I was just advanced to puréed foods yesterday and have been doing great. My problem is hubby and I went out for a while tonight and I allowed myself tongi too long between meals (6 1/2 hours) and I got HUNGRY. Along with this hunger came SEVERE PAIN. Not just hunger pains but tear jerking PAIN. I have now eaten a little bit and am doing some better but has this ever happened to anyone because this is scary. This was like right after surgery pain

1 week post op protein problems....
2bullymom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all!! I had my surgery 1 week ago today. Recovery has neither been as bad nor as good as I imagined it could be. Fluids are easy for me, protein is not. Protein is sitting like a rock on my stomach. I have yet to be able to get near the 60 oz my surgeon wants me to get daily. It is just uncomfortable. And I am feeling it. I am weak and have no stamina. Does anyone have any ideas? I had hoped to return to work tomorrow after my post op appt -

YAY YOU!!! What an awesome feeling that must have been! -
I am 11days post op and wondering how many calories a day everyone is consuming? I have no idea how many is concerned "normal" or "too little." For the record I am 5'6" and 223 lbs since I know prior to surgery that mattered with calorie intake

I "get it" believe me. I am 2 weeks out and can have puréed foods but not meat/cheese. I am sooooo tired of soups I could scream! I still have 2 weeks left in this phase, hoping I can make it thy mentally

So I have heard contradictory stories.....why are we not suppose to drink from a straw?
2bullymom replied to Thinkingthinner1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon says straws are just fine. I specifically asked because of things I had read on here. -
I guess I am less than 600-700 calories on a daily basis. I am getting my protein but that is thanks to Isopure drinks. And should we eat when we get hungry or on a scheduled basis? I'm afraid to fall in to the grazing habit but if I'm hungry after eating 2 hours prior then I'm hungry!!

2bullymom replied to 2bullymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you SO MUCH!!! My husband was ready to take me to the emergency room. I literally had tears rolling down my cheeks. Used to be prior surgery I didn't get hunger pangs until I was WAY PAST hungry and by then I was NASTY. Note to self...........don't go too long between meals. -

I am 7 days out and my pouch is very noisy as well. I am certan this is something that will correct itself with healing. I am actually surprised you are allowed to have "cream of" soups! I am still clear liquids until tomorrow. I am only two days ahead of you so all I can say is hang in there I am certain it will get better -

They said I am to "work my way up to it" but when they called to check up on me Friday they were REALLY pushing the 60g thing. I will have hubby pick up some Isopure on the way home from work tonight. He is going to GNC anyhow to pick up some Protein powder for me. I have shied away from Isopure because I have heard so many people DON'T like it. But these Protein shakes are just too much. I also was on clear liquid a week prior. My surgeon's office says for this procedure your amount of time off obviously depends on the type of job you do, but given I have basically a desk job they said I should be ok at a week to two. Of course me being me, I set my goal at the shorter end of that. I guess we will just have to see what he says tomorrow. -

You don't taste the protein because it's full of SUGAR! Be wary of Smoothie King and use as a treat (potentially later on). You may find yourself more sensitive to sugar especially for the first few months. Some sleeves don't "dump" but mine does if I over do it on sugar. It's improved with time, but just a word from the wise! I did check the nutrition information for Smoothie King because my surgeon was very specific as to what I can have. My protein sources must have more then 4x more protein than they do total carbs. I did see one smoothie from Smoothie King which fit in to this category as long as no changes are made to it and that is the gladiator. IDK if my sleeve will "dump" or not, but I don't intend on giving it reason to find out! -

Wow girl! I guess imam blessed then! I am so sorry you had those problems! I am able to handle broths, s/f Popsicles, s/f jello and even s/f hard candy to suck on for a treat. Just the friggin protein and I guess I'm just more worried than maybe I need to be because I really hoped to go back to work tomorrow after my appt. if I can't get some stamina built up I don't see that happening. How far are you out now? Has it gotten better? -

Sorry I always get that mixed up its 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of fluids. I'm having a hard time getting anywhere near the 60 grams it just sits so hard on my stomach -
March 2015 Sleevers
2bullymom replied to giggleblue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 2nd as well. Monday was horrible. Not due to pain or nausea but because all I wanted was to sleep and I was put in a semi private room with someone who LOVED the attention she was getting from all of this. Seriously nurses were constantly in the room for one thing or another. Finally I had a mini meltdown because I could NOT get any rest because of her. The nurses felt sorry for me and found a private room to move me to. From that point on until discharge the next afternoon I was pretty much out of it and slept, I think I walked a total of 4 times. Slept all day Wednesday, felt better Thursday and COMPLETELY overdid it-made hubby a nice dinner, went up and down the stairs several times doing laundry and picking up the house. Paid the price yesterday, felt like crap but was still stubborn and cooked hubby a nice dinner. Once it was done crashed on the couch forgetting my cell phone was on silent......woke up to sheriffs deputies, an ambulance and two paramedics at my door because hubby had been trying to reach me and couldn't.........I was dehydrated so it was a good thing. Now per paramedic and hubby's orders I am banned to the couch for the remainder of my time off work. Learn from my example guys.....take it slow. -
I was just sleeved on Monday and released to home yesterday (Tuesday). My blood sugars gradually rose after surgery, from the 90s then up to the 120s, 130s and finally before discharge it was in the 160s. I am not diabetic, I hadn't had much to drink at all and am just wondering why they would have gone up so much. Diabetes runs in my family and that is a large reason I got sleeved to begin with, to lessen my risk. Has this happened to anyone else?

I am on day 4 of my 7 days of pre-op liquid diet. I have been so proud of myself, I have done so well. I have not been tempted and not really had any hunger. Well today is the day of the week when the office orders in lunch and smelling people's food has started it. Im STARVING!!!! My stomach is growling and I just want to cry. This is horrible. HELP!!!!!
-
I made it thru!!! I seriously thought I was going to have to excuse myself to my car for a few minutes to get away from the smells and just cry. I genuinely hadn't been hungry at all before then. But that was AWFUL!! Once it passed I was ok. Vi was even able to sit with my coworkers and have my sugar free Popsicle while they had cheesecake (my favorite thing in the WORLD) for a birthday celebration. Surgery is Monday, I keep telling myself it will get better bit by bit after that.

Good luck to you!!! Please keep us informed of how it goes but I am certain you will do great!!

???? Calling all March Sleevers....let's support each other!????
2bullymom replied to time for june's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am starting day 3 of the liquid diet and both yesterday and today I have woke up at 3 am with horrible headaches. I do suffer migraines but as someone else said, these are different. To this point I haven't really been hungry, just tired early in the evening. I hope the headaches go away and the vitamins kick in so I won't crash so early. Just ready to have Monday here and over. -

March 2 here!! I started the process two years ago with my 6 months physician assisted weight loss. I was pretty successful and no longer needed surgery at that time, then life happened. The weight came back on(plus) we moved to a new city last fall, new family practice brought up the subject of surgery mid December and now here I am 5 days away! Talk about a whirlwind! On day two of pre op liquid diet. Hasn't been too bad so far. Just really want Monday to get here and over with so the healing can begin and life start getting to my new normal -
Looks like I am right there with you! My surgery is March 2!! I start the pre op diet tomorrow and I will admit I am a bit freaked out!!!
