Who did your surgery? I'm from SW MO & looking at the KC area for mine. Lawrence Drahota

Had surgery on May 19th. Everything went well. Not a horrible amount of pain other then trying to get up & down. Eating like I should, didn't cheat. Started "real" food on June 2nd, per dr. orders. Ever since I have spiraled down into a huge depression. I don't regret doing it, I love the fact the scale is going down. I just feel like crap even though I am eating like I should taking all the meds like I should. (I count my Vitamins as meds) I just don't get why I feel like crap & it is starting to be a struggle to get out of bed or even get up. I go for walks (1-2miles) per day, but nothing is helping. This is going to get better, right?

Out of sheer curisoty, how soon after surgery did you have to buy new clothes & how often after that? I am talking undies, bras, pants, etc? Thanks in advance.

Ok, so my estimates will probably ring true. My clothes are not horribly big, but I am noticing that they are starting to hang oddly on me, lol. Thanks everyone.

I am weighing in at about 382lbs. I have always had very heavy periods. The kind where you wear tampon & pads & still have issues. Bad enough that I get anemia from my body trying to keep up with the nutrients (I always get weak & feel like I am bleeding actual blood instead of uterus lining). I am normally borderline anemic & during my periods & up to two weeks after I am full blown anemic. Yes, I have gotten all the tests & exams that are needed to make sure that there is nothing wrong. I can't go on birth control (even the weakest ones cause uncontrollable side effects, i.e. worse bleeding even on the non-bleeding days) so I suffer through my periods. When I had my gallbladder removed I was a week out from finishing my last cycle. I woke up from surgery & had to make a mad dash to the bathroom & started my cycle all over again. I expect that when I get my sleeve surgery also. Now that the back story is completed, here is my question. Will my cycles lighten up once I lose the weight, or will they remain heavy as they are now? If they remain heavy then I don't know if I will be able to get enough nutrients in me to handle the weakness & anemia. I do not want to go into the hospital every month & I don't want the bleeding from taking birth control. I am sorry for bringing this up, but this is something I would like to have addressed.

Oh no, this is the last thing I need. Already a DD, no bigger please! I hope it is not the norm. Sorry I can't help. -
Female Issue, been warned

I'll talk to my dr about depo. Maybe worth looking into. Thanks AvaFern. Swampdoggie & Aspring424, I'll look into both of these things. Thanks so much for the suggestions. -

In reply to everyone: Ok, thanks. My doctor knows all this & says that it could go either way, just like my fibro. It could get better, stay the same, or get worse. Maybe if I am lucky I will get the bloody uterus yanked. I have no kids & 35yrs old so he doesn't want me to even consider yanking it. -
we share the same surgery date. Doing mine in Kansas City, KS. You?

Ok, I am looking at approximately a week of clear liquid. I am having some trouble finding clear liquid Protein powders & liquids. I know that I can have broth, but I would like to cram as much protein into me as possible at mealtimes, lol. My question is what have you used as clear liquid? Also, if I take my Pure Protein French vanilla shake powder & just mix it with Water without the non-fat dry milk, would that count as a clear liquid? Would it count with the dry milk in it? Thanks in advance!

Thank you, I will be checking both of those out also.

Yep, before & after surgery. I'll check out the Prosource. Thanks

I am pre-op & I am curious as to if I will be able to ever eat my favorite foods again? I love Peanut Butter, sweet & sour chicken, sushi, & chicken donburi. Both of course have rice & sugar. I understand that for the first several months those are a no go, but will I ever be able to eat carbs & other things I enjoy?
-
I may not want to eat them, but part of my hesitant issue revolve around me not being able to eat my favorites. I can handle eating smaller portions of them though, lol. Thanks so much everyone!

I currently weight 391lbs. I am looking at surgery in 2 months. I have fibro that makes my feet feel like I am walking on knives & bone pain that is bad. I live on a pain level of about 7 to 8 daily. What I don't understand is if I don't have the energy or pain resistance to do the exercise now (the only thing stopping me) how is that going to change right after surgery. My papers say I should be walking two miles after 2 weeks, & I can't even hit 1/3 mile now? Maybe I am not understanding something, but I fail to understand how that is going to be any different after surgery.

That does make sense. I don't have much other options other then walking. Can't afford to join a gym that has a indoor pool, I couldn't afford the surgery if Medicaid didn't cover it. But I can do chair exercises & stretching. Hmm...I'll talk to them.
