I just realized all the typos in my first reply. I’ll blame the pain meds lol. I actually came home the same day. Hard to say on the total recovery time. Everyone heals differently. The company I work for shuts down the week of Christmas and took these next 2 weeks leading up to the holiday off. That way I’ll have at least 3 weeks off before having to go back to work.

What is recommended for Tummy Tummy Recovery?
OneDollarBill replied to terryjones's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
A paniectomy, is the excess skin of the tummy only where as the abdominalplasty is the full tuck including the muscles. -
Plastics or no plastics ?
OneDollarBill replied to dreamingsmall's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have no pain in the chest area at all and really no pain while resting in the recliner. Now when I get up to walk around or go to the bathroom I have some pain/discomfort since you have to walk bent over and gravity pulling on the Abdominoplasty. I have no pain from the tummy tuck incision site. I go back to the Dr on Friday to get the staples removed. -
The procedure went well and last about 4 hours. Dr said he removed about 10lb of excess skin. I am less then 48 hours post-op and feel pretty good. The majority of the discomfort is from the Abdominoplasty. Dr said I bled a lost even though I avoided aspirin, etc 2 week prior. I was pretty weak yesterday but sipping on good ol protein shakes and lost of rest have helped.

Plastics or no plastics ?
OneDollarBill replied to dreamingsmall's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you. I am less than 48 hours post-op and feeling pretty well. Dr said he removed about 10lbs of excess skin. I went yesterday morning for my first follow-up and bandage replacement . It was crazy looking down and seeing a flat belly. The majority of the discomfort is from the Abdominoplasty. -

Yes, and I am my surgery next Monday, December 11th. I'll be undergoing Panniculectomy with Add-On Abdominoplasty as well as the Gynecomastia. Nervous to say the least. -
I meant to say guide and not training. Thanks for the clarification. I just know your post in the men's forum was a huge help to those of us looking to put a baseline routine together. I know it helps me with the breaking out of doing the same old same old routine from the past.

I highly recommend DDP Yoga. https://ddpyoga.com/ They have DVDs which is what I have, but since then they now have an iOS (not sure on Android) App. Get yourself a medball/slamball and some kettlebells. Good old air squats are a killer too Other than that walk, jog, run, etc. Exercise isn't a huge mystery. You just got to get out there and move. If you do end up going to a gym look here for @BigVifferroutine.

Challenge Accepted/Completed - Infinity Gauntlet Challenge
OneDollarBill posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
This takes crazy to a new level for me. This past weekend I completed the runDisney 2017 Infinity Gauntlet Challenge as part of the Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend. This was the last runDisney event scheduled for the Disneyland Resort as all future events have been canceled/postponed while construction work happens in and around the park. The event is 19.3 miles. It's two days running that combined the Thor 10K plus the Super Heroes Half Marathon. I have ran plenty or 10Ks and only one half-marathon, but never back to back. My game plan was to take it "easy" on the 10K and save myself for the half. However anyone that runs in these types of events knows the adrenaline/thrill of a race and cause you to abandon any planned strategy. You can train, train, train but there is always that part that is nervous. This go around I had completed a lot more training versus my first half-marathon. However I still remember cramping up the last 1.5 miles and being miserable after. This time I felt as good as one could after running 13.1 miles. I was fatigued but still felt great without any cramping or other pain(s) This will be my last running event until May for the OC Half Marathon as I am going under the knife in December for my "plastics" -
Learning to run after bariatric surgery.

In regards to pace For me I adjust my pace based off the distance I am running. I will run 1 mile faster than 3.1, 6.2, 13.1.. etc My 5K pace is easily 8 to 8:30min, but like this past weekend I ran my 10K at a 11 min pace and my half-marathon the follow day average out to to just below 13min. You have to be comfortable with YOUR pace. The only competition is you and your mind. It's good to push yourself now and then so long as you aren't pushing yourself into an injury. You will naturally pick up speed with the more running you do. However there are guys I know that have run their whole life and said as they get older they just aren't as fast and when they do push they get injured. Their days of sub 6min miles are over. Interval running has been a huge key to increasing speed and stamina. -

My surgery has been set for December 11th. My pre-op is on November 28th. I'll be undergoing Panniculectomy with Add-On Abdominoplasty as well as the Gynecomastia. All which were approved by insurance (Anthem) I'm a bit nervous on the recovery. Hopefully like with any surgery the sooner I can get up and moving the better off I will be. Luckily I will have 3 weeks off work to recover and my Mom will be flying out on December 9th from North Carolina to help assist with my boys (2 and 4) Like most guys there haven't been many before/after pics. I know I will take some. Before and through out the healing to potentially share with other guys looking to have plastic surgery done I just hope once all the healing and swelling is said and done its what I'm am envisioning. Which is no more moobs and a flat-ish stomach area.

How much weight did you lose after your tummy tuck?
OneDollarBill replied to onmyway11's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I will be curious about this as well. The majority of my loose skin is in my gut. I was approved by my insurance today for a Panniculectomy with Add-On abdominoplasty as well as the Gynecomastia to take care of the moobs. -
Indoor rock climbing. Challenging and fun at the same time.

This past Sunday I completed another goal I set for myself. I completed the 2017 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon. While I wasn't fast I finished in 2:51:33. Despite the look on my face I was actually very happy (almost in tears #revokemancard). This event will hold a special place in my heart. I have completed many 5 and 10k events. My first being in a 5K in November of 2015. Now here I am coming up on my 2 year anniversary in March and completed my first half. Before having this surgery I would have never entertained the idea of running a half let alone anything else.

I'm signed myself up for the Infinity Guantlet. That should be an interesting challenge

@@Alfred Day Awesome! I did the DL 10K this past September. It was a lot of fun. The 10K courses are a lot better now and you will be in the park 75% of the race.

My surgery was on March 11, 2015. I started "exercising" aka walking 3 days after surgery. I joined a local 24hr Fitness and went every night and started walking on a treadmill sometimes only 10/15 mins. I just kept doing it. I set a goal to do a 5K and chose the Disney Avengers 5K in November. Originally my goal was just to finish and maintain the 16 min per mile "required" pace. However by race day I was maintaining a 14 min pace.

Its fun and a good workout. Not only is it a physical workout, but a mental one as well.
