I just discovered this feature of LBT, so I apologize for taking so long to reply.
Assuming that you do have 2 yrs history (thank goodness for 2 and not 5 yr history) and proper diet visits, we often have to fax things several times to insurance companies before they actually "acknowledge" receipt.

Hi Dr. Vuong,
I was hoping you could answer a question for me. Last week I was denied by my insurance company (Aetna) coverage for the lapband. Their reasoning was I didn't have proof of 2 years of severe obesity and no proof of a diet and exercise program supervised by my physician. I gave all that information to the Bariatric Coordinator at my surgeon's office and she says she faxed all that information to Aetna. Now how can they deny me and what should I do about it?

They claim they don't have proof of me being obese for the last 2 years and that I didn't follow a 6 month diet and exercise program supervised by my physician. I gave all that paper work to the Bariatric Coordinator at my surgeon's office and she says she sent all that to my insurance company. My surgeon's office is just waiting for the official denial letter so they can get their lawyer involved since I have all the information the insurance requires. I just don't understand it all. I didn't want to spend another summer being this big. I am really frustrated to say the least! -
