I am 4 1/2 months post op and I still have a dark spot on my skin at one of the surgical sites. I had a HORRIBLE bruise there for a few weeks after surgery. This is similar in color/appearance to a bruise which is healing but if that were the case it shouldn't still be here this long after! Does anyone else have this? What is it?

Dark spot at surgical site
2bullymom replied to 2bullymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cindyt that is exactly what I was afraid of! This is obviously darker. We take pictures and do my measurements every 4 weeks and it is blatantly visible in all of them. Not that everyone is going to be seeing my belly on a regular basis but we are going on a cruise for hubbies birthday/my college graduation this winter. I sure hope it's gone by then! I want to (gasp) wear a bikini! -
Dark spot at surgical site

I am sorry yours are dark but glad to hear I am not alone. The rest of mine are perfectly fine but this one is still dark. I wasn't really WORRIED about it I just hope it goes away and being 4 1/2 months out I was beginning to fear it wouldn't. -
I am thrilled beyond measure! As of yesterday's weigh in I am no longer obese! I never thought I would be so happy to be "overweight" in my entire life! But I have been obese for ATLEAST the past 10 years. We get so used to how we look/feel we can almost forget how it was before. Two weeks ago we lost my mil to ovarian cancer (btw KNOW THE SYMPTOMS) at the family gathering after the funeral last week a family member I have never met cornered me and said the nicest thing. She said "I was looking at your wedding pictures downstairs (I was larger when I got married) and you were beautiful." (At this point I'm wondering what is coming) Then she says "I mean you WERE beautiful then but now.........now you are so much MORE beautiful." It was such a wonderful compliment and really brightened my mood on a very sad day. Now to continue on until I am a "normal" weight!!!

Thanks guys! The compliment was amazing and oh so sweet. Thank you for the condolences. She was an amazing woman, she was so in to fitness her entire life. I hope to drop all the weight and get fit not only for me but to honor her.

I'm on there! I'm horrible about logging my food but I keep track of my weight religiously. Is there a way to document a PAST weight? I gained since I joined but didn't log my highest so it doesn't show all I have lost....... ANYWHO my screen name is Almcneel feel free to add me accountability is awesome!

Thank you guys! Once I got over the initial freak out I was ok. I probably grazed more than I should have but over all it was WAY better than I would have done in the past, so I am proud of myself. And I will get up tomorrow morning, shake this day off and get on with it!

I have been sooooo good at avoiding temptation. Today we are celebrating a coworker buying his first house and another coworkers last day due to promotion. I am afraid I am going to gain 5 lbs today only!!! I actually WANT to eat the day away. HELP!!!!!
-
Lol I haven't done as badly as I thought I would. I have allowed myself to have a bit of everything I want. So while I have not been the best, I refuse to look at it as "being bad." I don't flat deny myself any food because if I do I will binge later. I have a little bit and then move on!
-
The problem is it is all sitting right here in front of me.. Aargh. Idk why I am like this today when I have had no problem with temptation until now.

I am also having a hard time with protein. I am 13 weeks post op. My sleeve can't tolerate the protein shakes, protein bars, powder and Isopure have a funny whang in the taste which makes me ill. I'm really struggling with this. I know I am not getting anywhere near the 60 gr but I just can't figure out what to do. We have spent a fortune on all of these products which I can't tolerate
-
That's awesome!!! You have much to be proud of!

I set my goal at one week but wound up taking two. I was just so tired And my body needed the extra week to recover. Good luck to you!

I am 12 weeks post op. My adult daughter and her fiancé came for a visit this weekend. We had a great time on Sunday visiting local wineries and a distillery of course tasting was involved. My question is since then every time I eat I get a bit nauseous and uncomfortable. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be concerned?

I have wanted to be able to actually RUN a 5k for the longest time! Keep in mind I do NOT run......ever. Has anyone gone totally from couch potatoe to a "runner"?
-
How is it you can lose weight without losing many inches? I have lost 8 pounds over the last month. My upper body has stalled but my thighs have lost over an inch each. I don't understand how one does not correlate to another.......
-
Babbs you give me hope then! I have NEVER EVER EVER been a runner. At 44 years old I feared I was too old. Time to lace up the shoes and get going!
-
That is very true! I never thought of that! I guess I thought all of my fat made me fluffy on the outside! As we were measuring my thighs I also noticed changes. It was kind of funny there was a flat part on my thigh then it went fluffy again!

Leylada our surgeries were on the same day! My high was 246 (December) I was 224 day of surgery and am now 199. I also crave soda horribly. I was a HUGE diet coke drinker but I will NOT do so now. I have switched to diet Lipton Tea. Good luck and let me know how you're doing!

#9grammy in TWO WEEKS you went from a size 14 to a 10?? WHOLEY MOLEY! I started at an 18-20 in March and am down to a 14-16 now. I would be thrilled if I could get in to a 10 in 2 weeks! Awesome for you!
-
What does it take to get most insurance companies to cover this? Rashes, etc??? I'm thinking ahead here
-
I have been using a straw since day one! My surgeon says it's fine and it helps me get my fluids in.
-
My surgeon specifically told me NOT to consume ANYTHING gummy at all because it doesn't digest.

Finally Lost Weight! Under 200# !
2bullymom replied to ab123.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Woo hoo! I hit that same goal today and I am thrilled! Enjoy girl! -
That was my weight this am! I am finally below 200!!!!! Barely but I am there! If only I could keep from freaking myself out. This is the weight range I was able to get to when I would try to lose weight prior to surgery. Then I would never make it any further. I am questioning if I will make it any further or if this is it and the surgery was for nothing. I know I know STOP IT!!! But for today I am celebrating my loss AND the fact I am finally beginning to have clothes be too big. I had only 3 pair of jeans and 5 t shirts that fit when I was a t my biggest so now my Pre Biggest clothes are getting too big ! Woot woot!
