  1. Hello friends - this is my first post so I appreciate any advice to help me through this stage. I was banded on 12/22 - usual routine. Liquid diet for 10 days prior and 5 days or so post-op. Since October 30th (when the whole process started) I have dropped around 24 pounds. For one week now, I have lost nothing and am actually gaining weight back. I am exercising and eating very small portions. I am having doubts about ever getting this thing put into my body. My first fill is in two more weeks ---- please tell me it gets better. Other than watching portions, drinking lots of water and exercising every day - what else can I do to get through this ?????????? I understand if if stay the same weight - but GAINING! WTF??? Thanks for listening.

    1st fill questions

Sig - congratulations on your 30 lb loss - that is amazing! I just had my first fill today (3CC) in a 10CC band. I don't feel all that good either, but I really think it is the emotions over the physical. This is yet another step on this journey and yet another step taking me away from the thing I loved to do the most. Maybe this is the time to go back to the core things we know: 25g of protein at every meal, drink slowly, no liquids with food, etc... etc... Since I am on the same schedule as you, I am not sure how it is "supposed" to feel like but I do think we need to consider emotions can driving the way we feel more than we think... relish in the joy your 30 pound loss and don't forget the basics...

To drink or not to drink!!??

My surgeon and diet guru told me no beer is allowed period...so I have faced the fact that carbonation is a thing of the past... Bud light lime was a staple for me in the summer so I will be curious to see how that goes... Reading this has really helped me because I like my glass of wine after work too so i am hopeful I will not lose that...(did i mention there is a glass right here next to me as i type).. When my diet guru said drinks only special occasions, i was like "Oh, you mean just Fridays then..." =) best of luck and never lose girls night!!!!

    Banded December 22nd, 2010

Thank you Victoria! I appreciate your reply.... I think it is easy to assume this thing is a silver bullet going into it and the fact that it is not is difficult to swallow... I am thinking to avoid the scale for a week but I am afraid if I do that, it could get worse... After reading the posts it seems this is very common but I wasn't expecting it at all... If i go higher than 5 pounds over my lowest i will probably have a melt down... Lol Good luck to you and keep me posted. Best, kristy
  5. Hi There - I am 34 years old and tipped the scale this week at 240. I weigh more than my husband and that is final straw. I live in Mission Viejo, CA and I am wondering if Lap Band is the solution for me. Behavior Modification has obviously failed and after years of dieting, we need to take it up a notch. I have enjoyed reading through this site so far and really look forward to connecting to people struggling with food addiction. I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on the following: - My purpose of losing the weight is to get pregnant (1st time), has anyone been pregnant while banded? - I am seeking a Doctor in Orange County and I just don't want to pick who Allergan recommends. - It sounds like the "pre" surgery work is intense, how long is the process from the first consult to surgery? Thank you for time and support - this is very scary and exciting at the same time... KC23
  6. Thank you everyone! I appreciate the feedback, I made one call today to start "the process"... Let the fun begin! Have a wonderful weekend!
