Do some people never need fills? And other mysteries to me!
Daisybelle replied to Jachut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't think I'm necessarily an "easier case", but just getting the band has been a definite motivator for me. Of course, I am only 5 weeks post-op, but I really don't see the need for a fill at 6 weeks, or anytime in the near future (for me, that is). My insurance didn't cover the surgery - and won't cover anything related to the banding in the future. We had to pay for the surgery ourselves and will have to pay for anything medically related to the band's (or my) failure in the future. So, maybe that's why I am more motivated and more careful to follow my doctor's orders to the letter?? -
Okay this is day 3 and I am starving!!
Daisybelle replied to divaliciousdee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor told me before I left the hospital to remember to drink as much Water as I could hold between meals and that if I ever felt hungry it was because I wasn't drinking my water. Maybe you aren't getting enough water? BTW, Am I the only one who hasn't felt overwhelmingly hungry.. ever.. since surgery? I do occasionally feel a twinge of hunger, but nothing so intense as mentioned above. In fact, I usually have to push myself to get in 1200 calories a day now. -
Personally, I am too scared to risk dislodging my band. I paid too much and want too much for it to work to screw it all up on a whim. Just the idea that if I overeat or eat something I shouldn't might make me throw up and dislodge the band so that I will have to pay for another surgery (not to mention go through the whole process again) keeps me from being anything but extra careful and attentive to what I eat.

I've been banded 5 weeks and still fill up quickly and easily. It's not that I am necessarily "tight", just I think, that I have learned new eating habits and I want so badly for this to work that I am not about to overeat and ruin it all. I see no reason to have a fill any time soon.

I could drink up to 2 litres of regular Coke or Dr. Pepper a day - preband. But when the doctor told me I should avoid sodas after banding I decided I would quit cold turkey ahead of time. No sodas for 3 weeks pre-op and I lost 20 pounds! Now, I don't have any desire for one.. well, maybe that's not exactly true. There are times I think "I need a Coke", but when I really think about it, I don't "need" or even want a Coke anymore.

Anyone tried Dasani water with lemon?
Daisybelle replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I thought I would love it because I love lemon in my Water, but I didn't realize it was sweetened. Waaaaay to sweet for me. I'll stick to squeezing lemons in my regular Dasani. -
First thing I noticed was that my boobs were deflating! ) Hooray for you though! Any reduction is terrific in my book!

I did this and I was soooo disappointed! I had lost 29 pounds during my 2 weeks on liquids (my Dr. recommends 2 wks liquid, 2 soft, then regular), but as soon as I started my soft foods I started gaining weight back and gained a total of 9 during that phase. I just started regular foods yesterday so I don't know about that part yet. But from what I understand it's normal to gain when you start eating because of the excess amount of fluid lost during the liquid phase and because of the actual weight of the food in your body - and because of the constipation and gas issues that may plague you now. At least that's what I've been told. I just hope it stops soon!

Tonight I am going to have my first real food since being banded. I must admit I'm kind of scared. I've cooked the chicken "to death" as my husband puts it, so I know it will be tender and I'm having French-style string Beans which should be no problem. But still, I'm worried something will get stuck and I will vomit and my band will move and I'll have to start all over again!

Sorry, I'm new and don't know all the lingo yet. What does "NSV" stand for? Holly
-
Thanks so much! Know what my first NSV was? I can fit under the steering wheel of my car without my stomach rubbing! I counted that as a MAJOR victory! Now I can even run my hand between the steering wheel and my body... YAY, YAY, YAY!!

Yeah thats right I bought a size 16 dress
Daisybelle replied to alatina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's great!! You know, some people might think a 16 is pretty big, but honestly I can't wait to buy something that SMALL! Hooray for you! -
Me too! I used to drink 2 or 3 glasses of Water or tea while I ate. It's so hard not to have anything now... I must admit that sometimes I just need a small sip or 2 as I eat. :ermm I do looooove the full feeling after eating only a small amount though. I never, ever seemed to feel full before my surgery. I could eat and eat and eat and just never fill up...

I was a full-time, homeschooling mom for 15 years and I loved it! Then I took some floral design classes and found out I loved that too. So I took the test, got my license and started working part-time as a florist which still gives me plenty of mom time. Been doing that just over a year.
