You know you lost weight when

This thread is actually making me tear up. We all have so much to celebrate!

You know you lost weight when

This thread is wonderful! -when you work in a psych hospital and the patients no longer put "fat" in front of the names they call you -when people call you "little" and "small" -when you can shop at the same stores your friends go to but sometimes still can't find clothes because things are too big -when you actually accept invites because you no longer feel too fat to be seen in public -when you're no longer the fattest person in the room -when guys flirt with me! I still don't understand it most of the time and only later realize hey that guy was flirting with me! -when your rings and watches slide off -when you have more clothes that are too big rather than too small -when you don't mind being in pictures -when you feel cold instead of sweaty all the time -when you realize you have ribs, a collar bone, hip bones, and bones in your knees -when you no longer dread sitting on the floor because now you know you can get back up -when stepping on the scale no longer makes you cry -when you have enough energy to get through a normal day -when you can fit into airplane seats and carnival rides -when people actually worry you're getting too thin or are jealous of you -when you can fit into and look good in designer clothes -when clothes shopping is fun again -when you're able to limit yourself to a few bites instead of several helpings because you no longer have the "f-it I'm already fat" attitude Ok, I'm forcing myself to stop here. ????

    How to maintain

I think you hit the nail on the head: easing up on the restrictions, although somewhat exciting, also makes me feel horribly guilty. I followed a very strict diet until I hit my goal weight. I don't want to go back to my old eating habits because that's why I needed the surgery in the first place. But I don't know how else to stop losing. I don't look emaciated and still have some curves, but I don't want those things to change either. Thank you both for the feedback!
  4. Hi All. I was sleeved 2/3/15 at 275 lbs. and a height of 5'7". I hit my goal weight of 160 lbs. in October. However, since then, I can't stop losing weight. I can't believe I'm even saying, let alone complaining about that, as this is certainly a problem I have never faced before in my life. I'm 146 lbs. now, so I'm not underweight and am still considered "normal" by all the charts. But I'm losing my curves and still losing hair, so I'm starting to become concerned. I've added back in everything except carbonation, but of course it's all in moderation now since I still eat small portions and become full quickly. Any advice?

    Drinks

When I crave fruit, I have sugar-free popsicles. I've actually craved fruit a lot since surgery.

    Birth control during surgery?

I'm 3 months post-op and was on the pill at surgery. One thing I can add is that even being on the pill, my period got all screwed up for a good month following surgery. Many other women experienced similar things (there are several threads about this). I don't know about your specific type of birth control, but for me, even though I stayed on my pill, I had issues. That being said, I did not have blood clots, just an extremely heavy and long-lasting period.

    Salads!

I'm 3 months out and eat a salad almost every day for lunch. The lettuce doesn't give me problems, but I definitely have to be careful to get my protein in because otherwise I'll fill up on just the lettuce.

    Weight loss

My weight loss started off really slowly, and I was on this same forum saying pretty much the same thing you're saying now. Like others told me then, it's different for everyone, and it will get better. ????

    Weight loss

Thanks for sharing that site, @JamieLogical. My surgery was 2/3/15 and 3 months out I am down 56 pounds! I have had several stalls, the longest being almost 2 weeks. I've noticed that if I'm in a stall, I can usually get out of it by kicking up my water intake even more.

    How to take pills

Be careful crushing pills, some are not meant to be crushed and you will get too much of the med at once if they are crushed. This is especially true for any extended release meds. You could ask the prescribing doctor or your pharmacy if the med comes in an easier-to-digest form. You could also try adding the crushed pills to tuna salad or even salad dressing, something with its own strong flavor.

    Women Only!

This is exactly what happened to me. I haven't had a period that heavy since my teens. And I'm on the pill too. My next period was completely normal for me though, so it seemed like a one-time thing due to the stress to the body after surgery.

When should I take my vitamins?

I was having the same problem of feeling nauseous when I took my vitamins. What I do now is an hour or so before bed, I eat something (even if it's just a few bites) and take all my pills except for the calcium citrate chews. I take the calcium when I wake up.

    My 600 pound life

I had never seen the show until after my surgery. It was my most emotional day; I was so angry with myself for having the surgery and had a bunch of other self-esteem-zapping thoughts repeating in my head. Then I saw the show. And I realized I had been thinking the exact same way about food as the people on that show. I realized that it is only thanks to time and luck that I wasn't yet that weight. I realized that not only was this surgery the right thing for me, but it is my only real chance at controlling my weight.
  17. I was sleeved Feb. 3rd. I was doing pretty well, getting in my fluids, and started feeling less weak after I was able to start adding food. And then it all changed when I added Vitamins. My doctor said not to add in vitamins until 2-3 weeks post-op, so I have only been taking them for just over a week now. I'm only taking exactly what my doc and nut suggested, and the vitamins are all made specifically for bariatric patients. But they make me incredibly nauseous. So nauseous that even drinking Water makes me feel like I might vomit and like my tummy is doing somersaults. I didn't really mean to, but cut back on my fluids so much as a result of this that I ended up at an urgent care clinic having to get 2 bags of IV fluids due to dehydration. I know my body needs the vitamins, but they make me feel so crappy. It seems to help a little to take them with food, but I still feel nauseous. Has anybody else experienced this? I'm so frustrated because I had been doing so well!
  18. Things I didn't see coming: -being so emotional! -water tasting strange -smells bothering me/ things smelling weird -becoming nauseous with vitamins

    No problems...'til vitamins

My multivitamin, B complex, and probiotic are all Bariatric Advantage. I also take vitamin D and a calcium chew (though the calcium doesn't bother me). I never thought about taking them at night! I will be trying that tonight. Thank you all so much for the feedback!! I'm feeling hopeful again ????

    Weight Wise in Edmond, OK

I did! I was sleeved Feb. 3rd, 2015. They have been great! I was a self-pay from another state, and they were flexible and helped me schedule everything.
  21. I've noticed sensitivity to smells and that my body smells different too (especially my urine). Thank you for posting this!

    February sleevers

I've had the emotional struggles too. I feel like I'm having to break up with food. I miss it and the comfort it used to bring me, but I know I'm better off without using it in this unhealthy way. I'm also starting to wonder if I'm dehydrated. I've been feeling physically crappy, weak, and now have had a headache for 2 days (though I used to get bad headaches pre-op too). I've been drinking but not enough. I'm contemplating going to an urgent care center for IV fluids.

    February sleevers

@@cstrickland428, I have had stabbing pain in the middle of my chest too, but only if I eat a bite or two more than I should. Are you on any meds for nausea or acid reflux? I was prescribed meds for both after surgery just in case. I suggest talking to your doctor as soon as possible. I have had a few days where I broke down in tears and felt like I made a huge mistake. A lot of others on here have talked about that too. For me, those thoughts passed when I reminded myself that every other way to lose weight that I've tried hasn't worked for me.

    SUGGESTIONS ON EATING OUT!

I'm interested to hear if anyone else has suggestions for eating at restaurants. I have a ways to go before I'll be ready for that, but I like to plan ahead. ????

    Feeling cold.

I was sleeved 2/3 and have been experiencing the same thing. However, I do feel "normal" temperature-wise at work when I'm more active.
