  17. I was 44 when i had my sleeve done in Oct 2014, i'm now a lil over 100lbs lighter and turning 45 at the end of the month .. Life is good!
  18. Awesome news! Wishing you all the best with your weight loss journey
  19. Your doing well, dont worry about how much others lose .. My loss was slow in the beginning and i had my doc telling me my loss was slow compared to others however they had been only sleeved.. Not revised to sleeve, so to me he was comparing oranges to apples! From what i have read generally, revised to sleeve patients lose weight slower in the beginning then they catch up, and this is what's happening to me. Just a lil advice take your measurements at least once every couple of weeks, this will show you while weight isnt coming off the scales, that its possibly shifting. Just stay on the path and keep plugging away. It will start to come off Wishing you every success with your weight loss journey xox

Any tips to get out of a stall?

I went through a 4 week stall was the most frustrating time, didnt put on any weight and of course didnt lose. I completely changed what i was eating and when i was eating, i found that this helped me start the weight loss ball rolling again. I went back to having the shakes i was on pre op in the morning and two small meals later in the day.

    Easter's Challenge

Reporting in.. 279 lbs today woo hoo!!
  22. Cheese sometimes doesn't affect lactose intolerance. I can eat cheese but milk and ice cream is bad...very bad. The other weird thing is, that some days I can eat it all and no problem. Other days I can't keep my protein shakes in. Im very much the same as kyrickchick64 with regards to dairy foods.. Do not be discouraged, you are doing well. Wish you all the best on your weight loss journey xox
  23. I know my band to sleeve revision has given me a second chance at LIFE! I wish i had done this sooner. I was banded 5 years ago and had the revision to sleeve on Oct 2014. Ive lost more weight with the sleeve than what i ever did with the terrible band! I wish you all the best with your weight loss journey.
