@jrquinter hi I was in hospital for 5 days / 4 nights. Reason is because my body kind of shut down on me, wouldn't allow anything other than Water go down and even then it was a major struggle. I wasn't too worried as I knew I was being well taken care ofAll started to get better on day 4, Ihad the Barium Swallow to ensure everything was ok. It hurt drinking that horrid stuff but you do what you have to do to ensure that the medical team that are taking care of you are doing just that.

I just received my delivery today from the US - 10 days is not so bad - pretty good imho anyway I purchased Syntrax nectar - fuzzy navel and its delicious. Just tastes like watered down orange juice. I will be trying other flavors in the future, but first I have to get through this tub and I also since found a supplier in the US that will deliver to Australia with very reasonable delivery charges as well as discounted products. woot!!

never mind on my previous post, I ended up getting myself a tried and tested Protein powder - Syntrax nectar and I received it today 23g protein per serve - I have the fuzzy navel and it is so yummy I definitely will be having this again, this just tastes like watered down orange juice - so easy to mix with just water! love it

@@Smye lol I had to check twice on the side ticker to check if you were a woman or a man while I was reading your post. Great post by the way! isn't it amazing how our bodies can change so frequently?! I do hope your hormones get back to normal and these symptoms ease! I wish you every success with your weight loss

@@mrs kaje its not about how many steps, its the fact that you are trying that matters????. When i first got my fitbit, first week i had recorded doing just under 7500 steps a week, i now do that a day! I have osteoarthritis in both knees as well as lymphoedema in both lower limbs. Anything is possible as long as you give yourself a chance????

Wow! Just WOW! Amazing transformation ???? you should be so proud of yourself ????

Why we hate fat people
VSGmary replied to gowalking's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@IcanMakeit I am the same and i honestly dont think i will ever change as i have gone through the daily struggles for such a long time. Not everyone reaches out for help or knows about these options that are available. It was almost 8 months ago that i found out about vertical sleeve gastrectomy here in Australia, so for me to assume that its commonly known would be facetious of me. -
Wow! You look fantastic and just so happy! ???? congratulations on getting to almost there!!

Second surgery!?!?
VSGmary replied to sarahbeth3569's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I developed Gerd after i was sleeved and my surgeon advised that if my symptoms got worse that there is no other option but to go ahead with a bypass. Luckily medication is working for me so far but i do have to sleep with a tonne of pillows to keep me upright. I have since had only one nasty incident which viciously woke me up at 2am and kept me up for the rest of the night/morning. I really hope you get some relief with the acid as your case sounds to be an extreme case. Wish you all the best with your weight loss journey. Please keep us posted on your status with this, as i for one am very interested as this may be a decision i may have to make one day in the future. Xox -
Oh hell no! I need mine to be shrinking no growing! ????

Hi fellow Aussies, thought i would share with you all an online store that was recommended by another BP member of where you can purchase Quest Bars, Syntrax nectar Protein powder and Vitamins at a very reasonable price and also has pretty good shipping rates, for example i just purchased 2 boxes of quest bars and the site gives you three options for shipping 1 @ 9.99 no tracking and can be delivered up to 30 days 2 @ 15.99 has tracking and guaranteed delivery between 5-9 days 3 @ 32.99 has tracking and i cant remember the exact minimum/ maximum days it was but it was less days than option 2! Site is called www.vitacost.com If you have found other online stores that will ship to Australia please post it here

Hi @@kimpossible67, you hit the nail right on the head when you said the magic word.. "incline". With the incline treadmill these days you can do a hell of a work out on it in less time. I move mine from between 2 - 4 depending on the speed im walking at. Check this video out - Beginner Incline Training , it will show you what you can do to help you achieve your goal faster etc on the treadmill. You may spend a hour walking on the road, but on the treadmill you can get the same results in a shorter amount of time. below are a couple of decent videos I found online : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUVrO8_reRs - incline training - glut and hamstring toning, flatten abdomen and posture enhancement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjMsIvmrYgY - interval training for beginners whilst I love walking by the lake where I live, winter is coming and im glad I purchased my treadmill last year in preparation for the days I wont be venturing out to exercise as im not a person to go out to a gym.

VSGmary replied to phillyfan99's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
@Elode thanks for the tip on vitacost.. they deliver to Australia and pretty reasonable prices! I just ordered 2 boxes of Quest bars - choc chip cookie dough and Cookies and cream - all quest bars are currently on 25% off! I was tempted to purchase Syntrax nectar from there but I have one tub coming to me via another source but I will be using Vitacost in future .. the shipping to Australia 5 - 9 days with tracking for $15.99 is amazing!! -
Anyone not enjoy thier 'food funeral'
VSGmary replied to dhrguru's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
my food funeral was bitter sweet. I was made redundant along with 6 colleagues of mine and the company gave us an all expenses paid dinner at a swanky hotel in Melbourne - we decided to have the buffet meal as we had been there before as a team celebrating some high achievements we had made at work (meals alone were $100 a head!). The dinner was on my last night before I was to go on liquid diet (good timing btw), while I enjoyed dinner, dessert the drinking I honestly didn't go overboard and I thought I would!. I was still recovering from having the lapband removed so I never went wild in the 10 weeks between surgeries, I just ate sensibly knowing what was ahead of me and the commitment I needed for it. -
@Elode re low sugar jerky, I found some today at costco - I bought a mix of Pork and Beef and from US and Australian brands, the US Brand - Golden Island is Pork Jerky Korean BBQ style has 8.4g Protein with 10.2g sugar (92 calories per serv). The Australian brand - Mariani Beef Jerky -10.6g protein with a low 2.6g sugar (67 calories per serv)! There is another brand I purchased from my local supermarket - called Local Legends Original Beef Jerky that has 13.2g protein with 5.7g sugar (86 calories per serv). Looks like the Mariani Beef Jerky is the best out of all three, however I haven't tasted it as yet. I have tried both Golden Island Pork Jerky - Korean BBQ Style (today), I really didn't look at the amount of sugar in it when I purchased it, I was just excited to get some jerky hahaha and the Local Legends Original Beef Jerky - both are very nice taste wise and satisfying. While they are all low in calories, I will be making better choices in future.. but damn the US Pork Jerky is so good! maybe ill treat myself some every now and then LOL. Unfortunately I don't know how to make Jerky myself, its not something that considered a regular snack type of meal here in Australia. however having said that, im guessing its getting more and more popular for me to have found them both in my local supermarket and also at Costco (not surprised it was there though).

While this is a public support forum I would and i'm sure we all would appreciate constructive criticism not criticism for arguments sake. I feel for the OP who came and posted and was made to feel the way she has. Its very unfair to make assumptions, please ask if you are unsure of what the OP means etc. We all have different journeys, not everyone has been educated about the specific operations each of us have had. Some people have had amazing amount of education about the sleeve pre op, but some like me have not had all that much and are still learning and taking it one day at a time and trying to read as much about it on this site as there is amazing information on here and amazing support. Whenever something new arises we come to see if someone else has gone through what we are going through and hopefully guide us through our issues etc. I ask for everyone to be patient with one another, please wishing you all every success with your weight loss journeys xox

@@Elode ha! you are doing hell of a lot better than me, i struggle daily with food and Water , but having said that im not complaining, i love my sleeve - it has given me my precious life back! I take my Vitamins daily (which reminds me i have to go take them like now! haha) i definitely do not get in as much calories as you, i wish i did! i have faced very minimal hair loss (i have fine thick hair (hope that makes sense lol) so its ok for me to lose some lol). Up until a couple of days ago i could not eat meat - i found out that my sleeve definitely loves beef jerky! so thats now added daily - helps me get to my Protein goal and again i dont meet that daily either. My surgeon isnt too worried at the moment as long as i keep up the vitamins and water'up, we plan on revisiting the food intake on next visit which is scheduled for May.' Im following his instructions but also trying to incorporate more protein in any form that i can daily - this has been shakes and on the odd occasion scrambled eggs up until a few days ago. wish you all the best with your lil sleeve diva and your weight loss journey xox

October 2014 sleevers check in please!
VSGmary replied to Jen - a work in progress's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi mona great news, i too struggle with water intake. I have even tried getting an app for my phone to remind me to drink every couple of hours and i still dont do it! Im very mad at myself and i do t know why i do this. Pre op i use to drink 24 cans of diet pop a week without hesitation, now its zero, so i haven't even replaced one for the other. Very frustrating indeed. Any suggestions from you all is welcomed! -
