I use Syntrax Nectar. I like the Fuzzy Navel flavor the best, but also like the lemon tea. They sell a variety pack so you can try some flavors out.

Good luck to y'all. Taking care of your animals shouldn't be a problem and you will smell different to them after surgery so usually there's no problem with them climbing on you or sitting on your abdomen.
-
The morning after pill should not affect your surgery in any way. You will be fine. Relax, you're almost there!

I started my liquid diet today too. I can't believe that the time is now fastly approaching. At one point it seemed to take so long for it to get here and now I'm getting excited! Good luck to you!

I'm a Radiology procedure nurse and work with 2 other nurses who are slim, eat healthy, and exercise. I was hoping working with them that I would absorb their good habits but haven't in the last 2 years. My VGS will be on the 24th and I think they will be excellent support post op because no one ever brings bad things to our department to eat. Looking forward to the journey.

I haven't had my sleeve yet, (August24) but I envision crab or boiled shrimp since I live on the coast.

Sent a join request. I'm being sleeved on August 24, am 50 and this is part of my turning half a century old journey. Thanks for the invitation.

I'm scheduled for August 24th and can't wait to get the show on the road! Let the journey begin....

Protein Shakes and samples
Fluffypal replied to Nikki Monroe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have the syntrax nectar shakes because I don't drink milk and don't even like things that remind me of a milkshake. I start my liquid diet on August 10 and the dietician said she was concerned that I would get enough calories because those shakes have only 100 calories per shake. Any suggestions from anyone on what else to do during the liquid stage to get more calories? The dietician was no help what so ever. 4 shakes will give me 92grams of protein but only 400 calories. I feel defeated before I even get started. -

RogofUlm's journey to goal weight and beyond (with tips)
Fluffypal replied to Rogofulm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your journey sounds identical to mine up until surgery. My surgery will take place on August 24. Thank you for sharing your journey, I feel like I'm on the right path and most of all congratulations to you! -
Plan now for how you are NOT going to pick your children up! You won't be able to lift a child for a couple of weeks if not longer after surgery. Prepare yourself and your child for that now! That will include lifting into car seat, stroller, etc.

I can't wait to have that feeling. I have bad knees, so I'm looking forward to a lot less pain as I lose weight.

BCBS of Illinois *** anyone?
Fluffypal replied to HopeandAgony's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There are a lot of hoops to jump through before being cleared for surgery and each has a purpose. The pulmonologist will more than likely do a pulmonary function test and maybe a sleep study. A lot of people have obstructive sleep apnea and that needs to be addressed before surgery. I'm also a nurse so I've seen a lot of bariatric patients through work. I was surprised by how involved the preop process was after I saw the surgeon. I was even required to have 3 sessions with an addiction therapist because of my sugar addiction. Those turned out to be the best sessions I had and I learned the most about bariatric surgery from her because she is a 12 year post op gastric bypass. Keep your head up. You will feel so ready by the time surgery happens! -

BCBS of Illinois *** anyone?
Fluffypal replied to HopeandAgony's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been on this journey since December and my surgery will be August 24th. I finished all of the hoops I had to jump through that you just mentioned in 4 months and could have done it sooner if I didn't have such an inflexible work schedule. 2-you need to find protein drinks that you really like now before you have the surgery. I knew I was really going to miss drinking sweet tea, so I found Nectar ice tea flavor whey protein isolate. Google protein drinks and see if you can order some sampler packs to try them out. 3-you can do this! -

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)
Fluffypal replied to Need-a-Sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been a nurse for 28 years and am planning to have a sleeve in August or September. I've gone through the entire pre-op work up and consultations and my chart was sent to insurance for review this past week. I'm trying to imagine how to keep the momentum up for the next few months until surgery. Any ideas? I'm making some changes now so it won't be such a shock to my system at surgery time. -

I tried the lemon tea and really liked it, but would like to try some other flavors to see what else I like without having to buy a whole box.
