pasquina replied to time for june's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only three days to go! This weekend, my diet is all liquids, no more Optifast bars. Surgery is Monday at 7:00am. Time to pull together my hospital bag! -
Surgery date before ins approval?
pasquina replied to smile121's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one required nutritionist visit with Cigna. I had to have 4 medical management appointments with my PCP, one month apart. However, my surgeon has his patients do a pre-op class with the nutritionist to discuss diet immediately after surgery. -
What were you allowed on pre-op liquid diet?
pasquina replied to asidle82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon has all of his patients follow an Optifast diet, using optifast products for at least two week pre-op. I have been allowed three shakes and two bars a day, plus all the Water I want. Two days before surgery, it will just be shakes and water. -

You do. I also have Cigna. However, the insurance coordinator is giving me them April 13th as the potential date. If all goes through as planned, that should be your date, but won't be officially your date until Cigna approves it. -

Baraitric Surgery and Insurance
pasquina replied to megieg's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had my initial info session last March, around the 15th. I saw the surgeon April 8th. I had jumped through all the hoops they required for surgery by the end of August. Due to insurance snafus, I am finally having my surgery this Monday. So, it took me almost 11 months from start to finish. -

The pre-op diet was horrible for me the first three days. I've now been following it for 9 days and it's so much easier this week. I've also lost at least ten pounds so far too, which is exciting. The only problem I've really had with the diet was the withdrawal from caffeine the first two days and now my blood sugar keeps dropping, so I just have to make sure i eat every three hours on the dot. This weekend i go to liquids only, sine my surgery is this Monday at 7;00am!!! -
I am 36 and will be having surgery on March 2--11 days away!

March Surgery Date Scheduled
pasquina replied to Kimpicc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just about to write a similar post myself! I start my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow and am terrified of how horrendous it will be. My surgery date is 3/2/15 and I've been working toward having this surgery done sine 4/8/14. I am not telling all my co-workers about what type of surgery I am having, just that I'm having surgery. I know that this the right decision, but it's still nerve wracking. Just last night I asked a dear friend of mine why I should have it done and he gave me a very good list of reasons. I'm just grateful that I have a very supportive group of family and friends, as well as a good therapist.
