Ok, so, I go to my 1 year post op, and I am down 170. Go me. Anyways, I tell the nurse that I have to eat like 4 or 5 times a day to get enough Protein in because I hate food and can't force myself to get it down. So she says, we need to resolve this, and acts like its pretty important. THEN... they take my stats 102/106 with a heart rate of 48 and poof, my food issues are a non-issue. They are sending me to a cardiologist. My appointment is in August. I had high blood pressure when I was fat. But the more I lose, the lower my pulse gets. And my log since my checkup is this: 102/62 hr 50 102/68 hr 48 106/57 hr 50 107/64 hr 65 117/75 hr 48 So... the cardiologist says keep doing the log till he can see me. I will get an ekg, and go home with a monitor, and there was discussion of a pacemaker. I am 36. They told me that if I had stayed fat, I probably would have worn my heart out by 40. Like, drop dead worn it out. In the past month I have: passed out in the shower, blacked out on a roller coaster, and gotten dizzy and faint at least 5 times a day and sometimes I get so weak I feel like I have been hit by a damn truck. My eating and hating food is on the back burner for 3 months until we get my heart under control.

I am 11 months out, and honestly, all food just has lost its appeal. Nothing sounds good. I hate mealtime. I sit down to eat and force every bite. I end up barely eating. If it weren't for protein shakes I would be sick. Is this normal? Anyone else hit this wall at maintenance phase? I seriously just don't want to eat. 11 months out & I hate food!
SAD HATTER replied to SAD HATTER's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks. Its only been like this about a month or so. food just tastes different. Now fruit, I still enjoy. But I keep that to a minimum. I try to vary my diet with tuna, catfish, chicken, turkey, pork, steak, shrimp, eggs, sausage. But after a while I guess my taste buds were kinda like, can we just eat a damn salad? And my colon is all....noooo because salad makes us poo. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App Oh, and I have a scheduked check in with the surgeon next week. I plan on asking. When can I eat potatoes, pasta, etc.,?
SAD HATTER replied to healthier&happier4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 11 months out ( on July 13th) and I JUST started adding some complex carbs. I do sweet potato and baked potato (very very rarely). And if pasta is allowed to sit and get really fat and absorb tons of liquid, I might have a few bites. I use the veggie pasta stuff. But I only eat pasta I cook. When you eat out, they cook it al dente and that means it finishes absorbing in your stomach and expands. I have yet to do toast. But I do wheat crackers with my tunafish. Not a lot, just a few. -

When your RNY stops working...
SAD HATTER replied to UrsulasShadow's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My surgeon told me to expect to gain around 25 lbs after hitting my lowest and after my body adjusts. She said it can take years, but to expect it. -
How much can you eat?
SAD HATTER replied to sarahbethemails's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Until 2 months out, I was only allowed 1-2 Tbsp of food. Now at almost 3 months, some things I can eat 1/4 cup of. chicken I can eat very little of. Ground beef I can eat almost a 1/4 cup, same with refried Beans, and I can eat 2 eggs over easy, but only 1 scrambled. And Yogurt tastes tooooo sweet to me so I can't eat it. -

August surgery updates-where are you now?
SAD HATTER replied to ptsmile's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery was on 8/13. I have been doing crossfit since week 6. I went to work 5 days after surgery. My energy level is really up, and I feel really good about myself. I did have a stall for 3 weeks, and that sucked big time. But the scale is slowly moving again. I lost 15 lbs before surgery, and I am down 80 total. -
RNY 8-13-15 HW 365+ (my scale says err at 365) SW 350 CW 300 6' tall 35 yrs old I have been doing cross-fit for 2 weeks now. I have been stalled for about a week. I hate trying to find something to eat. I also hate trying to figure out how MUCH to eat. I either don't eat enough, or I eat one bite too many. UGH

Can anyone compared RNY to c-section?
SAD HATTER replied to RNYDawn's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had 2 c-sections. One was horrible. I was in the hospital a week, and didn't walk well for a month. One was better. My RNY I was up walking in an hr, and went home the next day, and was at work in 3. Gas pain sucks. Just keep on trucking and it get easier each time. At least there are no diapers or middle of the night feedings with this though. ha -
Dry skin, flakey, red, burning. My face is killing me after bypass
SAD HATTER posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thursday will be 6 weeks since my bypass. I am doing ok. I am losing steadily. My stall was only 3 days... HOWEVER.... My face is dry, red, peeling, and driving me nuts. Nothing is helping. Everything I put on it burns. Did anyone else have this issue, and how did you solve it? -
My therapist says (God I never thought I would start a sentence like that) that grazing can be stopped with mindful eating. This is what she had be do before surgery, so I would know how to handle it after if it came up. Pick up the food you want. Look at it. Smell it. Touch it. Take a tiny teeny itsy bitsy bite. What does this food feel like in your hands, smell like, look like, taste like. What emotions does it bring back. If you take another teeny bite, does it change the emotion? If you do this, and you still think eating that food will lead to a happier you, then eat it. But most of the time, it leads to regret, and I end up putting it down. Once I licked doritos... the struggle is real.
